Like I previously said, we are screwed BIG time like always !! G is that getting a habit ??

Anyhow, I think the split of those Goldies will be unfair !! I think that the biggest the store is, the more power it has with TLC, therefore the more % of Goldies it will have ;-)

Lets just take Paris for instance: TLC France "operates" 3 toys stores in Paris BUT never have any exclusive sets !! (too weak compared to the HUGE TRU power) ! All the other chains have nearly no Lego and its always wa

What makes it worse for me is that my bloody TRU dosent even have any sw sets in it, and from the looks of things wont be getting any sw sets again >:-( >:-( >:-( >:-(

God i hope we dont get another shitty 'Hunt For..' in the future, its pointless for most of us.

Based on the figures im seeing here i guess it would be cheaper to buy from BL but man thats gonna hurt big time!! :-(

Though i doubt many people will do that as people like the hunt.

Hmmm just a thought but i wonder how many misb sets will show up from this time period in the future on ebay? I mean sure their will be some bought by people who dont like SW but the amount will surely be down as SW fans wont be able to resist.

Of course the other side of this is that these opened sets should sell cheaper because we know they wont contain the c-3p0.

Might be true mate !! But lets not forget how lousy TLC is with production, shipment and every aspect of the distribution and what have you !!

I am still convinced that the 10.000 Goldies will be the first sets into production in june/july !! Therefore, if when the new sets hit the store you don't grab what you nedd the first days you are screwed !! Look what happened in January at TRU: they received all the sets but in a matter of days, the whole '07 line up was wiped clean |-/

That bloody hunt is so pissing me off |-/

I have just had C-3PO on the kitchen scale.

3 gram

Let's say the new one is just a little more heavy - 4 gram.

It is not going to be easy to spot in the store even if you bring your kitchen scale :-P

Posted

That scale might be problematic indeed !! I can see myself walking into TRU and weighting every set :-D

Another thought on how to spot our Goldie : shaking and rattling the box !! Just an idea: if that C3PO is in a Polybag (which would make sense), the reattling may have a different sound ?

Hunt ON !!

it should be similar in weight as it's only chrome painted. the c3p0 is probably transparent underneath. like i have been saying...the difference in the amount of glue used to seal the boxes probably exceeds that 3g.

I totally disagree :-P The weight difference is due to the added MF !! Its a regular set + 1 MF !! So add like 4 grams to a regular set and you should find him :-D

Weight On !!

ImperialJohn -

How did 11.700 become 100.000 *wacko*

Well:

The 29th of January 2005 Toys R Us operated 1282 toystores worldwide. Walmart has about 6500 stores, K-Mart 2400 & Target about 1500 stores.

That alone is about 11700 stores ! Add all other toystores worldwide, LEGO S&H and LEGO stores in LEGO-Land. I

{Snip} each store 0.1 set with C-3PO in :'-(!

{Snip some more}

So your saying no stores are going to get this set, thus this is all a big joke :-P X-D . If I, by bazar chance, if I even get one, get two 3POs, I'd sell one to any EBer here.

That could easy mean the end of this board - With all the members fighting to get it :-D

No serious - This little golden robot is BIG trouble.

I think LEGO will sell out before they even know what hit them. But perhaps this was the plan ?!?

Worst would be vandalism in the stores :-X Figure a whole store with opened boxes :'-(

Don't be silly! Lego obviously places a gaurd with a weapon to each box containing the little bugger :-P . In the store, of course. :-P . I hope vandalism wont be a factor here. I hate when scum and villainy take over these "supposed to be fun!" contestts. They're supposed to be fun! It's a toy for goodness sakes!

Well obviously the hunt has already started on the EB boards before the products got to the store. X-D

As far as your chances are concerned in attaining a C-3PO, you may have better luck getting hit by a car or getting a Girlfriend/Boyfriend. :-P

On a more serious note, all this talk about weighing the individual sets is great and I have a few tips for those that are brave enough to venture into the store with a small scale. First thing you need to have is a cell phone, why you ask, so you can talk to a friend or at least pretend to while you are doing this. The reason being is most employees do not bother you while you are on the phone, plus you can say that you are figuring out shipping charges to ship said boxes and deciding on which you want to buy. Paper and a pen, and finally a lot of chutspa.

Rule of thumb, I suggest not going into the same store twice within the same week.

Of course opening them up is another way >:-) , which is not the ideal way to go, unless you want to meet your new roommate, Bubba Gump. :-/

Buying, opening, and returning a set or two is not a bad idea either, unless you are limited to the amount of stores you can go to or the employees get suspicous of you. I have returned a few opened sets without any problems.

Oh and for those that need cheap LEGO sets, sometimes TRU has opened or mangled boxes on clearance, although these are usaually buy at your own risk, as in you may not be able to return it once you buy it.

I should know, back when I was still at school in 2000, I found an opened box of the Tie Interceptor UCS model for $20-$30 U.S. and it was only missing one piece, which I recently attained(amongst others LEGO bricks) from a friend who happened upon it while dumpster diving for keys he mistakingly threw into a neighboring trash can. Anyone I guess X-Ray vision/glasses would work too! ;-)

That.... thing....? 8-|

Well.... Think bigger. X-D

I recommend faked uniforms with some "LEGO Quality Control" logo.

I just thought about an idea.

Disguise yourself as the bombsquad - Bring a shopping waggon disguised as bombtransporter!

Then clear out the intire sektion of SW and claim they could contain bombs :-D
