The best haul I've had was a box full of lego I found at a thriftshop for €15,-, turned out to be all classic space with dozens of mint condition minifigs and loads of rare parts

My sister found 2 garbage bags full of lego at a flea market for just €20,- and I loved her even more for it!

Rats, looks like I did not get the Lego track after all. They had just shipped the other parts and refunded me for the track so all I got was a small envelope instead of a big box. Oh well.

Goodwill, For The Win.

They have something good every year, guaranteed.

Yes, UCS Batmobile. $10. Hot damn lol.

The best run was back in 2001, before I had gotten into Lego or bought my first Bionicle set.

Walking through Toys R Us, I knew that seeing the Steven Spielberg digicam movie studio sets at Goodwill for less than $30 was a good deal. I bought 2. (And one had been jam-packed with a bunch of smaller studios sets!).

Then, a train set.

Then 2 Millenium Falcons.

Then a giant Darth Vader Tie Fighter.

NONe of them were over $35... some were $15!

Before I knew it, there was a huge pile of Lego before me. All in the time frame of about 4 weekly visits to Goodwill. X-D

Actually, this should probably be in marketplace... moving.

Love this Batman set.

I found a Diagon Alley Harry Potter set MISB for 200 EUR from a seller. Is this a reasonable price? Not a super HP fan but since it's a nice display piece from a big movie franchise.

I am a big HP fan and I would probably pass on that. Still kicking myself for not getting it when it first came out, but that's a pretty big mark-up.

Well, average sold price on bricklink shows it to be around $260+. Converting from Euro to USD, it is about $272. So that actually is a pretty fair/average price.

I'm really glad I bought that set. That was the first thing I ever ordered from Shop at Home.

Was at the LEGO store a while back and was planning on getting 75016, picked up the box and the price tag said 12.99 79016 Cavalry Builder Set. I showed an Employee and he let me get two for the price of one. So got about 295 extra pieces.

I don't like either Mindstorms or Licensed stuff... But the good thing of bricks is that you can do whatever and you got a nice lot, so congratulations...

My 2 best finds were probably while I was in Europe on vacation... I was visiting Salzburg and was part of a tour. We had decided to stop to eat at a very small village, and to my suprise, we discovered a small toy store! In the display was a Fabuland set, which instantly caught my attention. Upon entering the shop, I scored 4520 (http://brickset.com/sets/4520-1/Curved-Rails), 8108 (http://brickset.com/sets/8108-1/Mobile-Devastator), 4090 (http://brickset.com/sets/4090-1/Motion-Madness), 7021 (http://brickset.com/sets/7021-1/Viking-Double-Catapault-versus-the-Armoured-Ofnir-Dragon) and 7020 (http://brickset.com/sets/7020-1/Army-of-Vikings-with-Heavy-Artillery-Wagon). 7021 was perplexing as I knew it was a limited release only in NA (correct me if I'm wrong), so I had no idea why it was there. All these I got for just 70 euros. In addition, the store manager went to his stockroom and gave me 5 Bionicle "booster packs" for free because we had bought so much. (The booster packs had multicolor Rhotuka, gold and silver metallic zamor spheres, blue and purplish squids, and best of all, the Power Pack with the chrome silver Hau. Unfortunately, he wouldn't let me buy the Fabuland set as it was a "display model only." (Darn darn darnedy darn!)

My second find was in Munich when I had discovered a toy store stocking 7070 (http://brickset.com/sets/7070-1/Catapult-Raft) for 1 euro. It was a completely undesirable set aside from the chrome sword it came with. I bought one the first day (as they only had one), and returned the next day to find it restocked. I returned for 5 more subsequent days and got several chrome swords...

Overall, these were my best finds (IMO)....

Went to a B&M store yesterday and picked up the Galaxy Squad Crater Creeper for £7.99 and the Hive Crawler for £24.99! They also had the Galactic Titan for £39.99 and the Warp Stinger for 12.99, and the Star Slicer for £16.99. Finally they had the Batman, LOTR and Chima board games for £12.99 each. AWESOME!

Which Fabuland set was that, then?

As a side note, I've often found very old LEGO sets for sale in shops casually on my yearly holiday to Spain, presumably years after their discontinuation. Including but not limited to:

(In chronological (?) order, though looking at it now, they all seem to come from around 2002)

8552 & 8553 Lehvak Va & Pahrak Va

Years later...

8550 Gahlok Va

4612 Super Glider (XD yes, I know)

8471 Nitro Burner

It was more of a collection of sets in a display, but if I recall, it included a larger windmill-type thing, possible 3679 (http://brickset.com/sets/3679-1/Flour-Mill-and-Shop)

We should make a thread on missed LEGO finds! My town's resale shop once had the Troll Warship, originally $80 for $20, and I went back home to get the money, and when I returned, the set was gone.

I forgot to mention that a town fair had a box of old LEGO (things from Fright Knights, UFO, and Adventurers) in one of those blue LEGO buckets, so I got it and I was the most pleased to find the Willa the Witch (Hubble Bubble in the UK) minifigure's hat, head, cape, and torso. Oddly enough, a couple of years before, I had gotten an assortment of LEGO with her dress slope piece, and none of her other parts. So when I got home, I had the complete minifigure from two different finds!
