rexcal Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 So, after I've been reading some threads in this nice forum for a few weeks now, I decided it's time for me to become a member and start my own account here. I'm from Germany, 28 years old and a LEGO-fan since my childhood. i never really paused being interested in LEGO and kept on buying a set from time to time since then. But I wasn't always satisfied with the sets and themes the LEGO Company published, in my opinion they moved too far from the idea having most of the stuff built from the original bricks. Also, I feel that in some aspects the quality of LEGO material is not as good anymore as it used to be... My favorite themes are City, Pirates (wow, I remember how excited I was when TLC started the new Pirate-Theme and added new expressions to the minifig's faces!), Western, Castle and old-school Space. But I also like some of the new stuff, so after being sceptical at first, I now DO enjoy some of the licensed series. There are a few Star Wars and Spongebob sets and one Batman set I like (It's the "Arkham Asylum"). I don't build MOCs very often, i'm more a collector of original sets, but I'm a bit picky concerning these. The MOCs I liked most were Transformers-inspired vehicles that could be transformed to robots or monsters. I built some of them (including a few clever ones) and that was really fun back then. ;-) So, I hope to have a good time with you nice people here! :-$ I chose this forum, because it seems to be a friendly, active and varied one. See ya around, rexcal
CopMike Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Welcome rexcal - good choice of forum ;-)! Nice to have one more member that has a real connection with the old LEGO-sets. I myself had a way to long Dark Age :-/. I also like the Arkham Asylum best amoung the Batman-sets, even though I had to MOC it to get platehinges top/bottom on the celldoors. Looking forward seeing some of your Transformers *sweet*! Enjoy / copmike
rexcal Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 Welcome rexcal - good choice of forum ;-)!Nice to have one more member that has a real connection with the old LEGO-sets. I myself had a way to long Dark Age :-/. Sorry, but I've forgotten in which way AFOLs use the term "dark age"... I've read that term quite a few times, but just don't remember it's meaning... Can you help me? :-/
Hobbes Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Welcome to EB, rexcal! Indeed you made a good choice by joining this forum ;-) "Dark Ages" is simply a term used for the period of time a person isn't interested in LEGO at all (anymore). Hope that helped. Enjoy your time here :-)

rexcal Posted February 11, 2007 Author Posted February 11, 2007 Hey and welcome! Just a small grammatical correction:"My faviourite theme is Castle..." ;-) X-D Nathan, I took a look at your huge MOCs - and they blew me away, honestly. Absolutely awesome! I have respect for all kinds of MOCs, but I personally prefer MOCs which are not just smaller versions of buildings, vehicles or whatever existing in the real world. I like completely made up environments or creatures best. Some of your MOCs are along the most beautiful I've ever seen, especially "the caves". *sweet* And I'm not trying to butter you up, haha. Your "waterfall" is pretty dusty, by the way... ;-)
Sir Dillon Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Welcome Rexcal! I'm sure you'll make a good edition to EB. It's great to have new mature members. :-)
