Wedge09 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Awesome work  I really like how you recreate the library Quote
castor-troy Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Very very beautiful. I like your style, I like all your creations. Quote
solta Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Oh wow... this is awesome. Beautiful interior, fantastic facade, unique details. Simply brilliant. Quote
chroute Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 This is a very nice MOC! And as others have noted before me: beautiful colour scheme! Quote
gazumpty Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 i love the the reality of this build, it takes great skill to make these MOC really look like scaled down buildings. Great detail and workmanship with the stickers and branding. Can't wait to see it in the full scene Quote
wooootles Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks for the appreciative comments, all. i love the the reality of this build, it takes great skill to make these MOC really look like scaled down buildings. Great detail and workmanship with the stickers and branding. Can't wait to see it in the full scene Thanks, I try to make my buildings more modern (compared to official TLG sets) and more akin to what one will find in an actual urban/commercial area. For example this particular building is a result of inspirations from actual multi-level Barnes and Noble stores, including the colors. Quote
kibosh Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 This really is excellent, and inspiring. I need to decide on a building to add to my city, and get started building it. Awesome colors, too. Quote
L@go Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Well, wow. I haven't had time to browse the forum for a while, and to find a building like this from one of my favourite building builders (that sounds strange!) when I return is a very pleasant surprise. The architectural details are top notch, and so are the colours. It's just so clean and crisp, and those decals - especially the B&N and Starbucks ones - are the perfect icing on the cake. It's super realistic. The interior is great, too, with the bookshelves and the LEGO section. Your Wasabi district was already wonderful, but it's turning into one of the best collection of LEGO buildings I know of. Now I'm off to drool a bit more on Flickr. Quote
Kristel Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Stunning building! There's so much to like about this building - the colour combination, the Starbucks signs on the outside, the attention to detail (such as the back entrance for the deliveries and the dumpster in the alleyway). My favourite part is how you have done the entrance and the corner of the building. I'm not sure what the issue is with the decals - they all look perfect to me, particularly the ones above the ground floor windows. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 this is stunning, i can only hope one day i can come up with something half as amazing as this :D i tip my hat to you sir :D Quote
wooootles Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Thank you for the kind and appreciative comments all! Interest on this MOC has become as strong as my other 2 big MOCs. Since this one is only roughly 50% larger than an official modular set, I have uploaded it on CUUSOO! Its size alone makes it a longshot, but what the heck, right? -I estimate this at 3500 pieces, but it's fully tiled. Removing the tiled flooring will likely save a few hundred pieces. -For the most part, it adheres to TLG's modular standard. This MOC however sits 2 plate thickness higher than official sets, but that's just because my layout demands it---one can easily build this straight on a baseplate. -CUUSOO email told me an LDD variant helps with supporters, so I will try to continue and finish up my LDD. Please look for it here soon! Again thanks for the support, and please spread the word! If you guys also have any suggestions on how to maximize Cuusoo support I would appreciate it! lightningtiger Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I've just supported it a few minutes ago. Almost 60.....great so far, good luck 'wooootles' ! Quote

If I may offer some unsolicited advice (is there a worse kind? ): Above all, be persistent yet take breaks, since it can be a demoralizing process over the long haul. Don't accommodate nonconstructive criticism (i.e., beware of "reviews"). And don't pledge to non-profits or charity, as the ones that get back to you will hint that they just want your hard work and money in exchange for no publicity / help. I'm skeptical that an .lxf file would help with supporters, but providing it may be more useful in demonstrating to TLG / Cuusoo that connections in an Expert MOC are "legal." From what I've seen in your pictures, I wouldn't worry, so it's surprising they asked. Edited March 8, 2013 by RoxYourBlox Quote

I wasn't going to put an actual lxf download file on Cuusoo, though I was to show a screenshot of a digital version. But maybe I won't put it there upon further review---my Cafe Corner-style arches on the corner entrance, AFAIK, is already "illegal". I have to think about it. It's sitting at 62/10,000 supporters right now and amidst an impressive and innovative group of ideas, so it's nothing I'm too worried about right now (though I will say again appreciate the support!), at worst they may visit my flickr page and/or boost my view rating/ego Edited March 8, 2013 by wooootles Quote
greg3 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Very nice... I especially like the exterior. It just looks perfect (the inside's not bad either!!) great attention to detail.... Excellent work! Quote
prateek Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Wow! Great job recreating a hipster's paradise! Honestly though, the architecture is fantastic and fits well with the subject matter, and the interior suits the size of the building well. Nice job. Quote
Bregir Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Brilliant work! I want to build a bookstore too, now :) Very inspiring Bregir out Quote
ManInATopHat Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Wow, that's very nice! I love the little Lego boutique. Quote
The Blue Brick Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 This is a very beautiful building. The architecture to the the colors go so well together. I can't wait to the update of the whole district. Quote
just2good Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I saw this MOC a couple weeks ago, but wow 'wooootles'! This has to be my favorite MOC of the year! This is such a familiar place to me, as I love going to B&N. The colors and design are modern, complex, and are just beautiful overall. Heck, the decals for the logo are perfect! I'll definitely have to get more people to support this on Cuusoo! Quote
