My father picked up a pretty incredible garage sale deal for me recently. $5 for a box of mostly Harry Potter LEGO, about 5 lbs worth. There was also 4 instruction manuals in there. I found seven nearly complete sets:

Quiditch Match 4737

Knight Bus 4866

Hogwarts 4867

Hagrid's Hut 4738

Beauty Shop 3187

Freeing Dobby 4736

Forbidden Forest 4865

Only one minifigure is missing (a Hagrid), and about 55 pieces but all minor stuff. All the large, cool, unique stuff is there, and in good shape. For $5...

After a dozen years I got back into LEGO at the beginning of this year and found a ton of Friends sets mostly at 50% clearance, making my late start into the series a bargain (all new unless specified):

* 3315 Olivia's House ($35)

* 41000 Water Scooter Fun ($1.50)

* 41001 Mia's Magic Tricks ($5)

* 41005 Hearlake High ($25)

* 41095 Emma's House ($50)

* 41097 Heartlake Hot Air Balloon ($20)

* 70816 Benny's Spaceship ($50)

* 10662 Creative Bucket 600 pieces ($15)

* 31018 Highway Cruiser ($5)

I've sadly had to lower the bar because it seems that this was just some great luck. I'm still holding out for the new Friends sets to displace many current ones and send them to clearance.

I have had a few lucky finds lately. About a month ago I found 7725 Electric Passenger Train for about $60. A few missing parts, but with replacement parts it will be complete at about $80 total.

Yesterday I found 7740 Inter-City Passenger Train for about $130. Only missing the box.

I've had the LEGO Cloud City set sitting on a table in my room for twelve years complete with all minifigs and never knew what it was worth. So that's a pretty great find I'd say, haha.

I found a 70126 Crocodile Legend Beast for $0.03. That right new for three cents at "Toy R Us" of all places.

When I took it cash register the guy told me. It probably was a for a promo and it shouldn't of been out. But it was their mistake and he let me buy it any ways. I did mention to him when I check it on the price scanner I thought the price might of been wrong.

I also think it help that I bought a "Spectacular Spider-Man: Complete First Season" on DVD at the same time. (I wished they put out a complete "second/rest" season for that series on DVD.)

Finally got myself a lucky find. Local man was selling Prince of Persia: Battle of Alamut. It's a little dusty but it looks complete, and came with instruction manuals as well as extra pieces. He even through in a Desert Attack set because he said some pieces were missing, so he didn't think he would be able to sell it (Looked like it is just missing a few gemstones and the original head of the skeleton. I paid 50$ for it. The two sets would have cost 140$ back when new in the store. Overall I'm pleased, since I seem to never find the deals and the palace looks pretty cool.

I took the risk of buying nine current mid-sized sets from someone on Craigslist offering them new sealed at half price, even though I was wary of the whole thing. Opened sets in front of seller and they checked out and seller wasn't bothered by verifying. Planning next buy. This is going to make me broke. I still have not fully accepted that this really happened.

There's a local seller on craiglist selling the AT-AT Walker and the Imperial Transport for $50 each, which is half of their retail. I think if I had more money I would jump on those.

I may have just ordered a lonely mountain set brand new, free P&P, from eBay for £37.... it seems too good to be true but will keep you all posted!!

Well the seller has decent feedback but I'm always wary of someone selling multiple copies of sealed set so cheap. Even if you get the item I wouldn't be too surprised if someone else has paid full amount for it somewhere else especially if this set arrives to you direct from Lego or another retail vendor.

Alas, apparently it was a computer hack! Shame, I might have to pay the regular amount! Disgusting...

Bargain Hunt strikes again...

41058 Friends - Heartlake Shopping Mall

Lego.com: $109.99

Bargain Hunt: $59.00

60036 City - Arctic Base Camp,

Lego.com: $89.99

Bargain Hunt: $59.00

Part of the fun for me here is sometimes the box is open... The Arctic Base camp was that way when I opened it. There wasn't a Bag 2 and Bag 4 was open. There were a bunch of pieces floating loose in the box. after the build, I was missing 1 piece, and had another was damaged. I was able to use it. Though I did order the both on Lego.com in the missing piece section.

I guess this qualifies as a lucky Lego find. A few weeks ago I bought a lot on eBay of assorted bigfigs and creatures. The auction didn't even have everything listed. I mainly bought it for the 2 Goblin Kings and the 2 Cave Trolls. It also inclluded:

3 Rancors

3 Wampas

4 Tan Trolls

2 Mars Mission Commanders

1 new Jabba

1 old Jabba

1 Rotta the Hutt

1 Hulk in tan pants

1 Green Goblin

1 Tauntaun

1 Fawkes Phoenix

All for $130. Most of it was new and still in sealed bags. I estimate its worth at about $300.

I got the Cloud City Lando Figure Plus others for 20 quid. I noticed the seller had split up cloud city and was selling 200g of lego for a couple of pound a time, what a waste. He had already sold most of it or else I would of bought it. Lucky whoever bought Boba Fett.

I recently found 10193 Medieval Market Village, 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop, and 10216 Winter Village Bakery for $75 off Craigslist. Dusty and no minifigures or other small items, just the buildings and a tree (the other tree is actually from a fire plane set). A couple dozen cracked pieces in Medieval Market (including some pricey tan arches) but mostly good. All of them missing a good deal of inside details. I've been wanting 10193 for a while but wasn't willing to pay the $100+ price it goes for used now, so this was great. I love the Tudor style of buildings.
