Vader Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 yes. all boxes have glue. have you tried taking any of the boxes apart? not opening them but actually taking them apart. Yeah its not an easy task thats for sure, so anyone trying to open one of these up without being seen in a shop will have a problem. Oh and let me just add i dont in any way condone the theft of lego pieces from shops, or theft in general. Had to get that in before im hung X-D Quote
rexcal Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 don't you just love these Lego marketeers? :-| first, they refuse to give us female minifigs, then they refuse to give us non-profitable City sets and now they're turning Lego into lottery... I don't get that part about the City-sets, please explain... I really hope not too many Star wars boxes will get damaged or torn because of greedy collectors (like us, haha). And, no, it's not LEGO's fault if people can't behave at all... Think of Ferrero surprise eggs - even there you sometimes found a whole display with hundreds of damaged eggs, because some idiots pressed them to find the right figurines. And compared to LEGO they're really cheap... But weighing the Star Wars sets shouldn't be too annoying, in my opinion. If some staff is wondering, you still can say" Hey, I'm one of the good ones, at least I'm not ripping the boxes open!" :-D By the way: Where did you find information in which sets C3PO won't be included for sure? I really don't think weighing the boxes is going to work. A regular c3p0 (which includes the 10,000 chrome gold mf) is almost similar in weight to the glue they used to seal the boxes. The assembly lines for packaging do not use a high tolerance, hence there isn't a set amount of glue used for each box. The next time you stop at the local TRU check the boxes. You will find a lot of imperfections with regards to how the boxes are sealed up. It's even worse for the bigger boxes ($89, $99+). The top side (the side opposite of the tape seals) is usually the worst. the contest was revealed in the ny toyfair and was mentioned was for the 30th anniversary sets. people naturally deduced that the winter 06 sw sets will not be included in the competition as they were released prior to the contest. OOM-9 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I would just like to say that this is an interesting move by TLC. It will most likely increase sales as well as damaged boxes in stores. I must assume howevver that: -This will be available to online buyers as well for two reasons. 1)A lot of TLC's sales must come from online and they would not want to alienate them. 2)The sets are most likely stored in some kind of warehouse until shipped out to stores or taken and mailed to an online buyer. The sets would have gotten their 3POs long before then so it is probably going to be fair to everyone. -This offer is not available to 7664 or 7665 as stated by the poster. (What is 7665 anyways?) -Also stated by the poster, the new 2007 sets, this means the January sets won't be included. -You can also gather that because there is no translation to any other language on the poster, as there normally is, that Europe may be getting the short end of the stick. (Although I'm most likely wrong.) -Finally, the 3PO give-away is only for sets 7660-7663, and the UCS MF (I called and asked), so the chances aren't really that bad to get one in a set this summer. Scouty Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Four-five sets to get the droid we are looking for. Fun! That'd be funny if the box said "This one has a 3PO in it!" Everyone will go for it. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Did it start yet? -ZotS Quote
Scouty Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Not that I know of. It probably wont until the summer sets come out. Quote

I'm bad with set numbers :-$ Is it safe to assume those are: MTT JSF w. HD ring N1 fighter? Quote
oo7 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 7660 = Naboo Fighter + Vulture 7661 = Obi/Kit fighter + Ring 7662 = MTT 7663 = Sith Infiltrator 7664 = TIE Crawler 7665 ? Hoth *wub* Quote

Hoth *wub* Thanks 007. The SI? That piece o-er, I mean even better parts pack now? Meh, at least I won't feel as bad for buying it now :-P Quote
oo7 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 You are most certainly welcome, Mr. 4j. ;-) The new SI is pretty sucky but I think I've decided it's better that original. That thing was really sucky, at least the new one isn't half blue. :-| Wow, all the 2007 sets are excellent except for this one, which sucks. Not complaining, but it's just kind of queer. Quote
Scouty Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 So, for a recap. These: Are going to be made into an army of 10,000 plastic toys For sets 7660-7665 but not 7654 and 7655(Which ones are those sets? Again? And this is going to become an army of 5 Solid, 14 Karot, Gold C-3POs. I wonder if the joints move? (I find it odd that they imbedded the detail in the solid gold 3PO.) Quote

natelite Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 14k gold actually means gold plated. 18k gold is the lowest acceptable "pure" gold standard (ie 95% gold and 5% impurities or something like that). 24k equals 100% (ie pure as going through hell's fire). doubt anyone will be playing much with their 14k gold c3p0. you can see clearly how scratched the display model is. :-D they should just place it in a display case. Quote
Norro Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Well I think it is time to look on the bright side.... by my reckoning there are approximately 10000 more of these available in the new sets than old grey pieces. Now who is colour crazy?!! X-D X-D X-D God Bless, Nathan (Who sees a lot of lego staff getting these...) Quote
Scouty Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Interesting... "'These are the Droids You're Looking For' Promotion The hunt is on as LEGO Star Wars fans search for never-before-produced, special-edition metallic gold C-3PO minifigures. For a limited time, 10,000 gold droids will be randomly inserted into select 2007 LEGO Star Wars sets. Collectors who find the gold C-3PO will be entered to win a special prize pack. The LEGO Star Wars sets containing the golden C-3POs will begin appearing on shelves in early June." "Special prize pack"? Quote

If you have to win a golden C-3PO just to be eligible to get the real MacCoy then that just sucks. I want an equal shot at that guy. Knowing my luck, I'll never so much as see a golden C-3PO in the first place. Stupid collector promotion! Quote
Scouty Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 The problems I see is that 1. "prize pack" That at first rules out the C-3PO 14K figure. It isn't a pack, it's one object. 2. THey would have said "a chance to get the golden C-3PO" If it's not the golden C-3PO, then what is it? Quote
oo7 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The people who already won get a chance to win again? That's weird. The 'prize packs' definitely aren't the 14k C3's, TLG has said that they are won through an online contest. Quote
Scouty Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 So, what are they then? A set of...sets? Quote
oo7 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 No clue. I don't even now how one proves they own a C-3 in order to enter for the packs. 8-| Quote
Scouty Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Maybe a little card that comes with it...or a letter you have to send to TLC? Quote
oo7 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Hmmm...... The first would be more likely, but they said they 'will be randomly inserted into select 2007 LEGO Star Wars sets'. If they are going to put a card or something in the box, I think they would have said so. Quote
Scouty Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I think it could be the figure, and the card in one bag. The card could have a code on it which you enter online and that would submit you into the random drawing. Quote
