fred67 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Got a grab-bag for the first time ever at my local LEGO Store; I could tell there was a pirate sail in it, and thought that was pretty good for a whole bag of stuff plus a sail, so I got it. When I opened it, the first minifigure right there on top (you couldn't see it without opening it) was the Squidward with the molded head. Quick BL search shows it's worth more than I paid for the bag (even used). The second figure was an astonaut from the Space Shuttle set... also worth about the same (over $8, although no used listed). There were a ton of pretty good pieces, too, I was pretty happy, although it's not the greatest find I've ever had.
Blackicep8ntball Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Where the heck did you snab that? Great stuff, you're a very lucky guy Two local people, their kids had just moved on from Lego to other things. I was pretty psyched - I don't score like that very much!
RejectedShrimp Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 heard battle of naboo is on offer at my local asda only £8.00 but can only afford one still amazing deal searching for extra discount vouchers aswell because i am gready
VenVoi Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Found a lone CREATOR Snowman polybag at TRU today still marked down to $0.40. Also happened across the Indiana Jones Ambush in Cairo set; grabbed it even though it was still $9.99.
MinifigFreak2010 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 My uncle and I were out yesterday running errands(Including an eye appointment. I'll have to return tomorrow or the day after for the new frames). I requested to go to a couple stores while we were shopping b/c I really wanted to make 2 combo model sets. When looking for the lego racers(8192, 8193, and 9195), I could only find 8193 at Toys r us b4 eye appointment time(the ones i'm looking for have yellow packaging tops) and the rest were green tops(83 hundreds). Checked target after the appointment and NONE. I go on walmart.com and both of the other sets I'm after are shown "unavailable in stores" and sold out online. I was going to turn to ebay but I asked mom to check at the store for the 2 sets. Well, my uncle and mom went to walmart today and found 92 AND 95!!!!!!!!! I haven't had time to assemble either set(busy organizing some lego in my room ) I'm trying to decide if i'll assemble the sets seperatly and combine another time or vice versa. I'll just Check on FarmVille tonight and sleep on the thought when I go to bed.
MinifigFreak2010 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I have a new lucky find. Last month, I found a "let's build and play - with your bricks" at a local helping hands. I decided against getting it. Boy was I kicking myself for that one. Well, I got there yesterday and it was still there! Not only is it lucky it was still there, but also b/c it was a 1986 lego book, near MINT condition for 35 cents.
RejectedShrimp Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I still need the money but on hold i have 35 SW figures for £70 when they total value of around £200
RubeusHagrid Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Yesterday, I've found some interesting deals in a King Jouet (a french store). On top of the shelves, there were several "old" Lego boxes, including one 7094 Castle, with no sticker price. I've asked the price : 59€! Looking on Ebay, it actually sells for 200+€! There were also a lot of Bionicle big sets (8759 & 8943) for 30/40€, Aqua Raiders 7775 for 40€, and a 7018 "Viking Ship vs Midgard Serpent" for 45€, and several Lego Pirates Advent Calendar for 21€ A good store for every AFOL! Do they have another castle? I would really love one.
gifinim Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Just got a 7939 Cargo Train from Amazon while they were selling it off at £110.36, and a 7936 Level Crossing for £11.98, so I (sort of) got the Level Crossing for free. 2 day sales are great!

Follows Closely Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Whoa, nice! Is there a story there or just someone who didn't know the real value of what they had? The kid wanted to sell all his LEGO and buy some paintball equipment, and he wanted it by this weekend. I was in the right place at the right time.

airsoftg36c Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 My best find was the Slave II like 3 months after it left the stores.... Paid 5 bucks for it. I also found like 100 lbs of pure legos(no mega/tyco/other copy crap) for like 10 bucks Thank You Goodwill!

I also found like 100 lbs of pure legos(no mega/tyco/other copy crap) for like 10 bucks Thank You Goodwill! That is what I find the most enjoyable. Dumping the load and discovering what is in there. I have many good memories of my kids dinging around looking for minifigs and cool pieces.
Sabrien Reed Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I found the Harry Potter game for £12.48 in Tesco and Minotaurus for £4.75. The amount of parts you are getting for the money makes this a good bargain, so I got 2 of the HP and 3 of the Minotaurus. The large tile plates (not shown on the HP box) will make great parking spaces for outside of my MOC supermarket, and the lime green tiles from Minotaurus will go well on the shopping aisles. I just got a couple of Apple Tree House from Amazon for £27.99 to build a scale model of our house as well. It's a decent price-per-brick, I think, but not so good as the games mentioned above.
Jareth Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 One time I found this set at a TRU http://peeron.com/inv/sets/7774-1 about 18 months after it was discontinued. I was broke, so I told myself I wouldn't buy it unless it was less than $20....it was $18 (about 65% off) I also saw two of these sets at a target http://peeron.com/inv/sets/6751-1 unfortunatelly after finding out they were $12 each (about 80% off) the second one was gone. Later when this set http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=30002-1 was discontinued I managed to get several for $1 (about 75% of) but I also managed to get one for $0.39 ($90 off)
Wayno Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 While the the WHITE BOBBA FETT offer was on at Smyths, I bought a battle pack to get the FREE one & the guy threw an extra 2 in the bag, i asked if they could be bought sepratly so he just grabbed a handfull and stuck them in my bag LOL.... came away with 9 white fetts
