Marvelfan120 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Just re-watched the mutation situation... Spoiler warning... I figured Mr.. O'neal would take the mutagen for April but I didn't see her telling off the turtles like that... thoughts? Do people think she'll make up with them or we'll she stay mad for a long time? Quote
Faefrost Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) And season 2 has begun! And it's off to a very good start. Overall a solid episode. It probably stands as one of the series better ones. Complete with a lot of setup for the rest of the season. It looks like we will be seeing LOTS of new and interesting mutant characters (and lots and lots of minifigs of them I hope ). I wonder at what point the Turtles will start to realize that absolutely no normal human that has ever laid eyes on them has walked away unscathed or unmutated? With the possible exceptions of April (who's life has been utterly destroyed by her associations with the Turtles and the Kraang) the blind sushi chef (who has never actually seen them.) and Kurai (who probably cannot be categorized as "normal"). As of this episode April seems to have figured this out. It will be interesting to see just how it all plays out? The show has some surprising and wonderfully dark and twisted undercurrents that I really enjoy. Not what I would expect from a modern kids show. (not that I am complaining). Bad things actually happen to major characters. And not just the bad guys. I like the steady progression of new toys and vehicles. It was particularly nice to see the glider packs from the S1 finale readily used again. Not crazy about the "Turtle Rocket" and I hope we don't see a set of it. It was also great to see Timmy has not been forgotten about. I really hope we get to see the fight with the super mutant squirrel Edited October 14, 2013 by Faefrost Quote

BlueberryWaffles Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 I loved this episode, buzz buzz. It felt darker than the others, buzz buzz. It was cool to see the new intro, with Metalhead and Mutagen Man is Don's lab, the new villian slide, and Casey, buzz buzz. I wonder how long April will stay mad at the Turtles, buzz buzz. Mikey seemed especially stupid in this one, buzz buzz. Squirrelanoids on Saturday, buzz buzz! TURTFLYTLE OUT! Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I know it will never happen but man I want a Turtflytle minifig lol Quote
BrickG Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Eh I'm less excited about this show now. When it first came out I really loved it. However after too many monster of the week things and a poor "made for children" end of the season I kind of... stopped loving it :P. The episodes where the story advances are the better ones. I usually dislike "filler". I don't like episodes that seem to be made simply to introduce a new Mutant/Toy as they don't add anything to the experience. They're nothing compared to like that episode where the four turtles faced off against Shredder. Then the season finale... geeze... it could have been so good. But I feel like they "kiddied" it. Probably the main thing that stuck out for me was Leo's "sacrifice". He stayed behind so his brothers could escape. Then the Technodrome crashed and... nope! Leo is right there somehow... He simply jumped on one of the flying things. I'm not saying he should have died but that was just stupid. Maybe he could have been trapped in the technodrome, captured, transported to dimension X. Would have made a good cliffhanger... something that wasn't "lol tricked you I'm actually fine and there was no need to worry"... Then April was never truly explained. And nobody is even asking the questions how she's "specially tuned" or whatever. Splinter's motivations behind basically everything is still kind of stupid. I really don't know why that lazy bum doesn't help out more often. He's obviously capable. Leaving EVERYTHING to his sons is irresponsible as heck. (this is more not focused on the season finale :P). On another note not about the season finale specifically... every NEW enemy is a challenge and often beats the crap out of the turtles. Remember when the Kraang for appeared? The turtles could barely damage them! Dogpound and Fishface? Besides Dogpound inexplicably physically shrinking he went from strongman to useless minion, same with Fishface. After the first encounter the enemies become fodder. Are the turtles just getting that much better? Doesn't explain it as like with the Kraang they showed tremendous physical strength. What? Are the turtles suddenly 10x more muscular? I also don't feel like the relationships are being explored enough. The turtles are just a group of brothers that get along pretty well and don't have many issues. Raph is even pretty touchy-feely. Oh and Mikey is still incredibly annoying. And I haven't been laughing as much as I swear there's more stupid idiotic Mickey humor than ever in the latest episodes. I really hate that guy. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 In Mutation Situation Mikey was SUPER dumb. Dunno why. In regard to the villains being weaker, I think half the thing is surprise. It's always harder the first time. Let's take Panic in the Sewers: They expected to fight men with no armor and ninja weapons. Instead they faced a huge doggie with a giant pounding arm. They didn't know his weaknesses. But after the battle, they could make a plan to take down doggies with whack-a-mole arms. Quote

Kintobor Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Alright, finally got around to seeing the first two episodes of season two, so I thought I'd share my thoughts. Mutation Situation: An all around good episode. I like the direction the season's going, with an emphasis on new mutants and the goal being to round up all the mutagen. I also like that Shredder and the Kraang are diverging, since it was a little weird to get used to at first, coming from someone who's not totally turtle savvy. HOWEVER, I fee l as if the episode has a huge plot hole in it, and it's April. I believe April isn't affected by Kraang mutagen, which was released into one of the harbours. If that's the case, why didn't she just take the mutagen to the face? She would've been fine? But no, April's dad's now a mutant. Nice plot twist, (particularly since he looks like Sean Bean ) and I like that April get's to show her teen angst, but it felt... I don't know, avoidable. April was starting to turn into someone who could fend for them self, and she can, but I feel as if she's still the damsel. That, and I feel as if the beginning was rushed. They could have taken some time to build up the episodes events, I felt. Overall, though, I liked it. Invasion of the Squirellanoids This episode was great! A loving homage to the Alien franchise, and incredibly freaky to boot! The fully mutated Squirrelanoids were truly and genuinely disturbing, and I love how they look with the little squirrel head for the tongue! The episode was obvious filler, but filler's not always bad. I'm also starting to believe that Splinter is the series Bill Murray stand in! I love how dry he can get! Not one of my favourites, but still really good! Quote
Faefrost Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 My take on the next two episodes Follow the Leader - with the exception of them retreading the season one story about Leo doubting his leadership, I loved this episode. More Karai is always good, and Splinters revelation to Leo at the end was great. Seeing the foot coming closer to their more classic stylings and threat was also great. Not to mention the mystery of what Shredder is off doing. It's obvious that Karai is starting to go through some emotional turmoil. Watching her direct that through Leo towards Splinter was great. I just hope they don't leave this story arc set aside for too long. Mutagen Man Unleashed - we finally start to get some payoff to the April situation from The Mutation Situation. And Casey Jones enters the picture. It's an amusing take on the character. Not quite what I was expecting, but I don't hate the kid. The whole Pulverisor situation just gets darker and sadder. I really hope Lego figures out a way to give us a Mutagen Man fig of some sort. Maybe brick built? The story in this one was a bit predictable for the most part. But handled well. The opening 2 minutes with the spoof of classic anime and Voltron in particular was priceless. I hope we see more of it. The one downside to these two stories. It almost feels like they are starting to have too many balls in the air. They have too many open and unresolved story arcs for them to really start being able to do them all justice. April, Karai, Shredder, Krang, Timothy, etc. So much so that the Turtles themselves are starting to become more the MST3K style audience to their own show. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I think you said everything I wanted to. I'm glad April's back, she's really one of my favorite characters next to Karai and Splinter. I was worried at first, but it seems this season's already going in the right direction. I'm really liking Casey Jones. He's a loveable jerk, just the way he should be. I was worried about the casting of Josh Peck, but he's really doing a good job. I also forgot to mention the reference to the '90 movie in Invasion of the Squirrellanoids, where I believe Raph makes a remark about him in a trench coat and how ridiculous that would be. If you haven't seen that, go and find it. I found it surprisingly well done! As well, wasn't there some panther guy they showed off at Comic-Con, and didn't they say he was from Japan? I'd assume that's who Shredder's going to see. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Alright, this needs a boost. Time for more Turtle Talk with your neighbourhood analyst Kintobor. Note, spoilers below. You've been warned... The Good, the Bad, and Casey Jones- Just an all around perfect episode. Action, comedy, new characters, winks and nods to other turtles media, this was just a great episode, and a great way to get back from the hiatus. The whole episode builds to this fight scene in the layer, and the segue into it was a great nod to the first live action movie. Josh Peck does a great job as everyone's favourite neighbourhood vigilante Casey Jones, and I love the take on him. I don't know if I've said this before, but as odd as it was to make April and Casey teenagers, it actually works really well, since it makes them more relatable to the turtles being teenagers themselves. Also, love the war paint going on with Casey under the mask. Now just release the darn mini fig, Lego! The action was awesome, we got to see Irma for the first time (who was fun for the minute we saw her), Raph was a blast, and I came out of the episode really having a good time! The fight scene on top of the subway train deserves special mention. All in all, great episode! One of the best episodes so far! The Kraang Conspiracy- We finally get some answers as to what April is in terms of why the Kraang need her, and it's quite a bombshell, if a bit predictable. Okay, it's not 100% predictable, but still, it's a WTF moment, in a good way. John Kurtzman was a fun character, and I hope we see more of him. I like the idea of a reporter turned investigator, it makes the world seem bigger and less turtle focused, as if there's other things going on outside of the lair and what we see. Also gotta mention Nolan North's portrayal of the Kraang, since he just does such a great job portraying the Kraang and their strange, robotic, and sometimes downright eerie voices. Also, more on April's mom, but no clear sign of what happened to her, other than "she was abducted by the Kraang before April was born". In terms of production value, it keeps getting better. The scene in Kurtzman's office is just awesome in terms of it's ambient lighting with the flashlights. It really gives it this spooky look to it. The fight scenes were entertaining, and the episode got rather menacing at times. The April clones were downright bewildering and spooky, and Derpril was just... what? I don't know, it was weird. I half expected all the April clones to start yelling "Fun! Fun! Fun!" Someone go make that, please. Then we get to the reveal. April's a human/Kraang hybrid. A mutant. It's like coming out of Bioshock Infinite. Everything I know is wrong. And I think I love. Quote
BrickG Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Too much filler. My patience is thinning. I really like some of the episodes. Am "meh" about all the filler in between. You can get rid of like 75% of the episodes and still have the main plot perfectly and also have a better (yet shorter) show. :P Many of the episodes seem to be nothing more than "monster of the week" stuff made to sell another toy. BlueberryWaffles Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Fungus Humongus was a great episode. The Casey/Donnie rivalry is starting...... Quote
Oky Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Ugh. I don't care if he's not directing; this has Michael Bay written all over it. I'm trying to stay optimistic, especially since Shredder looks so cool, but the Turtles's faces look so ugly and I don't think I even have to comment on the miscasting of April. This seems to have all the usual flaws of a Bay movie. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. I just hope that it wont kill the TV series like The Last Airbender almost did. http://blip.tv/cbr/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-teaser-trailer-6791131 http://youtu.be/nCjsWpM9zFU Quote
Kintobor Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Wait, isn't Bill Fichtner playing the Shredder? Oh, wait... what? He is the Shredder... but he's also... what? Oh wow, I already don't like this. As Oky said, this has Bay written all over this. And I don't hate Bay as a director! I love The Island! It's just when he produces... Quote
Savage Oppress Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 movie looks lame like all of those lame Transformers movies. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I was actually pleasantly surprised by the movie trailer. They've kept the Turtles' classic sense of humor and goofiness, and my biggest fear was that they were going to drop that. The Turtles don't look very ugly to me, either - just take a look at the old man-in-suit Turtles in the old films (which are only kind of good, really), and they too look fairly freaky and ugly. I don't know what people expect mutant turtles to look like, but this is good-looking rendition in my eyes. April is certainly not very much like any April that ever was before, and so in that way, that aspect isn't great. I'm no huge Megan Fox fan either. But then again, the trailer doesn't show you enough to pass judgement on how she will be in the movie. Seeing that the Turtles might actually have personalities, I'm excited for this now. Quote
Ultron Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) I bet this movie will be all about April instead of the turtles themselves. Michael Bay likes to ruin franchises by giving supporting characters the spotlight instead of who the movie should be about. Hence transformers being about stupid humans instead of the transformers.. Looks good but I don't no why the hate it so much. It's because no one likes Michael Bay. He ruins things. I certainly don't trust him with this no matter how "good" he can make it seem. This was my childhood and I'm sure it will be ruined by his gapping plot holes and terrible storylines. Edited March 28, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Yeah, I wouldn't pour a lot of hate at the guy. I, personally found the transformer movies to be quite enjoyable and I don't have a huge knowledge of the "mythos" of the comics, shows, etc. You aren't obligated to watch anything you don't want to! What else did you expect mutated turtles that live in a sewer to look like? This might of topic a bit, but what was the cgi movie they made a few years any good? I've been considering finding it.. Darth Lurtz Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I wouldn't pour a lot of hate at the guy. What else did you expect mutated turtles that live in a sewer to look like? This might of topic a bit, but what was the cgi movie they made a few years any good? I've been considering finding it.. Perhaps you enjoyed the movies because you didn't have a previous attachment to it? Already existing fans have a preconceived notion about what franchise they're into should be about. When a new film comes out that goes against it , fans should be able to voice their criticisms. Not all change is bad if it fits with a certain context; When it doesn't, then there is a problem. It's also hard to ignore a film since it will be what the public will be fixated on. Mutants should be ugly (except in the case of the X-Men), however this film takes it to an extreme. Their monstrous sizes would interfere greatly with stealth, something that is necessary for ninja. Also how are they suppose to go through manhole covers if they're so large? There are other issues with this movie as well, such as a white Shredder and April O'neil being portrayed by an actress like Megan Fox. These are perfectly valid concerns to have in regards to the upcoming film. As for the 2007 film, don't bother. It has a good visual style and a great cast, but the story is very generic. For a recommendation, I'd suggest reading the current IDW series. It changes things up but still remains faithful to the original mythos. It even has Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of TMNT involved with it. Edited March 29, 2014 by Darth Lurtz Quote
