OoC: Didn't see this coming. While mechanically, I can't let you flee like a rogue would, I'll let you expend a smoke bomb and then let those characters who want to continue fighting immediately return, essentially restarting the combat at your current health and at the enemy's current health. This is rather ignoble for a knight... I think you'll make a pretty good black knight when you get to level 15.

The second arrow hit Karie's left leg. She winced in pain.

"...5, 6, 7... All good... girls go to heaven..."

She noticed Drake scampering away from combat. Perhaps she was a terrible leader if members of the party were running away from combat.

Karie moved to a secure spot, and drank a potion.

She then gripped the arrow in her leg, and bit her lips.

Karie, too injured to attack, pulled out a potion from her pocket. She gulped the thing down, not minding the nasty flavour. She grunted as she pulled the arrows out, and much of the pain subsided. Dreyrugr too decided it was best to heal himself before continuing his assault on the thugs. He drank a potion from the back row. Nessa, unusually sympathetic, called back to her party members encouraging words, but could not help but get hit in the leg by the mace-wielding thug. Amorith however, had had enough. He concentrated as hard as he could in the screaming rain and clanging battle field and found his dark connection to the amethyst gem. With a war-like cry he released a blast of necrotic magic so powerful it knocked the ranger back five feet and continued to remove the human's power until he could stand no longer. The ranger fell back, trying to get up, providing Drake with the perfect opportunity to stab at the flat-footed rogue... Which Drake did not take. Instead, Drake was looking around looking for the boardwalk. He saw that they were on a street near the shore, lined for the most part with buildings. The stretch of land was thin and only supported one row of buildings on each side of the road. From what Drake could see in the rain, the land ended at a pier, where a large ship was loading cargo. Drake could not make out numbers of people, but he could tell there were several dock workers and guards. A few carts like Che Qi's resided there as well.

Karie pulled out the arrow as quickly as it could, the pain intense, despite the potion nullifying most of it. She grabbed the other located on her arm and pulled the other out of her arm, tears running down her face. The arrow was finally out. She tossed the arrow aside and got up. She then quickly wrapped a few bandages around her wounds. She loosened herself up, but clenched her arm. The pain was still there. Her scar from the Harvester began to throb. The line of sight was clear. She could run for it. The fight wasn't going in their favor. She then looked back at the party, clearly needing help.

"One of these days I swear I'm going to get myself killed!"

She wasn't going to leave her party now. Not in the middle of a fight. She moved back from the crate she was hiding behind and back to her party.

"Alright wise guy, show times over. Looks like we're going to have to kick these guys out the hard way."

Karie takes another jab at Brigand B from the back row.

Nessa fired her crossbow at the mace-wielding Brigand. It stuck into his chest as he stood back up, but the blow only served to fuel the enraged robber's battle-lust. He swung his mace well over his head and brought it down again on the mage, pushing him back. Dreyrugr swung at the infuriated felon, scoring a hit. Karie stabbed at the archer brigand, but failed to land a hit, when all of a sudden, from behind her, Drake charged back into the combat, startling everyone! He swung at the archer just as he was about to place another row in Karie's side, and knocked the mugger prone.

Nessa blasted the mace-wielding Brigand with a final arrow through the forehead, killing him. Blood ran down his long dirty-blond hair.

"No!!" Shouted the ranged Brigand. He fired an arrow and hit Dreyrugr. Drake, cautiously swung at the thug from the back row, and landed a heavy blow, but his power was diminished by its range. He fired again at Karie.

Is it my own incompetence? Am I just not cut out for this style of work?

She could remember back to her pick pocketing days. If trouble arose, she ran. She ran quickly. She didn't look back.
