Spitfire2865 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Haha No thanks ES! I already have my design anyway. Its a 0-4-4 Forney built for the Long Island RR sometime around 1892. Though lacking any more research on the LIRR's use of these, I may make decals for the New York Elevated. Still deciding. Quote
Electricsteam Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 It is almost time to vote on the wackiest locomotive you guys could build! Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I have 8 days still!!! I think I can take some pictures today even. Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Ok, after a month or two of procrastinating and waiting, I present my locomotive. http://www.flickr.com/photos/89954298@N05/ If you want my commentary on it go here. Edited April 22, 2013 by Spitfire2865 Quote

Locomotive Annie Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 That's a really nice Forney Spitfire. They are another favourite loco of mine, we even had two of them here in New Zealand in the late 1890s. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) I reckon I should try and find my first train MOC mad of left over parts from my 10183 Hobby Train! Really wish I photographed it before burying it in storage Edit: Found it! Revising the front and replacing some parts to color match. The original was built before I started buying off Brick Link Edited April 23, 2013 by LEGO Guy Bri Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I finally got around to taking a few photos. They are just a couple quick shots for this contest and are sub-par of my sub-par camera skills. I call this MOC the Red Jacket Diesel Locomotive and a Passenger Wagon to go with my 10183 Hobby Train. Both are made of leftover parts from 10183. The engine is 85% comprised and the wagon 99%. Both were built during the summer of 2011. Once I located them, I decided to rebuild part of the diesel since my part inventory now had the correct colored pieces. I am pretty pleased with it's turn out. Neither are based on any specific engine or wagon. I took a little inspiration from the Super Chief, for the front, wanting something a little more streamlined. If anyone can point me to an actual engine like this, if it even exists, I'd be interested to see. Next is the passenger wagon for the Hobby Train. It's a combo passenger/cargo wagon, also not based on anything specific. Just your run of the mill car. And both together: Thanks for looking! Quote
Electricsteam Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Just one more day to enter before we vote on the wackyest locomotive! Hmmm I thought L12V would enter something by now. Quote
dundarach Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I've absolutely loved the wacky challenge, it really encouraged me to build stuff, not that's a problem :) The big question is WHAT ARE WE DOING NEXT..... How about whomever wins chooses the next topic? Quote

Aww, that's what I love about it! I love the combination of old and new, whether it's a steam loco with a modern shell or a spacecraft with art-deco styling. Quote

Electricsteam Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Ya know what I am going to throw my Steam-Mono-Tram into the fray! And and art-deco locomotive that I don't have photos of yet. Quote
UrbanErwin Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I would strongly suggest that you change the word April to May in the voting topic! Quote
UrbanErwin Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Can we have designated judges next time? why, this system is as long as I know this site ( at least 2 years (I didn't register immediately)) used for almost every contest. Quote
Electricsteam Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Can we have designated judges next time? I am not sure I really like that the comunity gets to choose which is best! Quote
