They should've called it globalbricks, universalbricks, worldwidebricks (this one is pretty cool actually) and not a specific area.

I don't get all the fuss over the name...you're going to leave because of what a banner says...really?do you sit tier and stare at it or something? I rarely even see it.

To the people being "excluded". Well, how about before when the name was Eurobricks? There are plenty of other countries around the globe. Clearly, the name never stopped us non-Euro folk from joining this site. Unwad your panties and enjoy the site like you always have.

Geez. I'm gone for just a month or two, and this is what I find when I get back? What is the world coming to? :hmpf:

By which of course I mean:

...of COURSE Ameribricks is a great name! The only problem is that the banner is missing tanks, jet fighters, and rampant cultural imperialism. I imagine that if those were made a part of the new look, you would have a lot fewer complaints!

America: the only country that truly matters, and Ameribricks: the only LEGO community worth belonging to.

Now we just need to work out what precious natural resource(s) Classic-Castle is sitting on, what with its laughably outdated military.

Remember how the banner for Eurobricks said "Uniting Lego Fans Around The Word"? That was more inclusive than Ameribricks, not just for that slogan, but the site imagery and theme as a whole.

The best option on the part of Eurobricks staff would have been to create a poll about the name change, so the community could truly put their input/opinion in, because, quote, this is a "Major Change" to the site's identity. Other than the one-nation-targeting that Devorath and others have pointed out, I really find the lack of any pre-decision utilisation of the actual Eurobricks community's opinion offensive.

Yes. Imagine if the community didn't exist. The staff would have nothing to do, and Hinck would probably become a terrorist, but my point is, us members are the reason Eurobricks was founded. After all, there wouldn't need to be a forum if we didn't exist. Although most of the staff try hard, and spent a lot of time working on the forum, we are they reason they go to such an effort.

It's all these wildly varying opinions and heated discussion that really gives this joke American authenticity, not the theme.

Its only authentic if the arguing is done without the intention of reaching no resolution because both sides are too stubborn, and then in the end nothing is changed and the debt ceiling is raised again and no one has any idea what's going on.

Political statement? Maybe. Informed statement? No.

Also, seriously, what's the debt ceiling, and why does it matter if our only solution is deciding to deal with it later by raising it?

Devorah, yeah, basically. I am really grateful for all the stuff the staff do, but the community of Eurobricks is the site's lifeblood, and I feel it was stuffed around by not giving us options. Although I don't think poor Hinckley would appreciate being called a would-be-terrorist! Nice signature, if I do say so myself... :sadnew:

London, England.

And yet you need to say London, England...

London is that carbuncle down on the south edge who sometimes forgets that there is a lot more of England and the UK beyond them. (I love London really, but I have to jest, 's in the blood - CYMRU!!!)

And also the only city in England / Britain / UK / Just London, depending on the outsider.

Well y'know... There's always London, Ontario.

. Unwad your panties and enjoy the site like you always have.

The staff REQUESTED our opinions. Why do you feel the need to be demeaning just because our opinion differs from yours, when it was actually ASKED for?

Further signs of immaturity and arrogance...

Love the people continuing to insist that it should be "Earthbricks" or the like to truly be more inclusive. That would make a lot of sense...

...which is precisely the opposite of the point of this change. Can't you tell it's a joke? Eurobricks will be back to its old self in due time. The whole thing is a joke about various absurd U.S. stereotypes (pasttimes like American Football, ridiculous levels of patriotism, and the general idea of America wanting to impose its ideas on the rest of the world). The joke is based on a ridiculous image of America that few of the members here, American or not, really truly believe in. It's not really a joke at the expense of American or non-American members here. But if you're falling for it, or even expressing outrage at it, the joke is at YOUR expense. So just have a laugh, it's all in good fun. Nothing here has changed outside of the banner.

This is just a (hopefully) a bad joke. Maybe we should put a for/against poll at the top to sway the admins if it's real. That may accomplish something.

The hypocrisy prevents those topics, while they are against the will of the moderators and shall therefore be locked.

I get it. I (and others) have been fuelling this for the past couple of days. Was not having a good time yesterday but doesn't excuse some offensive comments...

What's missing in the new identity is that ameribricks should start a global Lego crisis and things like that. Maybe some international racial wars, I am also missing a more republican perspective with someone like George Bush on the banner. Don't forget these important influences!
