Starwars4J Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Just a minor update: It's now the number 1 seller on US S@H Quote
Hobbes Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Just a minor update:It's now the number 1 seller on US S@H It was already yesterday. And here in Austria, too, that surprised me a bit. Not only because it's considerably more expensive (549 Euro compared to 499 USD which is about 393 Euro) but because Austria is also a lot smaller. But there's obviously a market for that here. In Germany it's not even in the top 25 *wacko* Quote

In Germany it's not even in the top 25 *wacko* Not even in the top 25!? For the last three days, the Falcon has been number 3 on German S&H. As for the model itself, words cannot describe how beautiful it is. This is the one set I've always wanted TLC to make. I have already pre-ordered it and cannot wait for it to arrive. Once construction is done, I hope it is stable enough to mount it vertically to one of my living room walls. You know, just like the Falcon hid from the Imperial fleet by clinging to the side of an ISD in The Empire Strikes Back. Come to think of it, I'll probably put the 4504 minifigs in the cockpit to recreate that scene completely. I'm aware that one will not be able to see the bottom when I mount it this way, but as pictures already showed, there's not much to see there apart from the second turret. Quote

snefroe Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 While this is true for sets in general, of course, it doesn't really apply for the falcon, does it? ;-) well i guess it's easier for the MF to reach #1 position if it's only available on s@h. As a customer there's no other way but to go through the s@h for the MF, not so with other city sets... Quote

Well, I'm just talking about the falcon, and it being #1 in a small country (AT) with a smaller market and a high price (EUR 550) compared to a big country (US) with a bigger market and a lower price (EUR 393) ;-) Quote
Vader Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 You know im really surprised at how fast the falcons climbed the charts, with such a huge price tag i thought for sure it would take at least a few weeks to get that high. :-/ Quote

X-D first, Lego has a marketing campaign: order it now, we'll pay for the shipment. surely several people are trying to save 50euro on shipping costs...; second, the latest trend in Lego shopping indicates that people don't wait for sets to arrive in the shops. More and more people buy a copy of the hottests sets, like the army building sets, via s@h asap and third, the certificate is a big deal for many collectors. Quote

natelite Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 TLG doesn't care about what you pay your government. the net sales to tlg is eur460 and $500. plus you can't compare us prices to eu prices. you have to include shipping cost, which will be a deal breaker in this case. not to mention if you ship from us, you get to pay custom taxes. That's not what I'm comparing. I'm comparing what I pay (not what TLG makes) by buying it in Europe and have it shipped here (which is free), and buying it in the US and have it shipped there (which is also free). S@H won't let me buy in the US and have it shipped to Europe. So, EUR 550 vs. EUR 393. But that was not my point. My point was my surprise seeing the falcon being in the top 3 so fast with that price tag ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 G, talk about a set killer :-D Lool, you guys amaze me, instead of talking about the beauty of the set, the greatness of the bonus MFs (and what have you), you "argue" on prices and taxes !! *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 i think i'm gonna buy this one in a year or so and modify the interior... and ah yes... that canopy has to go *sweet* . Quote
Dark Brick Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 i think i'm gonna buy this one in a year or so and modify the interior... and ah yes... that canopy has to go *sweet* . Hopefully you do not end up paying through the nose for it in a year. :-P Since we are on the topic of taxes here is an idea of what it costs in the U.S. I have 2 on order, total came out to be $1089 U.S. or $827.74 Euro. :-X The tax in this case is equivalent to about 9%, which is kind of steep, but the free shipping makes up for it. *y* DB Quote
stan Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 If you order from a lego store you can get it shipped to you on release, and when it comes you can take your receipt in to store to get stamps. Makes the price a little more stomachable. The salesperson i spoke to said he didnt know the first edition run number, but suggested that it would be until the offer of free shipping expires. Quote
herrluke Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Wow, that looks great! When you zoom in, it almost looks like there are minifigs in the cockpit... interesting. The detail is fantastic! Any idea how much? Rumor was $500 (US). It does have minifigs in the cockpit. :-) Quote
OOM-9 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I think I've found a flaw in the authenticity of the set to the real MF. I hope to be proven wrong when I get it but I think TLC overlooked one of the coolest features, the pop-down laser cannon from the docking bay in A New Hope. Since the set includes Kenobi I think they mean for this to be the first time people saw the MF so I cant believe they overlooked this feature. While by no means is it the end of the world, it was a semi-important feature that I think would only take a couple pieces to make. I think TLC was a little lazy here like they were with the canopy and those odd fence things on the back. Quote

The fence things are the riggins from the Pirate era. I couldn't think of another piece to use for the cockpit than those, plus it'd be more acurate with those. Quote

I personally am not to worried about the gun, or lack thereof. Or the lack of an interior. The model is stunning and I have a couple of friends who want me to call them when I get so they can help build it. The night all the Epiosde II and III sets came out, there was myself and those 2 sitting here drinking beer and playing with Lego till like 6 in the morning. Good times!! Still not sure about calling them or not, I may decide to have all the fun with this myself. With beer of course!! Jamie Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I wish I could buy one. How many people have bought one? -ZotS Quote
