Zed_43 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) Hi everyone! Here is my entry for the Servo Shodown! This is my first participation to a contest and my first MOC posted here on Eurobricks!!! This contest was really interesting and motivating! And the contestants are all really friendly! I decided to go with a Shell satation with a few custom stickers as I had no Shell bricks and I didn't wanted to have another Octan MOC/Set!!! There is 3 vehicules (Pickup, mini and moto), 4 minifigs! Hope you will appreciate my work! So here are the photos: Edited March 25, 2013 by Zed_43 Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Ouch, nice servo.....I think 'ER0L' and yourstruly have a worthy combatant here ! Old pistols for pump nozzles.....very original and that bike......ouch again is my side building enough to battle against a brick-built bike ? I notice those fuel and oil cans...... .....good luck in the battle 'Zed_43' and Brick On ! Quote
Phazon Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I really like all the details like the motorbike, the jerrycans, the pumps, not to mention the brilliant carwash! My only critisism would be that the roof above the petrol pumps is a not wide enough. Great job! Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks you very much guys! I notice those fuel and oil cans...... ..... Yes! ^^ I saw that technic to build cans a long time ago on brickshelf. But to be honest, I will never had reminded it if you didn't use it for your entry^^. And then, walking in a service station next the highway (a shell station), I saw a Helix advertisement! And came to me the idea to make helix cans in their real color scheme (but I think they have changed packaging now) (I reminded this color scheme: gray and yellow that was on those cans when I fed the car and oil shelves when I was working in a supermarket as a summer job some years ago)!!! Thanks a lot phazon! Quote
PsyKater Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I am glad that I quit the competition as this is ingenious! Very well done. All those details Quote
Wedge09 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Great work  Full of details (the motorcycle is great) and very real Quote
Andy D Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Very nice! A real contender. I like the modern servo. The only confusing thing for me is the gasoline prices, I looked at it and thought tha I had not seen prices like that in 30 years, then I realized that you are fom France, so that would be price per litre, not price per gallon. I really like all the little details, and as someone else said... "great use of pistols for dispensing nozzles". Just one example of the innovation in your MOC. I can't get over all the details and attention to detail... I believe this S/B a real winner. Andy D Quote
theDeanoRama Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Great attention to detail here, the pumps, the compressor, the car wash .... heck even the 100's being passed over the counter are pretty accurate based on our current gas prices! decent set of cars as well and I absolutely love the bike Quote
eurotrash Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Wow, there's a lot to enjoy in your entry Zed_43, I like all the fettling you've done with things like the pump handles, the air tanks, & the car wash. The Signage is excellant and the attention to detail in the interior is superb! Thanks for sharing it with us! This competition is bringing the best from everybody! Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thank you all!!! I am really pleased you like it!!! To answer some of you about gas prices: -I live in France, so yes, prices here are in euro per liter. They are a bit higher than what you can see on my panel. Actually, around 4 years ago it was around 1€ per litre for gazole, but it rises to 1,39€ today. (with some peaks at 1,5€). So I delibarately choose to set this price at 1,250 € per liter which represents for me a compromise between ideal and actual price! -Counters here always has 4 digits, 3 of them after the decimal point! I don't even know how much a galon is in liters... But I know how much a pint is^^ The clock is funny.... Funny? lol, why? Ijust realised that the technic pin is not place like it should be... We should not see it. I will arrange that! Quote
jimmynick Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 This has so many wonderful details - great job! The sign with all the petrol prices is very recognisable. The little shop is well-done, too, as are the Mini and motorcycle. I love the motorcycle's engine cylinders! Quote
ER0L Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Wow, great entry Zed_43! I love the overall design, but especially those very nice details you've put in here: the airtank with that nice upside-down technique, the fuel nozzles (great idea, in German a fuel nozzle is a "Zapfpistole", literally "draw pistol" ) and the motorbike, of course. The interior is very nice, too. Great job on this, good luck! Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thank you very much james, thanks EROL. Your entry is also great! In french we simply call it "pistolet" which means pistol^^. (but it is not the name that gave me this idea). I have been searching and testing a lot of ways to make those nozzles. I found some good ideas but all of them where really too big! Quote
Aussie BJ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 So much eye candy my head is hurting Zed_43 you've created an amazing display which could double as an official set (but probably minus a few of the extremely well built accessories) I just don't know what to comment on, from the paper towel rolls to the moving car wash but then that air compressor that's fantastic. Then that motorbike is a sure attention getter! The only thing that stands out to me are the studs on the awning, but that's nothing. A great entry and first post Zed_43 well done! PS Photo's are also well done with clear backgrounds and crystal clear photo's. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I actually just noticed the car wash.....interesting design, it would fall over too easy though and everyone would get wet when filling up to the pumps wouldn't they ? Quote

I'm not sure to understand what you mean, but if you're worried about stability, it never falls. And yes, it's a bit too close to the pumps, but size is limited^^!!! Thanks a lot for your comment Aussie I am really flattered!!! And I will take your notice about the awning into account for further improvment! PS Photo's are also well done with clear backgrounds and crystal clear photo's. Thanks again, but I have no merit, being an amateur photographer for several years now! I have the right gear for this kind of photos (good camera, big lenses, flashes and umbrellas!). But I don't have the habit to work on tiny things like LEGO! I usually work with people^^ Edited March 25, 2013 by Zed_43 Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Totally cool!!! This Shell station could be an original lego set ...the billboard with the prices is amazing, the red compressor impressive and the motorbike a real masterpiece! You've great skills! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Great job on the Shell station. Very nice modern styling. Good luck in the competition Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Thanks a lot LEGO Train12V and LEGO GuyBri!!!! Quote
jonwil Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Nice job on a nice looking shell station. I love the oil containers, the use of the revolvers for fuel nozzles, the custom stickers and all the little details you added. Quote
tman684 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Wow. The set of 1999 Shell sets were my first legos (after duplos of course). They will always hold a special place in my heart. Although they're in pieces scattered around in my many buckets, I think I'll put something like this on my to-build list. Thank you for making this!! Quote
Zed_43 Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Thnaks a lot. And I'm happy to bring you a bit of nostalgy tman!!! Quote
L@go Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 This is a great entry, and one that will certainly make voting more difficult. I like the whole look of it, and the fact that you've managed to cram so many details into it - a 32x32 baseplate isn't really that big when you start filling it up with stuff! Your gas station is busy, no doubt about it, but not cluttered. I especially like the details at the front - the pipes, taps and that tank - and of course that lovely brick-built bike. Very well done - if you're planning on continuing to build in this quality, I very much look forward to what else you might post here on EB! Quote
