dont stop making Jabbas Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hi I am new to this forum and I am here because of worrying news I have read today and yesterday. I have read on numerous news pages from several different countries on both days that LEGO is going to stop making its Jabbas Palace toy because a group of Muslims from Turkey have said it is offensive to their religion. As someone who grew up with both Lego and Starwars, and as a citizen of a country with full freedoms of speech thought and religion I find this news beyond belief. Although lots of people are greeting it as an April fools joke my research indicates that it is not a joke and is deadly serious. My response has been to set up a protest group on facebook which can be found at http://www.facebook.com/groups/395451067228976/ and I am hoping all Lego lovers will join me in protest.
Brickdoctor Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Already being discussed here. TLG is reportedly said to have agreed to stop making the Palace in 2014... when it would have been retired anyways. (and technically, by now the production run is usually already over and they're selling the sets they have stocked up in their warehouses) Really, if TLG is indeed "stopping production in 2014", they're not actually going to do anything differently from what they normally would have done with this set and its availability.
