Kahgarak Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I never knew that vampiric squids really existed. It even has the tentacles facing backwards and the big teeth. Quote
KimT Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Someone please move this to "community" or just somewhere where this kind of thing belongs. Nice squid though! Can't see why it should be the vampire squid from hell....IMO it's just a big deep water squid :-/ KimT Quote
oo7 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Can't see why it should be the vampire squid from hell....IMO it's just a big deep water squid :-/ Right you are, but it's latin taxonomy, vampyroteuthis infernalis, literally 'vampire squid from hell'. X-D Quote
ghoulrealm Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Apparently they just called it that because the pigmentation of the webbing between the arms reminded them of dracula's cape. Also don't mistake squids for polyps. They are molluscs just in case anyone is unaware. For that matter the Lego polyps are not especialy polyp like either, for one thing, polyps don't have teeth. But don't get me wrong, I don't mind them calling it a polyp, just don't be confused by it. I just seen a program about the Box Jellyfish wich is a polyp and contains the most potent and quick acting toxin known. Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I'm guessing the Poylps from Bionicle are based off these... Phew... those are freaky. good thing they don't live in my area. -ZotS Quote
