lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Since I have been finalising display pieces for April's meet and now the Servo Showdown comes along.....parts are running low so time to rebirth my Aussie Town....improve it and make it scream even more Aussie, Aussie, you know the rest ! Just one fresh image right now......more to come....during the day I hope. How does it look so far.....the rebirth......keep watching (the Canadian and contest builds will run in parallel.....more fun that way ) Quote
Brickington Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Overall, it's looks great! That Target is killer and the street id good. The post office is good, but not as goo as the target. What are those orange pieces at the what right in front of the post office? Quote

What are those orange pieces at the what right in front of the post office? Thanks 'Brickington' and those orange pieces are the components to something becoming quite rare around the western world.....a payphone ! Now another image..... More to come still keep watching everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Another image now...... More coming in the next few days......keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Sorry, mod's but another fresh image I have to share and it's coming together so well. Only the Holden and Elders buildings to be taken care of plus concrete edging on the grass side of the main street. Comments always welcome.....more to come still.....hopefully some surprises too I hope. Quote
Brickington Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Everything looks great! However, I feel like you could add some "spice" to the "grass." But the street of buildings is great. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I think the grass edge needs to be improved more.... Also maybe some taller buildings for your street might be good. Quote
Bregir Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Brick on! (But steer clear of any Dodge! :P ) /Bregir out Quote
Aussie BJ Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Looks good LT, might need to deploy a council street sweeper soon the dust is showing Those street lights look a little modern to me and where does one throw their rubbish? Keep up the good work and whats this surprise you have us waiting for? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks everyone for your feedback and questions...... First, there are rubbish bins for sale at the hardware store......but true I forgot about normal council bins on the street.....thanks 'Aussie BJ' for the tip. Second, the Target is the tallest I have.....it's history could be that it was once a cinema back in the 1940's...fell on hard times in the late 50's when TV came along and was taken over by G.J. Coles and then more recently changed into a Target Country......see it's called imagination ! Third, spice up the glass.....what up in smoke ? oh, no...you mean trimmings - I haven't finished the concrete edging yet and well, I don't think there is any room because of the white boundary fencing for the railway tracks sit in the way....but it's safety first in my town and happy hour between 5 and 6 at the local ! I'm finally having fun with some of my work and enjoying how it's all coming together.....next the Holden dealer will be adjusted, then the Elders.....dam, need more dark bluey grey 8x16's again ! Keep watching everyone ! Quote
LegoCityMann Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I love seeing New Mannum come back to life. Keep up the awesome job. ~LCM Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 I love seeing New Mannum come back to life. Keep up the awesome job. ~LCM Thanks 'LCM', I still trying to planning how the showdown servo is going to fit in my layout......guess I'll build it first eh ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Here we have the add-on's back being a w-i-p, more road surfacing and curbing to be done yet......keep watching ! Keep watching.....more coming ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 You should add some houses to your street, maybe some above the shops. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 This is the town centre, housing is usually found on the outskirts or behind the town centre in Oz....most structures are single storey.....only in larger towns established in the 19th century had two storey structures mainly hotels or large general stores.....the one's owned by those with the most money ! Gee, I feel I'm either Discovery Channel or Nat Geo sometimes ! Quote
Brickington Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I am loving this! Where do you get all of the stickers? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Stickers....ah, yes.....created them myself......Goggle Images, MS Paint and an ink jet printer.......photo sticker paper. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I think some extra hight in your town would look better, maybe a couple of two story houses (which can be found on towns centres) or a hotel. Your town is also missing the emergency services. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) My friend 'Alasdair', did you not notice the CFS truck in front of th Target Country store. Now to prove a point about my main street.....a real life one ! The only two storey structures are the hotel and a council office block....the rest are single storey buildings and the last thing I'll add is my layout does have a limit for the display....oh, yeah and the money doesn't stretch that far to allow homes.....they would have to be more detailed than the other structures. Thanks for the comments anyway 'Alasdair' ! Edited March 2, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I think I pre-fair the real live photo rather than your town..... That first electric pole looks a bit doggy in the picture. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 I think I pre-fair the real live photo rather than your town..... That first electric pole looks a bit doggy in the picture. A wee bit cheeky today eh ? Yeah, that's why my town has underground power.....they must have spent the money well ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 No just being my usual self.... Have you got round to building those two vehicles I made for you? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Oh, no.....I haven't been able to yet.....I don't have all the parts....but I should they would go so well in the layout......but time and money might run against me. Quote
gazumpty Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Ah in my short break off the EB boards and you have been a busy wee aussie beaver do you guys have beavers? (the animal btw...dirty mind!) I love the scene developing here lightningtiger! Building on many fronts and yet the standard does not drop...scary! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks 'gazumpty', I do my best not to drop my guard......that Caltex in have in the Servo Showdown will be also joining the town at the far end of main street across the road from the pub. Brick On everyone ! Quote
