Posted April 9, 201311 yr I apologize if there was already a thread for this, but I didn't see one. Anyway, I posted my 10th and 11th Doctor customs over in the Purist Superhero thread, but it didn't really feel right since Doctor Who isn't really a superhero property. I'm happy with my 10, though the hair isn't really David Tennant-y enough. I need to track down the spiky hairpiece from the Sleepyhead figure from a few Collectible Minifigure series back (though aftermarket prices on just the hair put it in the $5-7 range, which I think is a lot for Lego hair!). Not really satisfied with the 11 hair, either, but Matt Smith's own hair kind of defies explanation, so I'm not sure what to do about that yet. These work as placeholders, though. Here's my 7 year old son's attempt at making two of his favorite TV personalities, Jamie and Adam from Mythbusters: Considering these were made entirely from pieces in the Create A Minifigure bins at the Lego Store, I think he did a pretty awesome job (Adam is a particularly good likeness; Jamie was harder to nail down... maybe a Professor Flitwick head?). He says the cop is the guy who's there to make sure they don't blow themselves up. Edited April 9, 201311 yr by LibraryBoy
April 9, 201311 yr Holy cow! Both Adam and Jamie are fantastic for building from the bin. I don't think you could pick a better head for Adam from Bricklink. Sadly, I am not familiar with Dr. Who. I've been told I would love it but I just don't really do TV.
April 10, 201311 yr I'm more familiar with Doctor Who, so I'll pick up St0ngbad's slack. For my Tenth Doctor, (Which I really should post here.) I used this head. It may or may not be more accurate, but I like it better. Your suit is much better though, as I only have this. Also, will you be trying a trenchcoat? I've done some prototypes, but they are all trashy. Any idea on where to get a design template and/or an affordable, but sweet looking pre-made one? Eleven's hair is quite a problem, and that's what I am using, but there's not anything else that's both close and cheap. Really, That doctor is just a mess all the way around. I picked this head, but not really for any good reason. There's nothing wrong with yours, but I don't like the "Hair over eyebrows" look. This torso is great for his first outfit, but yours is nice for his newest outfit. (Granted, the shirt should be darker, but you can only get so close. ) If you're going for his newer look, that's a nice combo. It's just not his most recognizable outfit. Oh, and sorry for all the Brickipedia links, but Bricklink is really slow right now and I don't have the patience to wait on the pages to load. And if I were to post all of my Doctor Customs, would it be better to post them here, or in a separate topic? I'm thinking that they'd get more attention in a topic of their own, and seeing as it's a group of eleven figures, it's not like I'm just posting a whole new topic for just one. Thanks, SteampunkDoc

I don't know about a good template but MMCB's stuff is top notch. The site has been closed for a few months now but I don't think it's supposed to be permanent. April 10, 201311 yr I think I might like this thread as much as the purist superhero one. Time for me to look through my parts and see what I can come up with. By the way, have you tried the CMF 3 pilot head for Jamie? I think that one may work slightly better than the samurai IMO. Edited April 10, 201311 yr by Amset-Rah
April 10, 201311 yr Tim Allen/Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor from Home Improvement Gordon Ramsay of Kitchen Nightmares/Hell's Kitchen/MasterChef Danielle/Tradechat/Panser from The Tester 2/King of Nerds James Rolfe/The Angry Video Game Nerd from Cinemassacre -Omi
April 10, 201311 yr Gordon Ramsay! Looks spot on Omi. Tim Taylor looks good to, but I am unfamiliar with the other ones.
April 10, 201311 yr This is a great thread! Figured I'd take advantage of the "movie" part and post my Olympus Has Fallen figs. Olympus Has Fallen/Updates by Hobbes the Majestic, on Flickr That's Kang (Rick Yune), Banning (Gerard Butler), and President Asher (Aaron Eckhart (from the opening sequence)).
April 10, 201311 yr but I am unfamiliar with the other ones. Just a slice of the nerd culture I follow. :P -Omi
April 11, 201311 yr Just a slice of the nerd culture I follow. :P -Omi Spidey don't judge Edit: Googled them both and they both look really close! Especially Danielle! Edited April 11, 201311 yr by Spider-Man
April 11, 201311 yr "Snipped picture" Tim Allen/Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor from Home Improvement -Omi Oh, wow, that's a cool torso, what's it from? I don't remember it from any sets, and that's unusual for me. I think I watched a few episodes of that many years back, but can't remember much. So it was the figure's design alone that struck me. The hair's custom, Brickforge perhaps? And the belt, is it from the same place? It's a cool figure, and you did a great job!
April 12, 201311 yr @LibraryBoy - LOVE the Mythbusters! I made History Channel's American Pickers a while back because my wife is addicted to the show. Mike and Frank surrounded by rusty gold... The guys and Danielle... After making them, I had the odd idea of sending them to visit Watto's junk shop on Tatooine and did a comic strip (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/305216).

April 16, 201311 yr Alright, time to throw my hat in the ring with these three unrelated TV icons: First up, Mike Nelson from MST3K. Next up, my attempt at the 4th Doctor (Minus his scarf) And lastly, the host of the popular 80s game show Press Your Luck, Peter Tomarken. I know, not 100%, but close enough, right?

These are all fun. The 4th Doctor is particular great... I recognize the CMF Sherlock/Detective head, but is that a Bilbo torso? And Peter Tomarken... that's inspired. I can't not see it, now! I can't not see it, now! "Big bucks, no whammies, no whammies... aaaaaaaand... STOP!!!" "Stop on a trip to PUERTO VALLARTA!" Yes, the 4th Doctor's torso is the Bilbo from Riddles for the Ring. I love it, and it was perfect for the Doctor. As for Tomarken, it's the hairpiece and suit that does it. I'm not sure if I could make a Whammy minifig without some creative piece usage (Those devil heads from the monster game would work nicely here) Part of me wants to make more game show hosts (Like Bert "I always give away the answers" Convy of Super Password or Richard Dawson)
April 17, 201311 yr Here's a few purist figures I did year back. Tommy Gavin from Rescue Me Snake Plissken from Escape from New York. The Strike Team from The Shield Marty McFly from Back to the Future Sawyer from Lost And while this isn't TV or Movies. Andre 3000 from Outkast Tom Waits Girls Aloud
April 17, 201311 yr I'm not too familiar with a lot of those guys, but Andre 3000 looks very nice. Another group from me: A brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal, better known as The Breakfast Club
April 25, 201311 yr Ironbar from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (sorry for crappy pic, this was from before I cared) I've got a ton more, after I compile em all I'll do a mega post.
May 6, 201311 yr Ok here's most of mine Flava Flav David of "Prometheus" Bennet of "Commando" Arliss Lovelace of "Wild Wild West" ED-209 and Dick Jones of "Robocop" The guy whose head blows up in "Scanners" John McClane in "Die Hard" Lt. Dan of "Forest Gump" Anton of "No Country for Old Men"
May 6, 201311 yr Author Those are awesome, autorazr. The ED-209 and Lt. Dan are great, but my favorite is the Scanners guy since that made me legitimately laugh out loud.
