HAHAHhaa... duh  everybody facepalm

It was funny in the beginning, but you people took it too far.... Lets forget this now and get back to Lego

Not against a" America month", but it should have some kind of Lego relation

Wait....this whole thing was a hoax. I may have to rally da boys in the militia about this

...At which time we've decided to turn the site into a Portal fanfiction repository. With free cake. Would I lie to you?

Yes you would. You monster.

Ahh! Good everythings back then! I'm right aren't I...

I knew straight away that this was an April fools joke, (hence the date of the post). In my opinion it was a very good one and I saw that most members knew it was but some jut didn't. Great job eurobricks staff and I look forward to next years :classic:

Shadows' first post has an extremely valid point - it's the tradition of this site being called Eurobricks, and its prominence in the online Lego community, There are probably a significant number of American members nowadays but I doubt most people could get used to Ameribricks on a permanent basis considering all the ridiculous things said in the other thread.

EDIT: Also didn't buy the 'major changes' at all; for one it happened on April Fool's/extended a bit after, and I'm sure the EB staff wouldn't have toyed around as much as they did, which is basically the entire joke.

I'm not mad at anyone, I just think it's hilarious that anyone who knows this site at all could have taken it seriously on the first of April with people directly posting that it was an obvious joke. The whole thing was so tongue in cheek that honestly, anyone who believed in it deserves a little good-natured kidding for it.

Really, I didn't believe it for a second, but when it stuck by the time it was the 3rd of April, it seemed that everyone, including myself, were mainly saying "ok jokes over, now change it back!"

And I think everybody saw the 'Murica stereotypes cming in the comments once they read it, I mean, if there was no stereotyping, it wouldn't even be fun.

It was really funny at first, but when I saw that some members didn't get the joke and became frustrated about it, the fun disappeared. I don't care what the reason is, but willingly frustrating others isn't neat.

@ Shadows: You might even lose members for the sake of this 'joke' as it obviously lasted too long.

As for me calling South America "Texas", I of course know where South America really is. The term "American" to describe citizens of the United States annoys me as well, but there's unfortunately not much that can be done about it. When I was traveling abroad to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, and people would ask where I was from, I would say "The States" and they would say "huh?" and I would say "America" and they would say "Oh, wow. America. Cool." So, if you can't beat 'em... :sceptic:

Oh, and great job on the banner Hinckley! It reminds me of why I love

...

Thank you! I'm a little disappointed that nobody noticed the torch was in the wrong hand. And I liked my poster better than the banner:

I buy the americabricks.com domain name immediately. You'll not got me twice :D

Seriously, don't do such jokes, I almost had a heart attack lol

well it was a pretty nice joke! I never saw the site as a "European" thing, though. To me, Eurobricks is about a worldwide community of Afols, there's no real nationality attached to it. And it's also a household name in the Lego world: it stands for "good old fashioned fun where people enjoy Lego as a hobby"

'Twas fun seeing people getting very worked up about it and just shouting "'MUHRIKA!" all the time on the thread. I look forward to next year!

CopMike: Heehaw again! Sad to say I live in a country where the Ford F150 pickup has outsold autos in many years. Now I understand why! (And it explains why the US average family size is about 2 people now...or so. That is all that fit... considering our size... in a Ford F150.)

That's the problem with Americans, they buy crap like Ford. No flames, it's a joke! Found On Road Dead is just a good a brand as any.

All: We finally broke down and bought two Toyota Prii/Priuses because we are tired of supporting the oil companies both domestic and foreign. So when are we gonna get a Lego Prius model? That's what I wanna know...

The plural of Prius is actually officially Prius. I would know. I have two. Also that's what Toyota told us on the Facebook.

DD, Thanks! Not sure what the plural of Prius is, but you answered the question! Have you heard about anyone doing a Prius model? Thanks!

I have not heard anything, but I'm sure there's mocs out there if you look hard enough. They gave us the silly Smart For Two model, so why not give us a Prius. Oh well, that's the great thing about LEGO: if we want something that doesn't exist we can just spend time to figure out how and build it ourselves.

It was a brilliant joke, and quite obvious, but the true fun was watching people get upset over something so insignificant. :sceptic: tsk tsk...

I hope next years, is even better!

It's over? Can we at least have an "Americanisze your Avatar" contest? I was all ready to get started on mine today.
