Some sets I would never take apart like my fire temple, but some stuff I buy for parts so they

never get built any way. Occasionally, when I need parts for a fancy MOC ( like I do now!) I'll

pick it apart till there's nothing left!

For smaller sets, I usually display them for a few days, then disassmble them and integrate them into MOCing collection. Larger sets - UCS Falcon - get to be set up for display for a few months or a year and then carefully taken apart, put into ziplock bags and stored in original boxes.

A week or so

When I received my Unimog set and built it, I had it on display for about 4-5-6 days. But man how impatient I got, every day that passed having it still assembled was boring!

All I wanted to do right away was to disassemble it and start MOCing a tractor I was planning to make

... wait you can build the sets?

I just take out the good parts for mocs :look:

I Build the set ( if I buy it) to see which parts there are and then I take it apart and start building something myself.

only to fully dust them off. then its like new when i put it back together. very rare event though

Whats wrong with you guys? :) I never take my sets apart! Who should I? I buy them to collect them in its original, sealed box or build them to display on the shelf or in my CITYlayout. Normally I buy 2 copies of each set. I have a whole floor in my house for my collection so I`ve got plenty of space. For MOCing I buy PaB.

The ones that won't fit in my city have been taken apart and merged into other sets/made into new things. Some of my oldest sets from when I was a kid have stayed as they are and have never been taken apart, the Insectoids being one. I love those sets, the Sonic Stinger was my biggest set as a kid.

Never. I'm honestly not sure why. I don't display my sets, got no space for that. But It's probably because once it breaks apart, stuff just gets missing into the void, never to be seen or rebuilt again.

I only keep fantastic sets together, others will stay till I need parts for a MOC, and impulse sets break as soon as I need to store them.

I personally don't like to take apart sets because it would be ashame to spend lots of money on it and then take it apart however I occasionly take out Pieces from sets for mocs.
