Kintobor Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Karie slipped on the wet deck of the ship, looking just in time to see Amorith and Drake fall off the ships deck. She didn't know if either were okay, and looked away. She noticed Nessa was injured and needed help. "Dreyrugr, cover me while I heal Nessa!" She knew she'd be taking the free hit. She got up and off the wet, slippery ship deck and towards Nessa. She heals her from the back row. "Aim straight, and don't you dare miss. We're going to wait this out, and then light her load up." She jostled her fire bomb. "I want you and everyone else on this boat to jump out. I'll be delivering the pay load." Battle Order >Karie- Heal Nessa >Nessa- Sea Shaman >Nessa- Bonaparte Bombardier >Dreyrugr- Fleur >Dreyrugr- Quinton OOC: Well our luck sucks! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) OOC: Well our luck sucks! OoC: Yes it does, I'm sorry about that, although, not really really sorry, as I'm not flubbing any rolls. It's just the way this cookie crumbled. I see you're planning to go ahead with your plan. Wonderful. For the party to leave the combat, they would need to expend a smoke bomb (as not everyone has Flee). This is shaping up to be an interesting climax. Vash the Stampede Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Wow.........sentential and our rolls still suck. Come on stun chance, save me from that annoying counter-strike. Dreyrugr watches as two of his party members were tossed overboard. Lucky for him Fleur had no eneregy left to chuck him over as well. He didn't want to find out what would happen if he went over. "Ha!" Fleur laughed bitterly. "I look forward to it! I'll see you then as I see you now! Hell can't be much worse than this world we all live in!" "In some ways I agree, life sucks. But you know what? You're here right now. People would kill for themselves or others to be alive no matter what form it is in. But I have no sympathy for people who don't know what to do next in life when so many others have lost that opportunity." With that in mind he turned to Fleur and the captain knowing he would have to keep them preoccupied for his team. Dreyrugr attacks Fleur from the back row hoping she leaves herself open to be momentarily stuned by a dirty trick he had planned. Dreyrugr then turns to Quinton. If Dreyugr recieves damage for counter strike from Fleur he will attack from the back row. Otherwise the front row. Quote

"There's no real lasting pleasure in life, and you're just naive if you think otherwise. What joy can you possibly wrest from this existance that can't just as easily be taken from you in a cruel gouging way? What is sacred? What won't bite you in the neck if you let it close enough? Nothing ever lasts but gold... And even that doesn't last forever." She stated, cold hatred in her eyes. "But it lasts long enough for me." Edited May 12, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) OOC: Since the ship is still at the docks can Drake and I get back on it? Yes, until Fleur's timer runs out it takes 2 rounds to return to the ship. Sorry if that wasn't entirely clear. B. Overboard!: A Hero (or villain) thrown Overboard! takes water damage equal to 5+total number of rounds after Fleur’s Getaway Timer has expired disregarding SP, but not row, and is removed from the combat. If Fleur’s Getaway Timer has not expired, the character returns to the dock and can return to Live or Let Die in 2 rounds provided Fleur’s Getaway Timer does not expire during that time. If the Timer has expired, the Target is swimming. Quest for a swimming character will take place in PM until the combat is over. This does not count as Instant Death, nor does it result in the loss of the quest. Fleeing counts as Overboard! but all damage is halved due to the intentional nature of the escape. The liquid was nasty, but the effects were needed. Releaved from much of the pain, Nessa fired once into the newly arrived Sea Shaman, puncturing the thing in what she imagined was a critical area. The squid-person bled black blood. Encouraged, Nessa then took on the other crew, firing at the Cannoneer, the Aquamancer, and Fleur herself. Dreyrugr then took on Fleur. He crouched, looking for an oppening in her defenses, but she didn't let him see one, jabbing him in the chest with a dagger instead. Dreyrugr leapt away from Fleur, none-too-pleased that she'd stabbed him, and fell into the path of Captain Quinton. He quickly snatched a gold purse from the well-monied monster hunter. "I'm getting reembursed for this, right Abe?" "You can claim whatever they drop." Fleur spat in response. "That works for me, pirate scum!" Then Dreyrugr sliced him in the gill. Kintobor Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) The battle was not going in their favor. It seemed as if Fleur had stacked the deck, and the cards were in her favour. Karie, weak from the battle, prepares herself to say the inevitable. "I hate to spoil the party gang, but we cannot wait for Amorith and Drake to get here. We'll be taking too many free hits. We can't keep this fight up. Get Amorith and Drake off the boat. I'm going to ensure Fleur loses a large sum of her profits. I don't know what'll happen in the hold, but if you wish to follow me, I'm fine with it. We just need to get Amorith and Drake to safety. I want one of you to throw a smoke bomb, I'll flee to the hold and light the sucker up. Before you do though, Dreyrugr, pass me your potion and heal me. I'll meet you back where we meet up with Che Qi earlier." Karie readied herself, shaking her arms, and stretching her legs slightly. As much as she wanted Fleur here and now, this wasn't the time. Her party was more important right now. It was strange how earlier today her party meant little to her, they were simply excess baggage. Now she was risking her own life just to ensure that their enemy at least didn't achieve a total victory, and to ensure none of her party members got injured. "If you guys got other plans, lets hear them now, but the three of us won't be conscious by next round, and there's only one phoenix essence left." She leaned over the ship's railing, to ensure her to team mates were alright. "Amorith, Drake, hang in there! If you have any ideas, they'd be really useful right now!" Karie prepares to flee combat, and enter the ship's hold. Battle Order Dreyrugr-Heal Karie Karie- Flee to ship's hold Nessa- Smoke Bomb Edited May 12, 2013 by Kintobor Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Wouldn't it be better for you to drink your own potion while you are running? Not to sound like a scrooge but I'm down on health as well with my last potion. We actually also don't need to take free hits as we have 5 actions and 6 enemies (-1 for the stun so 5). But the chance of us dying is very high. If it wasn't for those stupid aquamancers I'd suggest Amorith sets the ship on fire. Before I bold an action I'll wait for everyone else to contribute any ideas..............and I'll do some thinking offline. Quote

Drake smiled at Crewman B and then looked at the remaining crate. Drake turned to Amorith. "Maybe we can try and use that crate to get on board again, like how I got onto the ship in the first place." Dak smiled and went over to Crewman B. "Don't you worry about him. He'll be back in an hour or so and then he'll be an idiot again. Oh, and make sure you don't go near his robe." Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 No one said anything about my crazy plan good or bad so I'm assuming no one has read it and I'll quote it over. Ok 62'ers. Here's my plan but is it crazy enough to work? Dreyrugr climbs up the ship attempting to cut the mast so they cannot sail. Meanwhile Karie and Nessa go to destroy/venomise their food supply, mainly their fruit so that they get scurvy from lack of vitamin C so it ends up being too dangerous to leave port. This being while Drake hits the side of the ship with that mace of his (hopefully putting a nice hole in the side). Meanwhile Amorith sets fire/destroys the keel. If the keel receives even a small amount of damage that's pretty much the entire boat worthless as it will fall apart at dock or later at sea. Crazy idea but it seems to be a better choice to duking the battle out. Quote

Listen, in the meantime get the team to safety and out of this storm." Karie's emotions were churning more violently than the ocean they were battling on. What were they? Confusion? Anger? Sorrow? Love? It was beginning to boggle her. There would be a time to put them in place, but it wasn't here. "Dreyrugr, not to sound prude but that potion would be lovely right about now!" The fruit will most likely be stored there, so by the time me and Nessa get there, the ship will have already left port. Also, last time I checked, when a party was tasked with cutting down a mast, I believe it's health was about 200-250 hp. (Dastan trilogy, I believe?) I must commend you for the effort, but some things just won't get done on time. Crewman C (Old Man and the Sea) “To hell with luck! Vash the Stampede Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 The idea of the plan was mostly for distractions while Amorith destroys the keel. Seriously, once a keel is damaged it's easier to start the whole ship from scratch than fix it. Even just a little damage. Think of it like bones in your body. Without your bones you would be flopping here and there and one heck of a mess. Basically what happened to Harry's arm in chamber of secrets where his bones disappeared but to a ship and no magical repairs. Sail a ship with a damaged keel and everyone on that ship dies. No sailer would sail a ship with a damaged keel unless they have a death wish. "Dreyrugr, not to sound prude but that potion would be lovely right about now!" Like I said wouldn't it be more beneficial if I took my potion and you took yours while running? Ah whatever. Dreyrugr shoves his last potion down Karie's mouth. Quote

And it was a hard decision. Their whole day had been spent getting to this point--to catch the mastermind behind the rumours and stop her from foiling Dill's scheme... But when they arrived they found Fleur was prepared for them, and prepared to die to escape with her riches... For that's all she cared about... Money. Karie stood firm with her plan. The Hold was likely unprotected with all the combatants on the Helm, and that's where Fleur's true bounty lied. She stated her orders through the howling wind, and The Party Knew what they had to do. Dreyrugr Handed her his last potion, and she drank it, not minding the taste. He looked down at the returning party members. "We're leaving." He shouted down. Karie turned to face Nessa, then ran from the battle, juping bellow Deck. Nessa gritted her teeth, glared at Fleur, then tossed her smoke bomb at the ground. The thing burst into a cloud of obscuring mist, which was quickly beaten down by the rain, but by then the Party had already made it to safety, Dreyrugr catching a rope and swinging back to the Dock, kicking the Harbour Guard into the sea in the process... All the Party, that is except Karie and Nessa... Who had decided to infiltrate the ship's Hold. Fleur grasped onto the rail to watch the Party. She saw the three members on the Dock. "Get that last crate up here and into the Hold." She snarled, no look of triumph in her eyes, no gloating to be had. She gained no pleasure from beating off the party... No pleasure from living with herself and her hold full of fine expensive cloth. Those in the Hold Shall continue in PM. Those on the Ground can do as they please. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) OOC: I'm ready whenever you are. OoC: I sent it half an hour ago. PS: Ground Group, if you still want to talk to Fleur, you may. The ship is lifting the final Crate and about to sail away. Edited May 12, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote
