My Enlighten engine cost me about US$ 3.50 including postage here in China. Lego is way over my budget.

Lego started as a clone brand, right?

I guess Lego stipulates the use of their bricks in other contests as they supply the prizes, so no prizes no restraints?

Joe

My friend thought he was getting a good deal on a lego train... he paid 10 cents and $30 in shipping for a clone band set...

Lego is pretty expensive here in China, double US prices. I guess I could afford it but cannot justify spending so much on it.

I was at a Lego shop today with my little boy, drooling over the trains, etc.

It's kinda weird; I've been buying a lot of Lego from Amazon US during sales and having them sent to my Mom's house there as we're hoping to relocate. We'll be in Lego heaven when we get there! Here in China we've mostly just got Duplo for our son.

Anyway, I have been dabbling with 'the dark side' as it's very reasonably priced here in the Middle Kingdom and some of it is ok but, as has been pointed out; this isn't really the proper forum to discuss it.

Can I ask what is exactly wrong with the Crampton engines? I did google them and true they are a little unusual but I would not really count them as wacky, there are many more strange examples to choose from.

Is it acceptable to include cross themed carriages or trucks? For example a long time ago now I did a Blacktron railway coach and I have seen Friends railway stuff. Is this sort of thing allowed as I have an idea if it is that I may start work on tonight anyway, just because it is quite a wacky thing regardless!

Are monorails allowed to enter?

Absolutley!

Crampton locomotives are banned because of.... umm....

And yes, cross themed is allowed.

we need prizes I did try and give away an H.E. but it never happened due to mods not responding, shame really for the train guys, if we can get someone to agree I think maybe a lil train or small set could be in the offering, but no enlighten stuff lol

I'm thick too. Should I make a new thread, or post it here? I can have few designs more or less ready in 1,5 month

Ah, do we? It's just for the fun of it

I'm afraid that only staff-driven contests can involve prizes. I'm not aware of your previous offer of sponsoring prizes, but if you are interested we can discuss this further. However no prizes can be offered for the current challenge as it stands. :classic:

Hey, In our MOC posts, could we just post a link to something like flickr? Obviously with some description here on EB.

Or do I have to put photos into the post. (Which I dont really know how to do. XD )

You could post a link, but embedded photos are always nicer! Have a look here for a flickr tutorial.
