Posted April 1, 201311 yr I still haven't watched any episode of the new TMNT series but I really enjoyed the older show from 2003. As soon as I saw the first pictures of the Shredder's Dragon Bike set, I knew I'd try to create a LEGO 2003 Shredder using only existing LEGO parts... a purist Shredder (is that how you'd call it?). The problem is, my knowledge of LEGO parts is a bit dated. I basically need to find 3 pieces to match this design... The pieces are: - the torso - the head (maybe the black skeleton head from the Castle line, or possibly Lord Garmadon's head from Ninjago) - the pauldrons (the silver Ninjago pauldrons are probably the best choice here, but maybe you have other ideas...) (- If I find a good torso, finding legs won't be too difficult I guess, but suggestions are welcome) Pictures are always appreciated and feel free to share other TMNT creations. Thanks in advance to those who can help.
April 2, 201311 yr I only have one suggestion, which is the use of this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=88295 Good luck on recreating this guy.
April 2, 201311 yr Author Use the Megabloks one. Haha, I didn't even know they made TMNT stuff. I saw the pictures and... no thanks. I only have one suggestion, which is the use of this: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=88295 Good luck on recreating this guy. Thanks and that seems like a very good idea. I was thinking about getting some of the PoP sets anyway.
April 5, 201311 yr i guess garmadon's head would work pretty well for shredder (depending on how much would be visible depending on the helmet u want to use - guess tmnt shredder's) maybe you are ok with using http://www.brickset....s/?part=4580139 as a torso. e: http://www.brickset....s/?part=6043450 might also work - depending on the colorsheme ur going for u could also use rex's skirt http://www.brickset....nifigs/?m=sw194 as an additional armor piece not sure on what kind of legs to use ( dunno if plainblack will fit in quite right) Edited April 5, 201311 yr by Hoschiebaer

It's pretty much a perfect match. I'll probably buy a Garmadon next week, I guess I'll find out soon. Good call on the second torso, I noticed it too when I read Captain Nemo's review. :D I also thought a Galaxy Squad torso wouldn't look too bad... As for the legs, it will depend on which torso I'll choose, but I'll probably use something like this: Using Rex's skirt seems like a pretty good idea, I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

I still haven't seen him in action but I just thought he looked pretty meh on all the pics I've seen... especially compared to the 2003 version. Yeah me too, and even though I'm a 90's kid I must admit the 2003 Shredder is probably the coolest and most badass version of the character. not sure about the galaxy squad torso. i thought about that one too - at first. i think it might make the whole figure to bright. Yes, that's also what I fear but the problem is the helmet is already quite bright. If the rest of the body is too dark, I fear it might look odd. u can also try a blank-black legs with rex's armorpiece - didnt check for proper legs yet ^^ maybe some ninjago ones with a white belt would fit? guess u have to switch up the 2legparts to some black ones then. I think I'll just have to try a few legs. But Rex's kama (as I think it's called) might indeed be useful. I also considered using the Heroic Knight's legs (from series 9) but I'll definitely look at the Ninjago minifigs once again. btw the garmaddon head is available at pickabrick at shop@home at lego.com =) (though the pick-a-brick site isnt working for me right now) so u dont have to pick up the whole minifigure/search on bricklink. Oh it's ok, I actually quite like the figure and I might use the rest of the body for a custom Sith lord. I think I'll also try to make a custom Elite Ninja (I'll probably use Tony Stark's torso for this one). http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs44/i/2009/117/2/b/Foot_Elite_Ninja_by_Gatnne.jpg
April 10, 201311 yr I agree with the pauldrons mentioned above by Masta Blasta. As for the head, I'd go with this combo: This mask: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=47544 This head: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb251 You could also use the facemask specifically moulded for him: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=12617 I'd recommend using the PoP shoulders instead of the TMNT shoulders.
April 12, 201311 yr I have two parts suggestions Head http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb792 And I'd reccomend the Wolverine claws for this shredder http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10187

I'll definitely be using the new Shredder mask, it almost looks identical to the 2003 version. The Jawa head is a very good idea. A Lord Garmadon figure should arrive in the mail this week but if I don't like the way the head looks with the helmet on, I'll consider buying a jawa head on BL. I have two parts suggestions Head http://www.bricklink...sp?P=3626bpb792 And I'd reccomend the Wolverine claws for this shredder http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=10187 Funny, I recently considered using this head as well. I like the mean-looking red eyes. The only problem seems to be all the grey paint around them. Oh well, if it doesn't look right, I can use the head for a Sith minifig. Good call on the Wolverine claws. It will definitely look better than the ones included in the Dragon Bike set. Or you could build a bigger shredder ... Shredder by Si-MOCs, on Flickr That is AWESOME!

Well I looked at Shredders helmet and it appears that it will cover up most of the grey paint. But I'm not 100% sure
