emem15 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 yes, that was a joke. not a good one, it seems :) i'm yet to experience my "lucky find", to go back on the subject. until now my only luck is grabbing sets on ebay for approximately 5-10% off the going price, mostly in auction formats or "make offer" items. bit jealous on that $150 find!
andibandit Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Picked up the following used but in box Sidney Opera House(10234) Malevolence(9515) VW T1 Camper Van(10220) for 120$ total at a flea market on a really rainy day.

TheLegoExperience Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 yes, that was a joke. not a good one, it seems :) Oops, didn't look at the usernames. Good one!
Bennemans Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Psst. You're quoting someone other than the person who posted it originally. Ah, of course I am, how stupid of me.
Bricknblue Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 this for $2 D'oh! An older Republican Gunship. http://brickset.com/sets/7163-1/Republic-Gunship
BrickBuilder3213 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I saw an 2014 Imperial Star Destroyer for £20 at the Smyths in Bury. I didn't get it, but I bet someone is going to be REALLY happy.
Sir Brickalot Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 ^ £20? Woah! How come it was so cheap?
Robianco Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 How did you not buy it even for resale value? I bet each of the figures in there would be around £10 each on eBay and the ship itself would be worth more than £20!
BrickBuilder3213 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 That's the thing. The set was only missing the minifigures. It was a display model that had the minifigs stolen from it a few weeks ago, according to a member of staff. Hence why it's so cheap and got bought so quickly by someone in the store.
Risgrynsgrot Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 About a week ago I got the Simpsons House and Metalbeard's Sea Cow at 50 % off. I'll probably never save that much money in one single purchase ever again.
just2good Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 About a week ago I got the Simpsons House and Metalbeard's Sea Cow at 50 % off. I'll probably never save that much money in one single purchase ever again. How?
rodiziorobs Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Stopped at Target and got 31019 Forest Animals clearance priced at 50% off ($9.98). I got it just for a great tan and brown parts pack really, but having built the monkey I find him really charming with a lot of expressiveness. I might not part him out after all--something I have never done, as I part out everthing, even most minifigs. But that's not my best; a couple years back I found a "misc. Lego castle lot" on ebay for $100 including shipping. Looking through the pictures I saw it had most of 10197 Medieval Market Village and a bunch of random castle greys. No one else bid on it, and when it arrived it was missing the minifigs and cows from the MMV with about 10 other generic pieces. The assorted castle bits was actually a nearly complete 7094, King's Castle Siege, missing minifigs and about 10 other pieces. There were some other random minfigs including some trolls with weapons, though. Seeing that each set was MSRP $100, but now go for up to nearly double that on ebay, I felt really lucky to get both nearly complete for the price of one. Still not my best, though. When a LEGO brand store finally opened locally, we went to the grand opening. Well it's a small store, there were huge crowds, and because of occupancy limits we weren't able to get inside--for over two hours. We thought about waiting, or coming back later and hoping the line would have died down, then noticed the build-a-giant Hulk station and thought the kids could have fun there. Just as we got there, they began cleaning it up for the day (go figure). We were about to just go when someone came out and announced they had a few new in damaged box sets to give away including a 10226 Sopwith Camel. Long story short, even though we didn't even get to go inside the store or build a Hulk, we left quite satisfied with our visit after I won the Sopwith Camel in a drawing. I thought of selling it, but I was salivating over the gorgeous dark green too much to actually part with it. Awesome set, absolutely free. I have had a handful of other great deals on ebay--25+ BURPS and LURPS for $6 including shipping, the whole 2012 Avengers lineup for about $90 (with at least one of each character), and a random lot of a few hundred parts including a bunch of rare/discontinued teal for about $20. Bennemans Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Just got the Heartlake Juice Bar at my local drugstore for €12.50! Reduced from €33 to €25, and now half off! Making it a 62% discount Edited December 29, 2014 by Bennemans
KopakaFan116 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I just got Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle for $13 at Walmart. Nostalgia buy right there.
Robianco Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I found a store with 3 sealed 9471 Uruk Hai Army sets at £27.99. Bit of shelf wear on the boxes but the aftermarket value is much higher even if the price is relatively still high.
Zanki Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I found a 2009 polybag in my local Toys R Us today. I don't know how it ended up on the shelf six years later, especially since in the UK it was only available as a Daily Mirror Promotion.
Transparency for Effect Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I also got a Geoffrey Giraffe polybag for a fiver at one of the UK TRU.
SweetiePie88 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Managed a pretty neat score. Was surfing on eBay and found a lego auction that had four 16 X 16 plates and some random parts. . No box or instuctions.I decide "hey, i want to bid on it since i can use the plates for a moc i want to do". i throw a bit of money at the auction and get it for $8.20 including shipping. I go poke around bricklink since it only occured to me then that it appeared to be a set of some sort. I discover its a big part the lego ninjago board game that average used price is 16 bucks and shipping isn't always cheap! i doubt that i will reassemble it as a board game but it's a great deal for a parts pack
Rishab N Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm planning a trip to my local goodwill, and I was wondering if it is a worthwhile chain for used Lego or should I look eleswhere
jonty14 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Just picked up the 60008 Museum roberey set for 29 euros at Toys'r'us in Germany. Plus I got the lego batman DVD free for spending more than 20 euros. Plus they had Star wars minifig magnet packs for 3 euros. (3 figs per pack).
Acidtester Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I'm not sure if this counts as a really spectacular find, but last week I bought a 10185 Green Grocer modular for $300 off craigslist. Currently it is going on amazon.com for $1,100. This one was opened and assembled, listed on craigslist for $450. Seller claimed it was missing 3-5 pieces, but I could tell from the photo that even the railings on the roof were missing (way more than 3-5 pieces). I've been disassembling it and checking parts to see what I have to order. So far it's missing 126 pieces. I still kind of feel like it was the best way to acquire this modular for my little city. I was wondering if the people here could share an opinion or two as to whether or not this was a good deal. Thanks.
AJD Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 So today I bought the following from TLG's 'bricks and pieces' service: Green Arrow, Hawkman, Green Lantern, and Sabine Wren. My order has been placed but I'm really confused, as the site says you can't order licensed figures due to licensing agreements. The four came to £14, so definitely a lucky find, but has there been a change in licensing or is this TLG making an error? Thanks

Thanks I think you may find that the order gets cancelled once they manually check the order inventory for the reasons you mentioned. I hope for you it gets through so keep your fingers crossed!
