Posted March 29, 201311 yr This is my first post on eurobricks, and I thought this would be a nice way to introduce myself. I have recently finished my first real MOC. It is a model of Stephenson's Rocket as it was built in 1829. The locomtive itself is quite small which made it difficult to get the right shape, and still be able to add the details. However the biggest challenge was not the locomotive itself but the tender, since I really wanted it to have the same timbered structure as the prototype. More phots can be found on Brickshelf: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=525528 Comments and feedback is most welcome.
March 29, 201311 yr Amazing! You put so many details in such a small train. I like how you build the tank. I wonder how you did it. However I cannot see your pics on brickshelf. It's not open to public yet. Welcome to Eurobricks! Brick Pirate
March 29, 201311 yr Great engine. It has many nice details and I'm looking forward to see more pictures in brickshelf.
March 29, 201311 yr Wow that is so cool So many details on such a small model. Welcome to Eurobricks from me too.
March 29, 201311 yr You've done a super job on the Rocket. The proportions look right and it's obvious that some careful thought has gone into the design. Well done and thanks for sharing it with us.
March 29, 201311 yr Really good looking Rocket there and the tender as everyone is saying, so detailed. Would love to have a Rocket myself, but I am not sure I could do the same level of detail on something that small.
March 29, 201311 yr very nice work, I think the half barrels at the back for the tank ends work really well, will look to make something like this in the future
March 29, 201311 yr A delightful design of such a famous train.....the first in the world......Brick On 'TheLET'.......plus welcome to EB too !
March 29, 201311 yr The boiler is... wow! Great job getting the silver bands and the yellow panels in not too much space. And the pointy chimney - that's really clever to use horns. Excellent job and welcome to Eurobricks!
March 29, 201311 yr This is a very nice Moc But I know I have seen this exact same Moc before last year....
March 29, 201311 yr Author Thanks for all the reactions. I'm glad you liked it. She looks cool. How did you do that wall on the tender? The wall of the tender is made sideway placed bricks with and offset tile on it. The wall has an 1x1x1 panel in it in order to generate room to attach the tile. This is a very nice Moc But I know I have seen this exact same Moc before last year.... This makes me curious, but I'm pretty certain that you are mistaken. I just finished this MOC last week and besides I don't think that some of the parts like these were available last year.
March 30, 201311 yr Beautiful work there TheLET, I thought Flickr user and LUGPol member Kris Kelvin model of the Rocket was very impressive and hard to top, but your model surpasses that easily, the detail you have poured into the tender and the motion is superb. Here is a link to Kris Kelvins rendition .
March 30, 201311 yr Wow, that is a very delicate build, a very impressive way to say hello. An excellent build! That tender looks like it quite tricky (and a little clippy). It is very hard to get all the detail you want into such a small package like that. A great build.
March 30, 201311 yr That's a great model! And as others have said, the parts used to make the boiler and that barrel are just perfect for the job. Very well done, and a great way to introduce yourself. Welcome! I'm guessing it's a static model - because that piston won't move, will it? Still lovely :) This is a very nice Moc But I know I have seen this exact same Moc before last year.... Yeah, you're probably thinking about this. Which is very similar - but it would be, as it's modeled after a real machine... Edited March 30, 201311 yr by L@go
March 30, 201311 yr Author The piston system works fine however the piston itselves goes slightly up and down when the trains moves. Yeah, you're probably thinking about this. Which is very similar - but it would be, as it's modeled after a real machine... That explains it. That is indeed another very good MOC.
April 6, 201311 yr This is absolutely amazing. I like how perfectly you managed to create all those round shapes on such a small scale. It must have taken some interesting techniques to create all those details. I hope the creation is still sturdy enough for normal handling. Having seen a lifesize replica in NRM York some years ago, I must say that this one looks even better than the real one.
October 25, 20195 yr Very nice. It's to bad that Lego doesn't release something like this as an ideas set.

I’ve always thought this would be an ideal Expert set.  We’ve had a modern passenger train, a modern cargo train, and a 20th century steam train - but no 19th century trains, and this is the obvious choice.Â
November 9, 20213 yr hi, this is amazing and having just seen the real Rocket at the NRM in York my son loves it, Are there any instructions so i could build one for his Christmas present?
