Kristel Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Obviously, what is needed here is leadership. If I can't help but be dragged into this mess you really should listen to me. Look at their shoes. This is the first of several posts where you mention shoes and leadership. I'm going to indulge you by letting you know that I'm wearing my Dunlop sneakers. The ones with the green trim. The same ones I wear every day, without socks, so that they are nice and smelly, just the way I like them. Now, indulge me. What's with the leadership talk? You have a special ability you want to share? A role-claim perhaps to save your butt? I'm happy to be convinced otherwise, but nothing has happened while I was sleeping to change my analysis from yesterday. I'm curious, too, why no-one asked you about the leadership thing while I was in my bunk. I mean I don't want to come off as suspicious, not like those other kids who keep asking questions and wanting to know answers--that sounds like a spy to me. I mean why else do they ask so many questions and target people? blah blah Personally, anyone whose asking too many questions is suspicious--why else would a Mesa be here but to steal information? And what's the easiest way to get information...questions. I don't even know where to start with this. Where do you think we'd be right now if no-one asked a question? How do you propose we find the Black Mesa if we don't ask questions? from yesterday. replace with "from before my nap".
Mencot Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 For those interested in the name thing: Shawna Spencer - ??? If someone can fill in the blanks for me that would be helpful. Yes from the same TV serie Psych, there is a character named Shawn Spencer, so this seems to be an femalized
Kristel Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 For those who are otherwise bored with the conversation, or have no idea what a Dunlop looks like, here's an interesting article. Scroll down about halfway the page. http://melbourneshuffleoldskool.blogspot.com.au/2009/07/clogging-source-of-melbourne-shuffle.html And, yes, the "cool" kids did do wear their Dunlop Volleys until they literally fall apart.
Esurient Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Credits to Legodad and Mencot I have compiled and added some more information. Simone Adamly - Ferris Bueller's Day Off ('86) Craig Anheiser - or rather Carl Anheuser - 2012 (2009) Wendy Beamish - St. Elmo's Fire ('85) John Bender - Breakfast Club ('85) Jeanie Bueller - Ferris Bueller's Day Off ('86) Bobby Busch - or rather Bobby Boucher - The Waterboy - (1998) Andrew Clark - Breakfast Club ('85) Newton Crosby - Short Circuit ('86) Lucy Emerson - Lost Boys ('87) Bud Fox - Wall Street ('87) Cameron Frye - Ferris Bueller's Day Off ('86) Burton Guster - Psych (TV comic series) (2006) Mary Jane - The Dead ('87) Brian Johnson - Breakfast Club ('85) Chuckie Miller - Can't Buy Me Love ('87) Davey Osborne - Cloak and the Dagger ('84) Adriann Parbritzzi - Student Exchange ('87) Slone Peterson - Ferris Bueller's Day Off ('86) Allison Reynolds - Breakfast Club ('85) Ricky Sanders - former American football player Shawna Spencer - or rather Shawn Spencer - Psych (TV comic series) (2006) Claire Standish - Breakfast Club ('85) Everyone please contribute your thoughts. And please correct me if I am wrong, we are all learning. I will start off first. But the biggest connection is the Brat Pack characters And among them 5 from The Breakfast Club John Bender = Judd Nelson Andrew Clark = Emilio Estevez Allison Reynolds = Ally Sheedy Brian Johnson = Anthony Michael Hall Claire Standish = Molly Ringwald Great start, but I don't think they catch my attention at this point. I am more focused on the what's nots That is what science is all about... If you just gently take a look at our esteemed teacher Shadeux's name tag... " Science isn't about why, it's about why not!" >.<
Tohst Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 This is the first of several posts where you mention shoes and leadership. I'm happy to be convinced otherwise, but nothing has happened while I was sleeping to change my analysis from yesterday. I'm curious, too, why no-one asked you about the leadership thing while I was in my bunk. It is pretty simple but I suspect you are being deliberately obtuse. The people are scared. The faculty makes a claim about Black Mesa and suddenly they are grasping at straws. So much so that some reasonable suggestions I made caused hysteria and fingers pointed at me. In the spirit more of noblese oblige than self-preservation I have engaged further. Leadership is always necessary to survive crisis. I guess you would prefer the students isolated and rudderless? I am glad to see others stepping up and analyzing information and trying to calm down in the face of this. However, I stand by most of my original observations. Observe how they look. Your stinky stoner keds don't inspire confidence. -Bud
Kristel Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 SNIP... Everyone please contribute your thoughts. And please correct me if I am wrong, we are all learning. Thanks, Lucy, it's nice to have a complete list. I didn't like having those question marks against my name. Having said that, there are a few of us (including myself) that stand out like sore thumbs. To pre-empt the obvious question - no, I don't know why I (or Burton, or Ricky, or Shawna) have been singled out. You'll have to ask our teachers about that. I can only reiterate that I am town, with nothing to hide. Regarding the "Brat Pack" theory, Ferris Bueller's Day Off was also a Brat Pack movie, so it's not just the characters from The Breakfast Club that have a connection. Leadership is always necessary to survive crisis. I don't disagree with what you've said here, Bud, but that wasn't my question. What I would like to know is what special ability do you have that makes your leadership is so important to achieving a town win for us? As a reminder: post 150 - you tell us "you'll be sorry when I'm gone" post 161 - you suggest you may be the hero in all this post 169 - you state "the townies cannot afford for me to go with how much leadership I provide" Your stinky stoner keds ... And it's Dunlop Volleys, not Keds.
Tohst Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 As a reminder: post 150 - you tell us "you'll be sorry when I'm gone" post 161 - you suggest you may be the hero in all this post 169 - you state "the townies cannot afford for me to go with how much leadership I provide" And it's Dunlop Volleys, not Keds. Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. I said I thought you were deliberately being obtuse. Now I wonder if you're just so drug addled you can't see what should be obvious. Maybe if I do it this way. I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud

I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud Seriously, if you're going to role claim, you better do a better job than this. I'm not counting anybody out, but this is getting ridiculous. You say you're a leader, but I honestly haven't seen any leading going on. My vote stands for now.

Clanure Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Nothing beats a pair of Chuck Taylors as far as I'm concerned. While I may not be as chatty as some on here, I'm also formulating my own ideas about who could be black mesa and what clues to look for. As I see it, so far, we have 2 types: 1. those who talk (and talk, and talk, and talk...). Is this to throw off the scent or are they genuinly trying to root out black mesa? Not sure, but time will tell. 2. those who are quiet. Seems like there are at least a few we haven't heard much from. Is this trying to fly under the radar? Perhaps they(like me) don't have much to say but are carefully doing their research and trying to learn some things. Oh, and I'm actually number 17. I managed to slip under the radar there. I'm just sayin...
Debricker Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Time to think about my future That is if I graduate
Brickington Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I think I will go to feeling: Vote: Ricky Sanders (Brickington) In my opinion Ricky talked a little too much but of anything. What's wrong with talking my good fellow? 2. those who are quiet. Seems like there are at least a few we haven't heard much from. Is this trying to fly under the radar? Perhaps they(like me) don't have much to say but are carefully doing their research and trying to learn some things. Again, nothing is wrong with talking. I am trying to tell you guys, it's the people who are hush, hush are the ones you got to watch for.

Whilst it might be interesting to work out whose names come from where, I doubt that our aliases mean anything in terms of Aperture Academics vs. Black Mesans. I don't think the numbers mean anything, either. Y'know, our names and hair don't mean anything, but what we are on the inside does. Me? I'm that cloud over San Francisco, waiting for my feelings to well up until I cry into my poster of Billie Joe Armstrong. Everything is getting complicated here; my time to rain might be soon. But for now: Unvote: Davey Osborne (Mencot) Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. I said I thought you were deliberately being obtuse. Now I wonder if you're just so drug addled you can't see what should be obvious. Maybe if I do it this way. I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud I'm think you're a townie now, since I don't think a scum would draw attention to himself like that, but... really??? You claim to be a leader but haven't shown any leadership to us in public. These comments are a bad attempt at softclaiming some kind of powerful personality hiding under your aloof prep attitude, and now you're probably on the Black Mesa's expulsion list. If you don't want our class to expel you, you should probably bring out your suspicions and hunches. Time to listen to American Idiot on repeat, I think.

Tamamono Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Sorry guys for being so quiet today, I've been slammed. Catching up now; I'll have a post in a while.
Tohst Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Sorry guys for being so quiet today, I've been slammed. Catching up now; I'll have a post in a while. Despite some of your strange views, its good to have a person of quality back. -Bud
Fred Daniel Yam Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. Now I wonder if you're just so drug addled you can't see what should be obvious. Maybe if I do it this way. I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud You talk so much about leadership, if your a true leader show it in your actions... don´t talk big words that mean nothing Time to think about my future That is if I graduate I will be quiet for a while tom. My computer has a giant virus unvote ricky sanders (brickington) I don´t get nothing from your comments because they don´t seem to make any sence Not that my comments make either all the time It is the evening soon so day 1 is coming to and end, I have nothing... think think names and movies and science and sports
Kristel Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Part of me wants to pick randomly from a hat filled with the names of those flying under the radar sitting back, studying or just watching the show. But this would be totally random because of the lack of contributions by those students. My logical side won't allow me to do that. So, for being unhelpful at the start, dodging my questions about leadership and then the role claim, I am voting for Bud. Vote: Bud Fox (Tohst) You haven't been able to convince me you're Town.
Tamamono Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Shoes are the windows to who a person is. You can tell if they are poor (suspect!) or well off (good people) I know some of the riff raff are going to jump all over me for this one but you can't bribe someone that already has money. You can't offer to pay them off to spy for Black Mesa You can tell if they are lying about who they are. The kid who says he has money but has old shoes....lying. The cheerleader whose shoes don't have grass stains....lying. I don't think you understand the first thing about this game. While it's good to roleplay and get into your character, these characters don't actually mean anything. Anyone could be Black Mesa, even someone well-off like me (or, more accurately, you ). In my opinion Ricky talked a little too much but of anything. What? Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. I said I thought you were deliberately being obtuse. Now I wonder if you're just so drug addled you can't see what should be obvious. Maybe if I do it this way. I'm the cream of the crop I rise to the top -Bud Is this supposed to be a roleclaim? If so, you've done a laughably bad job. Unfortunately, the only role called "leader" is a minor role almost never used (when killed, all votes are anonymous for the day), and never used on this site. Vote: Bud Fox (Tohst) Theory: Bud's the godfather (with the flavor of Leader) who thinks claiming his real role name is going to get us to not lynch him.
Tohst Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 You got my vote with that "role-claim" Bud, what qualities of a leader have you shown so far? I'm think you're a townie now, since I don't think a scum would draw attention to himself like that, but... I shouldn't be surprised. I expected too much of you to see my obviously superior nature, especially for the drug addled. My reasoning should be obvious but I'll explain it for the cheap seats. I voted for Craig Anheiser. In addition to being a stoner, he was a main proponent of the number theory, hounding those who wouldn't supply a number as if we were supposed to just give up that information for free. I see now he just voted for me because of the new 'role claim' theory. Two theories that are designed to lead the rest of you in the wrong direction. I expected earlier that he would vote for me near the end and have a Black Mesa lurker jump in if necessary to put it over the top. Why, he even went so far as to to chastise the rest of you for not 'questioning me' more about the leadership thing. As if there was a thing to question? I can't count the number of things I've led over the years. Science fair projects were I harness the power of the team to a second place win (We were robbed of first place). Car Washes for charity where I directed people on how to wash cars right. I suspect that I am targeted for two reasons. The first and obvious is as a cool kid I'm a natural leader. The other preps have shown some spark but so far haven't risen to the occasion. The second is that I am outspoken and thus became an easy target for jealousy. Why do I think Black Mesa will win if I'm gone? Let me count the ways. One - strictly numerical - You'll have voted off a town member. Good move, guys! Two - one less prep, the natural leaders of the school - In your heart you know it to be true. Three - Black Mesa will continue to target anyone outspoken. It's the dandelion theory. Anyone who rises above the rest will be cut down. They have seen that it works and will continue to do it. Four - From what I've seen of the rest of you, sadly even the ones who should have started in my corner, I was your best bet. I shouldn't have to convince you. If you don't know it, the fault lies with you. -Bud
badboytje88 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Oh man I slept the whole night, and to wake up to what THIS NIGHTMARE oh man whatever -starts talking to Chuckie Miller and Allison Reynolds- I'be been thinking about this all day and I am sorry but this just is too odd to me. Very subtle but odd. Why would you tell us you slept all night? What does it matter? Trying to appear like you have no night action? I'm sorry but my gut feeling is tingling. I will Vote: Davey Osborne, The Goth (Mencot)
Antonio Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 blah blah blah Woah!At the beginning it was just arguing with short replies and now,the more people start to vote for you,the more you start talking nonsense.Even if you're town, you're a pretty annoying one!You remind me of one of those annoying brats that there are in the school movies. Anyway im getting some kind of puzzle with those numbers,as they are the only information we were given,i bet they are the key to finding who is who.Wendy,Newton and Davey, care to share your numbers? Vote: Bud Fox (Tohst)
-obelix- Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Well let me add to the list. I'm a leader. I predict the town side will lose to Black Mesa if I am gone. So leader or not here's what I get from your statement, you are trying to throw us of your scent or you are roleclaiming. Either way you've got my vote. Vote: Bud Fox (Tohst)
