JJ.walkers Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 the official lego string or rope, thats what I think *sweet* Quote
lego fox Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) Me personaly I use 40 LBS black fishing line that I get from FleetFarm for smaller standing rig and this black craft string I get at Michaels for heavier standing line. For running line I'm still loking for the right tan or hemp color rope for the running line. Preferrably sinthetic that way I dont need to be preocupied with decay. I have a wood hall to keep me bissey Edited June 2, 2009 by lego fox Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I used hemp string cord (I believe its called jewelry cord) for the rigging of the Sang royal.. It has the right color and most ships where rigged in hemp rope.. I also used the thicker lego system rope for the mainstay and the forestay rigging rope, as they where black from being covered in tar... I doubled the stays up and wrapped them as they are in real life. -Admiral Béjaune Quote
Fluyt Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Some masonry string works pretty wel (the kind masons use to make sure the wall is straight, don't know if it has a special name), unfortunately I could only find it in white, but it might also be availabe in black. For the thin variant, just regular thin yarn on a spool works nicely. Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I actually only have one set with official Lego rigging, so, in a bind, I just use white string. Given the scale, from the minifigs' POV, it's probably the same thickness as real rope, and it utilises the braided technique commonly used for almost all rope back then. Quote
lego fox Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I forgot to menshen that that smaller Black fishing line looks to me to resembel Qwite niscley the Lego cord in diamiter and weave. And the reson I'd prefer sinthetic hemp collerd cord other then the rot problem is so if I can find the R/C parts I need, I may not need to stress much about fraying from constent moveing through pullyes and holes in the deck and up and the tops. And with the ends of the cords fraying I just use a drope Lock Tite super glue ether on the ends of the cord or on both sids of the point that I'm Plnning to cut. Quote
