sam89 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I thought I would point out that if you click on the image you get a larger version. Here's a few of my thoughts: - The Viking ship is a lot wider than I thought it was going to be. Hopefully, since it doesn't seem to have too many pieces it won't be that expensive. - I don't like that creature that comes with the small boat set - The shields (the ones they're holding, not the ones on the ship) are stickers :( - I like the missile launcher thing. I wonder how it works? - The captains area of the Durmstrang ship seems to be removeable and have an interior - The merpeople look cool :-D - There's SO much stuff included in the Graveyard Duel! The Middleman Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I see five minifigs on the Viking longboat. I hope we get more than that. :/ Agreed, that little bird thing is dumb. Sam, are you sure they're stickers? As for the catapult, you pull back a piece, and it releases and fires. For the big one, at least. Check out the KK2 stuff. Apparently this is the 'things that fly fast and hurt' year for LEGO. Quote
sam89 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Concerning the minifig count of the Longboat, if you look at the top of the box in this pic you can see EIGHT figures. Hopefully they'll all be included in the set. Quote
The Middleman Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I'm not that great at counting figs, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks sam! Too bad they didn't do Construction closeups. Oh well, I'll get some pics for you guys when mine arrive. :) Quote
David85 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I love the Viking ships, but I hate the other sets. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 They're not stickers. They're plastic. Or do you mean, that have stickers on them? CONFUSED? *wacko* Quote
sam89 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I mean they have stickers on them. I was hoping they were printed. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Cheaper for Lego, possibly could add to the price of the set if they were printed. I loved some of those heads. I'm so happy! I also love the large boat, great for turning them into SPACE VIKINGS!!!!!!!! Quote
The Middleman Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Are we SURE the shields are sticker'd? Quote
sam89 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 If you look at the bigger version of the pic they look like the pattern part is sticking out slightly from the black part of the piece. These are the same pices used for the black circular parts on the outside of the new Millennium Falcon, and they has stickers on them. They're not DEFINITELY stickers, but I think they most likely will be. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Are we SURE the shields are sticker'd? SCREW THAT! Second Viking along is my new best friend. Just add Dracula hair for Wolverine! Quote
jedijeff Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 all I can say is :oD :oD :oD :oD :oD :oD :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D Quote
Cutty Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 my liking for the viking line went nosedive when i saw those pictures! sanctified feces! those vikings are utterly misportrayed as axe wielding barbarians! look at those maniacal face expressions...i am struck with disgust people. besides that: although i first thought the sets were improving with every new prototype pic emerging, i know think they rather went downhill. frankly i admit that i know officially HATE the longship set! and it initially was the one that first fired my interest for the whole line. those HP sets don't do it for me, and KK2 is only "acceptable" as is. well at least there is the glorious city line i can focus on (seems to be time for building some nice houses to found a legocity of my own...) greetings, cutty Quote
Assassin Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I have to agree, each time Lego "improves" the Viking models, they get more and more dissapointing. We went from looking at a Nordic style castle, to something a bunch of marooned space nerds have built. Fair enough, Lego are attempting to build in playability (yeah, I know, it's for kids), but honestly, putting those stupid WW2 style gun-shield aming things next to the wall catapults is pushing it a bit far. And as for that pile of crap on the top of the (I assume) prison building ! ! ! ! What the hell is it meant to be ? It's obviously some kind of catapult device, but it doesn't even look like one. Hopefully, that ugly pile of space junk will disappear before the next pictures. If it is still there when the set is released, then in my opinion, Lego have ruined what promised to be a good design. Why can't they go with the instincts of the preliminary designer and quit trying to improve (ruin) a good idea. Quote
sam89 Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 We've had confirmation that the shields are stickers, but the radar shileds are not. The hull of the boat is made from 5 pieces. Quote

You know until I have them in my hands, I don't wanna pass judgement to much. BUT I don't like the flying thing with the smaller boat. What happened to the Kraken? AND when will we first get Vikings? In August or with the Japanese sweets? Quote
Orlego Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 The new sets are really looking good. Harry Potter: I was a little disappointed with Durmstrang Ship but I will have to see it in person to make my final decision. The cart looks great and the dragon looks much better than expected. I'm very happy about the graveyard set. This set is also going to be great for parts. The skeleton figs, bats, etc... Vikings: Horns or no horns, I love these sets. The new armor and helmets are totally cool. I love the hand forged iron look. The new Viking fort reminds me of Fort Legorado Creator: Finally my house has arrived in the US. The creator sets just keep getting better. I love the Lion. It is much bigger that I thought. City: I really love most of the new city sets but the dump truck is just too damn big. I know we have to use it in a mine, but it just looks crazy in a layout. Quote
snefroe Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 high folks! thought I'd add my comments on these vikings aswell. at first i was very excited about this theme. a danish company producing vikings! that seems the right thing to do! but now that i've seen these sets.... hm... suppose I were a viking ... for a split second... where can I repair my ship if it's damaged after having been in a fight with the monsters of the deep? there's no repair shop and I also can't find any shipping warf! where is my large town hall where i can drink to the gods, together with my brave warriors?! where are the gods?! you don't expect me to live without Odin and Thor, do you? where's that church i can plunder and those peasants i can assault? hm... and yes... you can clearly see the stickers if you enlarge the eighth picture (out of 21) on the german site. i like the longboat, however it's not really a "long" boat, is it? it's more like a "wide" boat. so if you wanna have a good longboat, you'll need to enlarge the midsection. oh yes... dump that prison too, 'cause, it seems to me that these vikings are not going to take prisonners. ... and in case you're wondering... "snefroe" is the name of my cat.... Quote
Orlego Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 These are much of the same questions us City & Train fans have been asking for years. Where is our post office? How about apartments & houses? Where did our water towers and factories go? Why are there so many fire and policemen in our town? Who are these Alfa Team folk? :P ;) ;) Quote
Vader Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Its a strange lego city that dosent have any houses, but hey look at it this way at least theres plenty of police :-D Quote
Orlego Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Its a strange lego city that dosent have any houses, but hey look at it this way at least theres plenty of police :-D It looks like the Lego Construction Company only like to build police & fire stations and the occasional train station, however, the Orlego Construction company loves to build everything except police & fire stations. :P ;) Quote

ApophisV Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Welcome here snefroe! After you mentioned it I am really sad about the fact that there aren't any village things... :'( I would really like to see some viking village like the one from the old pc game "Rune"... Or some huts like the ones from Black & White.... Quote
DoubleT Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Well if the Vikings are a succes, then they will make more... Probaly.... Quote
