Posted March 22, 201311 yr Hello Community, I'd like to introduce myself by presenting my first MOC to this forum. I grew up playing with the monorail but always wanted to have the "real" trains. My parents never let me. However now I am fully into Lego trains and starting to make my own creations. Here it is. Inspired by Paddyb98 and mrblue I wanted to create a train that has all required PF elements and keep it small at the same time. First of all I want it for my 3 year old daughter. She really likes trains but has trouble putting them on the tracks with their moveable bogies. As you can see I tried to keep the body small as well. I plan to use the rechargeable battery box. So you don't have to disassemble the whole train to replace the batteries. There should be enough room for the PF cables. I also used only parts that are available by Lego. Now I'm waiting for my bricklink order to arrive to post pics from the finished product. One could also build it in green. All parts (or appropriate replacements) are available. Please tell me what you think Brick Pirate Edited March 22, 201311 yr by Brick Pirate
March 22, 201311 yr This is really cool. I especially like the wya you hid the elements with those doors.

March 23, 201311 yr Green looks great! Can't wait until my kids are old enough to blame my Lego addiction on them, I mean to play with them.
March 23, 201311 yr Just one word: MASTERPIECE! I want steal your project and realize a yellow model!
March 23, 201311 yr I like them both but in that little scene the green one looks nice. It fits in well with the countryside all around the engine well.
March 23, 201311 yr WOW! This has a lot of detail packed into the tiny shunter. My only question...Does it run?
March 23, 201311 yr Author Thank you for all the nice comments. I love it , try making a 8 wide variant to offset the height a bit! its tall Yes it is a little bit higher than my other trains as you can see on the picture below. But as for now I want to stick with 6 wide trains. Maybe I will review my decision once it's build in real. WOW! This has a lot of detail packed into the tiny shunter. My only question...Does it run? It has the battery box, IR receiver and RC train motor in it. So it should run. There is some space for the cables below the battery box, behind the receiver and in the driver's cab of course. I'll post a video once it's done, which will take some time because I have to import this piece in red from Europe. Just one word: MASTERPIECE! I want steal your project and realize a yellow model! Oh I forgot about yellow, That would be neat too. However I don't claim any copyrights. Here is the LDD file. Replacements for pieces that are not in LDD like the battery box and this one are grouped for better removal for the LDD Manager. March 23, 201311 yr Very nice, reminds me of my first HO locomotive from when I was 2. I too like the use of the doors to hide the PF components. Though if you build it in red, you could get the red battery box cover for the standard battery box.

Though if you build it in red, you could get the red battery box cover for the standard battery box. Haha, I started with HO too. My father gave me a few tracks and a little steam engine and I let it run in circles. He had a whole layout of course. When I learned about the red battery box, my model was almost done and I liked it the way it was. Especially the color scheme with the dual-gray stripe. Moreover you can use the rechargeable battery box which is not available in red as far as I know. Looks very nice. How do you intend to switch the loc on? Well, you have to remove one or two of the slopes on top of the battery box. I thought about changing it, but I didn't find a way without destroying the rounded up design. Once the battery box is switched on, you use the remote control. So long Brick Pirate

I would like to try something very similar with the new power up Bluetooth gear. Without the IR receiver there's probably a bit more room to fit everything in place although the new battery box will still make it look quite tall.
