Kintobor Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Karie was still unnerved whenever Nessa did the demonic voice, but in this line of work, she had to pull through. "Majority rules! Here goes nothing!" She tossed the smoke bomb into the mob, hoisted the cart up, and made her way past the crowd. "Remind me after this to get Nessa to a doctor or something." Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Dreyrugr turned to Nessa seeing her forget all about their current task. Dreyrugr then looks at the voice in the sky to estimate what time it is. Voice in the Sky says 4:29, having fought for 5 minutes and walked for 7. At this rate, you'll get there at 4: 54, as opposed to 4:47 if you hadn't fought the jailbirds. If you get into another fight, it'll take another 4-7 minutes, and you'll get there around 4:59. Also, there is a maze coming up where you have the chance to regain lost time if you make all the right choices, so don't lose all hope if you go over, and also, even if you do miss catching her, she'll still be in the harbour kicking off, and while you may not be able to fight her, you'll certainly get to have a bit of conversation with her. I'll update Later this evening. Quote

Kill the spies!" The crowd sang, as they prepared to attack the party. Karie, having quickly reached a consensus with her party mates, threw her smoke bomb at the riotous crowd. the party barreled through the disoriented masses, wheelbarrow first, and didn't look back. the crowd coughed and cursed, and even after the party was well out of sight they could still hear the crowd shouting "Death to the Hinckwells!" The heavy rain eventually drowned out the chanting citizens. The party was drenched. After 5 minutes of running, the made it to the Middle Wharf District where they had met with the gangsters. They continued on the main road until they heard a loud explosion to their side. A heavy crack was heard, and right in-front of the party, a huge crane fell. it crashed into the building across the street from where it had been standing. A band of were-raven mobsters then climbed out of the wreckage. "Good work boss, now let's teach these Fishermen a thing or two about paying protection money!" the five-men band of were-ravens raced towards the party. Kintobor Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 (edited) Karie dropped the cart's handle at the sound of the explosion as she watched the crane come down, smashing right in front of her. It was a miracle none of her fellow team members were under it. It was more of a miracle her makeup on her face was still somewhat intact. She cringed at the sign off the mob moving towards them. "Great, just what we need, more unnecessary delays!" She could tell Amorith was getting greedy with the loot. "Amorith, trust the pick pocket, there comes a time in one's life when they realize that their eyes are often hungrier than their stomachs, if you get what I'm sayin'. There will be better loot to come, you just gotta wait for it." Karie fishes out her last smoke bomb. "This is my last one guys! I suggest we make like trees and leave, but that's just me and the boat we gotta get to! Are we going to run again, gang?" OOC: Great, now I suddenly have the urge to go watch Beauty and the Beast again! Edited April 16, 2013 by Kintobor Quote

Vash the Stampede Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Dat loot looks so amazing. But I'd put the current mission on top. If we make the right choices at whatever maze we should be fine but we really should be assuming the worst and we can technically come back and fight later right? Even if we can't I'd rather miss out on loot and exp to finish this quest properly. "I don't know about the rest of you but this is all a waste of time." Dreyrugr throws a smoke bomb if there isn't too much conflict with his party. Quote

Dreyrugr throws a smoke bomb if there isn't too much conflict with his party. To lay all the cards on the table, there is no one way to end the quest properly. I have plans for whatever the result of the ship escapade, and if you go and find some way that I didn't expect, I can roll with it as well. I didn't expect you to do this, but frankly, had you chosen so, I'd have let you fight every single combat I had prepared, gaining all the loot and exp. Sure you'd miss the ship that way, but it's certainly a valid choice. Also, whether you catch the ship or not, there will be a boss fight. But, these particular guys will not be sticking around until you get back from the Harbour. Edited April 16, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

I doubt it will be so easy to get through the maze but if so I'd gladly welcome loot and exp. Especially exp. Amorith and Dreyrugr are only 3 battles from lv 15 and we can guarantee one boss battle. Kintobor Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 "Well, that's one less smoke bomb I have to waste. Run team, to the boat!" OOC: I agree with Dreyrugr's decision. That boat takes more importance than a bunch of mobsters. Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 (edited) The compass tells you direction, not route, necessarily, IMO. Feel free to try it though. It'd make sense, in character, at least. I took this interpretation early on when I was looking at your stats and wondering how that'd fit with my wild goose chase plot. I also would not have allowed you to use it to look for people you'd never met, IE: I ask my compass to locate the Po Brothers.Your compass can't find them since you don't know who they are. or, I use my compass to find the rumour spreader.Your compass can't find the Rumour Spreader since you don't know who the Rumour Spreader is. Fortunately, that never really came up. It would have worked with Abe the Accountant, or Bart, or Dill, or Ave, or Dice,or Yoro, or the Cloth Merchants, or the Mob Boss, or the Clothes-Guild-Head, or the Bard, if you wanted to locate any of them at any point during the day, and it might have given you some insight on who the players in this game were, but nothing you couldn't find out any other way. I doubt it will be so easy to get through the maze but if so I'd gladly welcome loot and exp. Especially exp. Amorith and Dreyrugr are only 3 battles from lv 15 and we can guarantee one boss battle. I didn't think about it that way, but there are two ways (or technically 4-6 ways) to gain access to 3 battles before the end of my Quest. At this point, including this optional battle, there's a max of 5-6 battles left, including this one, and that includes either doing well in the maze or something else... I doubt you'll get that many. A more accurate Max might be 4-5, but since it is literally the Max, I gave you the larger of the two. At the rate you're going though, I only see you getting 2. I'll let you figure out what those are. I've already done more than my fair share of laying cards on the table. So you've decided to ditch this battle? I'll update in the evening, as usual. I hope my slowness is not annoying you all. Edited April 16, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

She didn't wait for an answer as she didn't want to get one. She walked ahead of the group map in hand and followed the path to the docks. OOC: @QM: don't feel sorry for the speed. OOC: It will be annoying although slightly hilarious if Vash and I end up at level 14.5. Oh, will you now? I told you there are several ways to get there. The Party tossed a smoke bomb at the Were-Raven Mobsters and made there way through the wreckage of the crane and out the other side. The Mobsters were only concerned about rouging up the Fishermen, so they didn't pursue. The Party ran another 5 minutes in the pouring rain, entering the Peasant District. The place was mostly deserted, it seemed, and filled with wooden housing and quite a few health violations. The poverty of the region was almost palpable.
