Well, I've seen them in zoos, but I've never seen one eating out of my birdfeeder. But hey, we're America, if we want an ostrich, we get an ostrich! :look:

Notie that the Licensed forum banner still says, "Eurobricks: uniting LEGO fans around the world." I would think that they would go as far to change it to Ameribricks. The joke seems a little underdone because of that. Maybe this could count as evidence.

Probably sounded too much like Cannabis, Which is what I think the Admins were smoking when they came up with this Joke.

Are you 90 years old? Who calls it cannabis? Scientists?

I will probably leave EB come on America is one country no AMERICANISATION!!!!!

Technically, Europe is one Continent, America is two. Ameribricks is actually more inclusive than Eurobricks was.

Right... this isn't even funny anymore, not that it was to start with. It seems that this is real. Not that anyone will really care but I'm done here. The name is frankly appaling- it's not even catchy. Way to promote the hobby, by being extremely exclusive.

Oh noes! :cry_sad: Will you come back if we change the name to UKBricks? Or RaincloudDustbinBricks? :cry_happy: Pweeeeeeeease!!

America is more than one continents? Did one of the states succeed? :look:

I personally do not like the name at all, but whatever. I never saw the name EuroBricks as indicating that the site was based in Europe. AmeriBricks? Give me a break.... :imperialguard_commander1:

I am so hoping that this is still a joke. The stereotyped banner gives me hope. I am a US citizen and live in the USA, but I could care less whether a great forum about a great hobby is "American," European, Asian, or anything else.

Why Eurobricks is a fine name for the site:

  • LEGO is a European-based company and their product is still made largely in Europe (can't say that for most 'Murican companies).
  • Much of US culture comes from Europe (as much as we try to pretend otherwise). Heck, most of us are only a couple of generations away from immigrant ancestors.
  • I cannot imagine a US citizen AFOL who would not be open-minded enough to join an English-language LEGO forum called "Eurobricks" and if they were not, they wouldn't really belong here anyway, would they?

If it's not a joke, at least tone down the banner please! We don't all wear cowboy hats and watch football over here! Hey, it's time to feed my ostrich...

I think the site is good the way it is. I don't think it should be centered on Americans, Europeans or people from any other continent. We come here to talk about Lego.

If you are thinking about changing the name and address of EuroBricks, then change it to something else instead of this or that point of view -- make it GlobalBricks, WorldBricks, Uni(versal)Bricks or something along those lines.

I'm not European, i'm not American (at least not in the way people usually mean it -- for I'm SOUTH American) and just by checking on people's countries, I'd say Eurobricks is a global, universal communitiy, not a community centered on this or that culture.

Mind you: I have no problem whatsoever with Americans, Europeans, Asians or with people from any other place/people/culture/background, but I don't think the focus of the site should be this or that people/culture.

The world has been -- and still is -- moving to new, borderless days -- especially since the internet -- and to change the name of a forum/website to one that focus on this or that culture is a step back in my humble opinion.

And so we chould go global, universal, not narrow it to this or that point of view.

I could not possibly agree with you two members any more than I do now, so I will say 'amen!' to these comments!!! Also, I just joined here about only 6 weeks ago (though I have been lerking on here since late 2005 or early 2006 {me blushing and laughing at the same time}, but I did not feel compelled to become a member here until I discovered that LEGO really messed up with the Legends of Chima theme :sing::damn:, back in mid-January of this year, with the TV show's characters versus the same characters in other LEGO media and release schedule of the episodes (it being among other reasons that are COMPLETELY unrelated to the Legends of Chima theme ), so I just had to get these issues of mine out in the open), so I will be extremely disappionted here if the name of the website changes to "Ameribricks", for me to say the least.:sing::wink:

What about BrickingtonBricks? Oh wait, there is already one. :innocent:

Also, besides North America, have you heard of South America? I heard that place is just like North America, but South.

So, you joined to reveal your anger about the Chima theme (yet you say you're a Cragger fan :look: ), so you'll be mad if the site changed its name? Doesn't really make sense..... (Just know that I'm poking fun at you. )

Ninjaing (yeah that's a word) comes natural to me because I'm a 'Murican! And that guy, I think, is a fan of Cragger being good. Hence Good Cragger Fan.

Alert! Thread titles in the Website forum have switched from using the phrase EB to AB! This seems more and more legit as it goes on! Maybe this was timed to seem like a joke while isn't. I hope not! The 'site wouldn't change in content but the integrity of EB would be ruined.I have never heard " 'Murican" before today. Where did it come from?

:look: Uh... You just said the same thing three times, 8BrickMario. That makes me proud to be a 'Murican! :grin_wub:

Oh and I am leaving this thread for a whole minute, so you guys can get some relief.

Ummmm, I'm 'Murican too, and I actually do Karate! I wanna Ninja somebody! Well, he said he hated Chima. Still, his post made no sense either way. :sadnew:

Gotta say, I don't like this.

It seemed like a joke at first, but it's been a few days and nothing has changed (Well except you know that one thing...where everything changed). I will say that if it is a joke, then you "fooled" me (and others), but at least I get the Eurobricks back I wanted.

And in all honesty, I do find the banner a bit insulting (Though that may be too strong of a word). To me (An American), it does come off like it's making fun of Americans. I could see this both alienating Americans who think this is about making fun of them and alienating Non-Americans who now see this as intentionally excluding them. Also the colors hurt my eyes...they hurt almost as much as having to accept change!

Change it back! Or I go...back…solely to Flickr? (Er something!—someone make a better chant, quickly!)

We call it Texas.

April 1st to April 2nd is a few days? I'm trying to remember if April 1st to April 2nd was a few days in 2012, but that was like 10 years ago!

I just put some thinking into it and I think I have realized something. I think the name change to EuroBricks to AmeriBricks is fine, it's not a big deal. But the fact of having American flags everywhere and the theme and banner is what ticks some people off. I understand having the new banner on the first month of the change, but after April I would intend to have the banner change for theme months like it has been. When the website was called Eurobricks, the staff didn't have European flags in their avatars and the theme colors weren't of the colors of Europe and the banner wasn't filled with European flags and minifigs and I think the people who are upset are noticing that. Who agrees?
