Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls

Harriet Slutter is off for her first year at PigBlister’s School of Sorcery and Magicky-doings. But, the PigBlister Express has left her in Cockturn Alley and Lord Moldyshorts and his gang of Odor Eaters has other plans for her. Can he stop her from getting to school and get his hands on the Philosopher’s Balls for his diabolical scheme to take over the World? Or will Harriet spoil his plans and make it to school on time?

Only you can answer that by signing up for Harriet Slutter Mafia - Book One: Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls.

Join an advanced game with a basic setup, yet with a unique concept for how the game itself will be approached. Tired of hero worship and meta-gaming? Take part in a concept that attempts to circumvent this pesky Mafia byproduct. In the magic world of Cockturn Alley, you can expect to find a couple of twists, but nothing that a Mafia School graduate can’t handle. Vets and Mafia School graduates are encouraged to sign up. (Current Aperture students can apply, but final decision will be left to the Aperture hosts) No cults, no fake conversions, no resurrections, no vengeful spirits  ...there may be a neutral or two. :snicker: You might see some Hinckely favorites like lovers or the inventor. There may be some never before seen roles as well. Who knows? :look:

Structure-wise, Town Night Actions will not be passed on, but the Scum will be able to choose which Action they would like to keep when they lose a member. If the game is brought down to one remaining Scum player, that player will be given a kill and a block Action to be able to use both nightly. I am considering not allowing players to post PMs from other players. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on that.

Also, for the first time, I'm engaging in the fhomess rule: all pictures will be hosted on EB so you won't be blocked at work. :snicker:

So, if you'd like to play, please respond to this post with the following information:

  1. Your past Mafia experience
  2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days
  3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?
  4. Your favorite Mafia moment
  5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful
  6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor.

Thanks for checking this out and I hope we have a great game. Currently, I have 26 slots and I can make it more or less depending on how many people sign up. There are two other games currently in progress, but my plan is to leave this signup thread up for about a week. I need to finish the game before Brickworld in June, so we have to start now.

What the hell?

  1. Plenty.
  2. Good.
  3. Yep.
  4. When Draggy killed everyone in the Forest II. Morbid, I know. :look:
  5. Sitting back and drinking martinis when the night action block wins the game! Alternatively, spending their vote as wisely as possible and being even more proactive to keep PRs safe to operate behind the scenes. And if they're really generous, sacrificing themselves so that the other masons may live... :innocent:
  6. I'll be as tolerant as I can through whatever deranged schemes and insane scenarios you come up with. :sweet:

  1. Your past Mafia experience - Eurodina, Bloodbrick I, Forest I, Werewolf, EB II
  2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days - Shouldn't be an issue, I have a smartphone, so there's no excuse, really.
  3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines? - Is the pope Catholic? Does a bear shit in the woods?
  4. Your favorite Mafia moment - It has to be when I blocked a scum in Bloodbrick I and got lynched for it, losing the game for the town, wait... maybe it was when I was scum and we were about to win in Eurodina, but Corny changed alignment from scum to neutral and outed the entire team to the townies... wait, I didn't like that one either. How about when Zepher outed himself as scum on Day 1 of Werewolf. That was classic.
  5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful. - Vanillas can certainly accuse other players and gauge reactions, they are perfectly capable of analyzing voting patterns, they can take sporadic information to piece together who is scum. There's no reason a Vanilla can't be town leader.
  6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor. No meta-gaming!? What a rip! I suppose I can agree to whatever system you've got concocted. :hmpf:

In oher words, Hells yes, I'd love to play.

Me me me!

1. Your past Mafia experience

Currently attending Aperture Academy Mafia School, but would need a  from Shadows/Darkdragon in order to be counted as a "past Mafia experience"!

2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days

My current mafia school stands at Day 8, *looks at myself* I am good.

3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?

Sure

4. Your favorite Mafia moment

I am a geek at Mafia school!

5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful

Vanilla Townies make the Day threads much more interesting. The real Vanilla Townies are the Town's first line of defence and can be the Town greatest asset. They can also be useful for the OTHERS to fake claim so they won't have to risk being caught out lying.

6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor.

This is going to be an eye opener! Let me in! Please please please!

2. Hell, I can't focus on something for 5 minutes, nevermind for 32 days!

3. Yep.

4. Either Day 5 of Belville or the entirety of Jedi Temple.

5. Vanilla townies are arguably the most important players in the game. Without them, who would I mislynch??

6. I feel like I'm signing some sort of waiver before going in to see a quack doctor. :look:

Me would love to play!!!

1. Your past Mafia experience

Well I have the Aperture Academy but need a thumbs up by Shadows and DarkDragon

2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 day

Well I am own every single day at every single hour and every single minute. My eyes are glued to the screen of Eurobricks.

3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?

Duh, of course I can...

4. Your favorite Mafia moment

When the Draggy man killed everyone in the Forest II. Yeah, that was epic...

5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful

First of all, they are good and sweet and awesome and they are the best ice-scream flavor of all!!!

6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor.

I, Brickington, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully do this crazy game by Hinkley, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend my and your awesomeness. F*ck Yeah!

Posted

Oh? Is there a member named Hinkley who is hosting a game?

Yeah, he's a first time host. The theme looks good, but I'm not so sure about his hosting abilities quite yet. :sceptic:

Posted

1. Maybe you remember me from games such as EB Mafia II, Heartlake Heartbreak, the Forest II or Imhotep.

2. What was this question again? Oh yeah, focus. I'm focused, totally focused. Always in focus.

3. I never sleep more than 19 hours a day, so should be fine

4. The video with Maurice Mouse as the poor little mouse (aka me) was fighting for his life in The Forest II :cry_happy:

5. There is no ice cream without vanilla. There is always vanilla. Making way for the other flavors. Vanilla balances it all out. Vanilla fights so that chocolate and strawberry and all those other flavors can be the heros. But vanilla is the real hero!

6. This contract is too long to read. Where do I sign? Ah, here we go. *scribble*

Posted

1. Currently in detention at Aperture Academy. I might need a note from Darkdragon or Shadows.

2. Nothing planned for the next month, so I should be good.

3. Yes.

4. Shadows' Trouble in the Streets of Gotham - I wasn't a participant, but I had a ball watching the bloodbath from the sidelines.

5. Expendables.

6. You have my word.

Oh? Is there a member named Hinkley who is hosting a game?

Why do I keep getting your darn lovely name wrong?!? Hinckley, Hinckley, Hinckley... Won't happen again my good sir!

You know, I think I'm in the mood for another Mafia game. :sweet:

1. Police Infiltration, Heartlake, and EB Mafia I.

2. I have no plans or distractions from this game over the next 32 days.

3. Yes.

4. Hmm, I think it might have been the end of Police Infiltration when my scum team won. It was the first (and so far only) win for me and being the sole survivor all in my first game was really awesome for me.

5. Well, they make up the majority of the Town so the lynch is usually very reliant on them. Also, I know that Vanilla Townies need to work very hard to prove that they're with the Town and that they're useful, and I learned that the hard way in EB Mafia I.

6. I promise I'll try my best to be active and have fun in this great looking game! :classic:

Your past Mafia experience

I'm playing in Aperture Academy. Shadows and Darkdragon need to give me a  before I can play with the big boys and girls.

Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days

Busy at school, same as ever. Yes.

Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?

Yes.

Your favorite Mafia moment

When everyone ignored Rufus in The Forest II and let Shadows get away with being obvious scum. Also all of Witch Hunt Mafia.

Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful

They provide a numbers advantage, can cover for power roles by being messengers and can put unbiased logic to work.

(6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor.

I like crazy stuff. I'll let you do whatever you want.

1. Trouble in the Streets of Gotham Bloodbath (if it is counted) and Aperture Academy Mafia School (just need a good to go from Shadows and Darkdragon).

2. Totally up for it.

3. Yep.

4. Trouble in the Streets of Gotham Bloodbath. Under the direction of Scubacarrot and Prof. Flitwick, we got rid of those h3lpl3$$ $up3rh3r03$ one by one.

5. Vanilla townies are useful only when they have a keen eye for details, good analytical skills and finally, not afraid of death. With the right composition of cold milk, vanilla extract, sweetened condensed milk, salt and heavy cream. Vanilla townies are the Town's greatest weapon.

6. I give my consent. I am sure it will be just a-ok!

Pretty excited to finally participate in a Hinkley  game, I've heard so many wonderful things. Plus, the theme is notorious in EB and funny.

Nothing fixes incompetence like practice. Sign me up!

1. Sandy's Fairy Tale Mafia and Masked Builder and K-Nut's Jedi Temple Mafia

2. I have no life and a cupboard full of Cheerios. I think I'm good.

3. See above... 20 hours is easy.

4. EB mafia Night Zero opening post... "Where's Shadows? I gotta tell him my role!"

5. Their votes are the Town's most powerful weapon... Also, they're much better mislynch targets than Town PRs.

6. Totes. I'm up for crazy concoctions, those are my favorite things.

Posted

1. Enough experience. You should know, the only game I haven't played with you is Mafia School.... I think :look:

2. I'll be pretty active, not as much as I would love to be (I have track and field), but I can manage to be active and helpful.

3. Of course. I've always gotten in night actions on time.. Then again, I've only had a night action twice, and I only got to use it during one game....\

4. Kind of selfish, but my two favorites are about me.. First, finding the two remaining scum in Police Infiltration (despite not acting upon it), and those un-intentional lie detector cookies I made that you hate from Heartlake.

5. They have nothing to lose, so they are the most useful. They should be active and be very analytical, because all that they can do is sit back and trust what is said in thread and PM's.

6. Well, I'd love to play in any Harry Potter parody mafia that also happens to be a running (?) gag on Eurobricks. You have my word. :cry_happy:

I wasn't in Eurodina. I am not now nor have I ever been a neutral. Disgusting things.

1.) I've been around.

2.) Focus on what now? Oh, the game. Yeah, I'm sure I'll be dead before I have to move.

3.) Won't be a problem.

4.) Hmm. Blowing myself up in Baritones 3. That was an exit.

5.) Vanillas rule the vote. There're are more of them than NA townies. If the vanillas are paying attention, the scum don't have a chance.

6.) Umm... Sure, but just for you.

1. Isla Paradisa, Gotham, Yakuza, Ragnarok, The Pearl, EB Mafia I and II, this (hopefully  )

2. I'm done my exams in less than two weeks, so pretty good for the majority

3. Yep.

4. Either Zepher the werewolf on Day One of Cock Slut Applesauce Mafia or Bob's magical changing defence on Day Eight of Yakuza Family.

5. Their lynch vote is one of the most powerful weapons at the town's disposal.

6. How crazy we talkin'?

I want to play again; please let me redeem myself for my blatant stupideness in EB II!!

1. I have a few games under my belt, most recently EB I, heartlake, The Pearl & EB II

2. Totally focused, able to post everyday an most excited to play mafia again!

3. For sure

4. Several; hard to choose one, I have to say that my favorite game I have participated in was EB II, the setup was/is great and it was/is a great lesson for me!

5. Vanillas got nothing to lose really and as such should be very vocal and work twice as hard to contribute by posting constantly and keeping the pressure on the scum. A vanilla townie can make or break a game based on their level of participation.

6. Really, 6 questions ..... I am ready to deal with whatever you may decide; after Heartlake, EB I, The Pearl and EB II, I feel ready for whatever craziness is comin our way!!

Please pick me, I promise to not blab everything I know on day 2!!!

  1. Your past Mafia experience. I played (starred, really) in: Witchbreed, IMHOTEP, Yakuza Family, Jedi Temple, Excalibur (1+2), The Forest II (Electric Boogaloo), Ragnarok Now, Heartlake Heartbreak and The Pearl
  2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days Pretty good.
  3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines? Yes.
  4. Your favorite Mafia moment. My absolute favorite moment must be getting killed because of a treestump.
  5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful They are important because they are town, and should be used as either coordinating, targets to kill for the scum and that sort of thing. If the Scum keeps killing vanilla's, the power roles remain untouched. So I guess they are most useful when they can succesfully get the scum to target them.
  6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor. You have my word as a root vegetable.

  1. Your past Mafia experience
I passed in your very own Fabuland Housewives Mafia School, and later played in Gotham City Mafia, Yakuza Mafia and most recently The Pearl.
  2. Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days
    Should be absolutely fine.
  3. Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?
    Yes.
  4. Your favorite Mafia moment
Favourite moment I actually witnessed was Bob's flailing in Yakuza. Favourite moment of all time was in Imotep when the camel went crazy and pooped everywhere. Those scenes were just so funny :classic:
  5. Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful
They have a vote, the lynch is the most powerful weapon. They just have to follow things as much as they can, which can be tricky when a lot is done behind the scenes.
  6. (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor.
You have my word. Not a fan of meta gaming.

Your past Mafia experience:

I have been playing for more than 2 years now, with varying degrees of success.

Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days:

As good (or bad) as ever. I don't have any trips planned in the next 32 days, for what it's worth.

Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines?

Your North American deadlines don't concern me, I live in Europe!

Your favorite Mafia moment

Being a sidekick in the Forest II.

Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful

Vanilla townies are the crowd in which the night action townies can hide, and their duty is to pay attention because the voting power is in their hands.

Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming.

Sure, this certainly sounds intriguing.
