"Dear Sir, it would be nice if you speak a little bit more quiet. And to be straight: we are not here to open a bank account." With an even lower voice she added: "I am here to see a person called Martin... or as you may know him: Marty the Face." Nessa tried to not attract the attention of the other customers inside the bank, especially as she said the Marty's nickname.

The man looked around nervously. Some of the people getting out moved faster, some giving the bank keeper worried or threatening looks.

xpc9kg.jpg "I'm sorry," he said, "but I do not think I know anyone named 'Marty the Face.' If there's anything else I can help you with, I would be pleased to do so." He kept a straight face, but the savvy party members could tell that he was lying. It was also obvious that he wouldn't tell them the truth even if they put a knife at his throat. Perhaps the Party had some way else to convince him they were on his side?

Karie could tell that Nessa would spoil everything they worked for.

"Excuse me sir!" She piped up from the back.

"I'd like to open a bank account!"

"I'd like to open a bank account!"

xpc9kg.jpg "Wonderful, What's your name, and do you have any form of identification?" He asked, still suspicious of the newcomers, but emphasizing the last sentence subtly, worriedly.

Karie chuckled.

"But of course my good man! My name is Bridgette, Bridgette Rosalindt."

She fishes the Spider coin out of her coin pouch and flashes it at the banker.

She fishes the Spider coin out of her coin pouch and flashes it at the banker.

The Banker nearly died of relief. He turned to Nessa.

xpc9kg.jpg "I'm sorry about that, you should have showed me yours." he breathed out, not upset, more apologetic. "The Church of Ennoc has been cracking down on us in this city recently, so I have to be very cautious. Yes, Marty is down in the vault at the end of the hallway down-stairs... but if you want to meet him for reasons aside from worship, he takes that kind of business outside." The banker clergyman wiped his forehead with his hand. "What brings you lot to Brendenton?"

The people took their time getting out now, and spoke louder. The Banker took out his list of names.

xpc9kg.jpg "Would you all like to sign this for us?"

Karie joshingly laughed. She had him right where she wanted him.

"What else, business! I decided to stop in after attempting to do business with the cloth trade, but it seems as if things aren't going to well around here. I just so happen to be a cloth merchant working out of Dastan. Do you mind telling me what's happening around here with the cloth trade? As well, these Ennoc crackdowns, I was unaware of such a thing happening in the city. When did they start and why? I can't see why the church of Ennoc would do such a thing."

She took the pen and signed Bridgette Rosalindt.

xpc9kg.jpg "Ah, of-course," Stated the banker knowingly, "I hear trade's good in Dastan. I'm afraid the same is not so around here. The fall of the cloth trade devastated the Town. I'm glad to see though that our name still stands for quality though. I sincerely hope your business here goes well, because our City could really use new business partners. Most people don't know, but I hear from Marty's information gatherers that there's going to be a law passed really soon limiting our cloth-trade to a single company. Most people don't think this is a good thing, but personally, I think the security that could provide might allow us to re-solidify our standing in foreign markets for some-time. I suppose it depends on the direction the company takes with the deal though... and how they break it to the public. If public opinion is too negative this deal could fall flat on its face. You're not involved in that, are you? As for the Ennoc crackdowns, it's because the Church is losing its control of the public. Nowadays there are fewer truly devout Ennoc supporters, and they've had their fare-share of scandals. Its gotten so bad that they've hired a pair of rather unsavory underworld agents who don't keep a really low profile. The Church is doing everything in their power to maintain their stronghold over this town, including persecuting us as 'Heathens.' Their abusive ways can't last much longer though. I can't see the people of this fine city standing by the Church in their miss-guided, miss-managed actions."

He took the pen and paper from "Bridgette Rosalindt" and handed it nicely to Nessa.

Karie reacted with a look of surprise. This guy was too easy.

"My goodness that's awful! I do hope to deal with my business here soon then. The last hing I need is to be prosecuted as a... "heathen". As to your question as to whether I'm involved or not, this is the first I've heard of it. I'm not all that impressed personally since Brendenton cloth is in high demand back home, but alas, best I know now instead of later. You say Marty's here right now? Is it possible we could speak with him now?"

xpc9kg.jpg "Yes, he's in right now. He just finished assisting our priest in a sermon. I imagine you must have much to talk about with him. As I'm sure you've heard, he's the best source for any information you need on anything, political or economic. he should be in the vault where we hold our services, but he takes business meetings in the alley outside the bank. You can go see him if you'd like. All Mercutio worshipers are welcome, but he does charge for useful information." The banker said pleasantly. "I'm very pleased to hear that demand is growing in Dastan, they are one of our largest purchasers after-all. Oh, this is great news." he finished, smiling.

Nessa signed the paper giving a grim look to Karie. This was not over yet. It seemed that Nessa was about to get on Karie's throat. "My name is Nessa Anárion. Thank you for your information. It helped our 'business' alot.

Ka... ehm Bridgette, I have to talk to you, now."

Nessa took Karie at her collar and drag her into a corner. "Are you happy now? These lies will not bring us anywhere. Sooner or later this all will break down. And then you have to face the consequences! And one other thing: your greediness has just nearly ruined this quest. If I had that coin we would be a lot further."

Nessa turned away from Karie not willing to talk to her anymore and asked the clerk: "Good man, is there any other informaiton I need to know for our special 'business' here as Bridgette told you?" This stupid play was nothing for Nessa. A feeling of rage just growed inside her...

Drake laughed.

"Well, wasn't that easy? I thought we would have to go to drastic measures if we wanted to get info out of him! I'm just glad I'm not going to have to torture him, and he should be glad too."

Drake looked around.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Should we go yet?"

"Well, what are we waiting for? Should we go yet?"

"Felix, calm down. Everything is ok. We will be home shortly." Dreyrugr turns to the clerk. "Don't mind him. He hasn't been the same since his family were murdered by orcs. He lost a bit more than just his family." Dreyrugr said the last line as if reminising a horrible event he experienced himself while hoping that Drake's absentminded talking wouldn't make the clerk suspicious.

"This is Felix Furrgson and I'm Tirra Firma" Dreyrugr flashed a friendly smile hoping his lie would be bought while signing the paper.

The Banker frowned deeply upon hearing Drake's uncalled-for comments.

xpc9kg.jpg "What did you say your name was?" He asked Drake slowly and deliberately as he reconcealed the list of names and fiddled with something behind the counter. He looked as if he had just swallowed a live scorpion. "And where did you say you were from?" the sound of a liquid pouring onto paper could be heard behind his wooden desk.

Tired of waiting Nessa's rage broke out: "Listen, Mr. clerk. I have to see Marty, now! We don't have time for this jibber jabber. And what is this list for anyways?" By her tone Nessa made clear that she was not willing to stay here any longer doing nothing.

Karie could tell Nessa and Drake were going to put the scheme in jeopardy.

"You will have to excuse two them. They're mercenaries. These men and the little elf girl here are my bodyguards. I honestly can't stress how safer I feel having bodyguards around! They often blurt out things. He used to be a high ranking officer in the Dastan army, she saw some traumatic stuff at the battle of High Pass. Post war stress and all. I believe if we've all signed we'll be seeing Marty now, so if you could point us in the right direction we will be off. Pleasure talking to you! As for the deposit, I'm low on gold so here's 3 gold coins. Put it under the name Rosalindt will you? Tata!"

Karie dragged Nessa off by the cloak to the side, motioning Drake to follow. She whispers as loudly as she can, frustration in her voice.

"Just what the hell do you two think your doing?! Drake, just shut up, you aren't qualified for negotiating unless you use that blasted diplomatic air you have! Nessa, my god so help me I want to throw you over the bridge we passed! Because of me we know where Marty is, who's spreading the rumors, and that there are multiple informants! Did you think about that? This whole lie has got us to where we are now, so shut up, shut up, oh my god shut up!"

Nessa pulled herself off of Karie's grip. "The information you are talking about seems to be given to whomever has that coin showng to be a worshipper of Mercutioi. You simply were lucky on finding it... or should I say by snapping it up. But I agree on not talking any more. You probably have nothing to say to me, in the one or another way. And now, lead us, 'party leader'!" Nessa stopped. After she took a breath she said: "And don't you dare ever touching me like this again. Now I say it in friendly words :sarcasm_hmpf: . The next time, there will be no words anymore. So just be warned. I am not willing to be treated like this by a bobbysoxer. Now let us go to Marty!"

Karie was more than a little confused. She turned to Drake.

"What's a bobby soxer?"

She than turned back to Nessa, a look of irritation.

"And if this whole argument is about a stupid coin I don't wanna hear it. It's a coin. Deal with it. And I don't intend to touch you now. Might get arrogant, stuck up, angst germs."

She dispatches the huddle and heads in the direction the banker stated. (Once it's given to us.)

OOC: Yes, I know what a bobby soxer, don't worry.

Karie was more than a little confused. She turned to Drake.

"What's a bobby soxer?"

"Actually, I have no idea. It's probably just a made up word to be used as an insult, or maybe it's some kind of slave."

Drake looked around worriedly. He then turned to the Banker. He then put on a stereotypical British accent.

"By the love of a deity, my good man! Don't you feel sympathy for me? I've gone through much and seen many people killed and it isn't very pleasant, mind you. My entire village has been killed and my king has been kidnapped! And it was all because of orcs. I feel ashamed of myself. I never should have made that deal with the shady looking druid guy."

Drake sighed. If he had the ability to erase all of the mistakes he'd ever made, that would be number 1 on the list.

"Actually, I have no idea. It's probably just a made up word to be used as an insult, or maybe it's some kind of slave."

The less she thought about slavery the better. She didn't want to think about that green hooded jerk ever again. She felt her side. The scar would probably be with her for awhile.

"Well I'm as free as one can get. See, I take at least an hour out of every day just to paint myself white, not because I have to, but because I want to. How many people do you know are free enough to express themselves in such a manner?" She asked Drake.

Posted

"This is not about a coin. This is about principles of which you don't seem to have much", Nessa said forgetting that she wouldn't talk to Karie anymore. "And even decision made freely may lead you into slavery if you get addicted to the outcome of that decision. And now open that door! As for you are the party leader go ahead."

Posted

"Which door? We're waiting for Reginald to tell us where to go. Go ahead and look around, but if we get kicked out Miss Anarion I will consider docking your pay when we get back to Dastan!"

She waited for Nessa to get out of ear shot.

"Hypocrite." She mumbled.
