Ricecracker Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Every yard sale I go to theres NOTHING of LEGO! NOTHING! Not fair. Try calling ahead (If a phone number is listed) in the future. It can save a lot of time.
The Alchemyst Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 (edited) Went to a large annual Garage sale at a school. What a haul! Around 8.5 pounds [4kg] of Bionicle/Technic, and another 8.5 lb for Bulk System. Many of the system was from Knight's Kingdom so there was a lot of Dark Red and Dark tan. :D There were like 12 Minifigs, 10 KK, other are random. o.o A lot of accessories though. :D There were also 4 large complete KK figures, and an Xpod. Not to mention like $30+ worth of Bionicle masks. All for $33USD. But here's the kicker. A complete [i think, still building it] UCS Imperial Star Destroyer, used, for $20. EDIT Oh, and after check out, I'm sitting waiting, and an AFOL walks in, looks at the box and is in disbelief when I say I bought it for $20; he offers to buy it for $25. XD So that's like $400+ worth of Lego for less than $55. [-The Alchemyst-] Edited May 17, 2009 by The Alchemyst
demaarten Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 3 weeks ago. I bought a bunch of lego from a collector. Most of the sets were, 50% off the street price. But the best deal that i did was 2x 10025, 2x 10022 and 2x 10020 the complete Santa Fe collection in other words, for.... 100 euro. All MISB.... I now own the complete Santa Fe collection with 3x 10022 and 2x 10025 an I kept 1 santa fe locomotive.
samurai-turtle Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I found this 7676 Republic Attack Gunship for $35 brand new (it was on clearance at a Wal-Mart). Imagine my surprise at the price, I do not remember that they were advertising at that price. (I went back to the same store a few weeks later. And they still had a couple sets left I could of got more if I wanted to.) And I got this 76212 Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb for $5 brand new (at the local K-Mart). (From what I remember it was the last one too. Do not ask me if this was on clearance I did not see any thing that would suggest that it was.)
BobaFett2 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Wow! I found a seller on Bricklink who lives about 15 minutes away from me. I can get a 20 dollars off discount, and I got 20 dollars off buying 5 dollars for my brother, and 20 dollars off from my mom (B-Day present) and so I payed 65 dollars for the Aero Tube Hangar, Mike's Dinohunter, A Knights' Kingdom II Set (With Sir John and a bad guy, a sword and two towers), the small Aquasharks set, and something else.
paanjang16 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Came across an ad in a local online website which usually sells stuff other than Lego. The ad had the picture of the SP-Striker and Crystal crawler box. The description wasn't that clear, except that there were 8 Lego boxes in good condition. Call up the number and managed to speak to a lady who put up the ad. To my great surprised her house is less than 10 minutes away! When I went to see the 'loot', I was surprised at what was the other stuff:- Caribbean Clipper - with BOX and instructions! It even have that plastic tray that came with the box!! Broadside's Brig - with box and instructions Shipwreck Island - with box and instructions SP-Striker - with box, the plastic holder, paper tray and instructions Spyrius recon robot- with box and instructions Gas and Go flyer - with box and instructions Crystal crawler - with box and instructions Paradise Playground - with box and instructions and 2 other 'basic' lego set. Sorting out the pieces I was surprised to find 6314 City People and lots of trees. Overall almost (as in 99%) of all the pieces are there. But there's more!! It even came with 2 catalogs from 1991 in near perfect condition!! All the above for RM 280 = USD 88.

Not bad mate, I am castle and pirate fan only, but that still is a great deal considering that Caribbean Clipper goes for that alone. I just got 29 white horses for $12 bucks :) Only 2 of them are a bit yellowish, the rest are mint.
B.C. Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Just thought I would jump and get my first post over with. 2 years ago I found the 7094 Lego Castle at Wal-Mart for $50 usd, half price. Last year I stood in line on black Friday at my local Target store to buy the 7048 Troll Warship for $50 usd, again about half price. A few weeks ago I scored big time on Craigslist, bought the 9719 Mindstorms, 9732 Extreme Creatures, and the 9730 Robosports sets. All boxes were unopened and had been stored since 2001. Bought them all for $80 usd. Retail price at the time the guy bought them was $300. Anyway, cool forum you got here, my 7 yr old daughter loves it as much as I do.
jaash Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 This is my first post too.....I guess this thread is as good a place as any to start, huh? Anyway, my "luckiest" Lego find was actually my first Lego purchase three years ago....and it is what got me hooked on Lego in the first place! My wife and I were expecting our first child, so the excited new dad in me started looking through the toy aisles and I saw a stack of Lego sets on clearance. Since I loved Lego as a kid, I took a closer look and saw a huge box that turned out to be the Lego Batcave. Clearance price was $18. I debated whether or not I actually wanted it for a while (knowing what I know now, I can't believe I even thought about it before snatching it up!!!), and finally decided to go ahead and buy it. A few weeks after that, we found out we were having a girl....and I thought that I had made a mistake because what girl would want a Lego Batcave??? Well, now that my daughter is 3.....I am SOOOOO glad I bought that set because she and I have spent many hours together building Lego sets already. And now I have a newborn boy as well, so I'm sure he'll appreciate the Batcave even more. :) My second lucky find was a purchase from Craigslist a couple of weeks ago. I bought a lot containing the following sets from a mom whose son didn't want his Lego sets anymore. All sets were in excellent used condition with no missing pieces that I have found so far (we have built the first three sets on the list), and they were all neatly organized in labled ziplock bags with the instruction booklets attached (no boxes). All of these sets were included, and I paid $250 for the whole lot. 6209 Slave I 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge 7662 Trade Federation MTT 7252 Droid Tri-Fighter 7257 Ultimate Lightsaber Duel 7259 ARC-170 Starfighter 7661 Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring 7166 Imperial Shuttle 4853 Spider-Man's Street Chase 4854 Doc Ock's Bank Robbery 8823 Knights Kingdom Mistlands Tower 8877 Knights Kingdom Vladek’s Dark Fortress 7773 Aquaraiders Tiger Shark Attack 4745 Alpha Team Blue Eagle vs. Snow Crawler .......plus a couple of additional baggies full of miscellaneous parts and mini-figs. So those should keep the kids and I busy for several weeks!! And while I'm at it, I was also able to get the UCF Millenium Falcon at the reduced price during the May The Fourth sale a couple of weeks ago -- I'm thrilled to have that set, even though it's going to sit in the closet for a few years until the kids are old enough to REALLY enjoy building it with me!

Second of all wow that's a pretty good haul for $250. I'm not a big Lego Batman fan but even I would be thrilled out of my mind to get the batcave for 18 bucks . See around the forums- Your friendly neighborhood Plams .
Peppermint_M Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 My local Tesco store keeps selling sets at discount in the clearance section. I got the city minifigures for £2.68! I got the Smart Car for £2.50 and the Toy Story Army Men for £5.98! Great Bargains
AhabDarab Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) About 5 months after the Black Friday Walmart King's Castle Seige $50 (MSRP $100) sale I went into the WalMart near a friends house. I had been in there before with no luck. This time I went in and the had 4 King's Castle Seige sets for $35 each. I have had a few others, but that was my personal best. Ahab out.................. The Green Brick Giant Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 My mom went to tag sales and found a box of LEGOs for $5. Included are 27 complete minifigures, mostly soccer ones, but there was an old Ice Planet and NASA torso that I don't have. There were a few older (early 90s) computer tiles, a black castle wall with white printing, lots of hair and suck, a pull back motor, a big strange red window I have never seen before, a slightly broken green baseplate, a divers dome, a red 14x4 base for a car that has 6 places for wheels, also never seen it before. There is also a grey brick separater, right there is $2. Last year at a church sale my mom found a working 12V train, but the wheels were missing and I don't know where to replace them (yeah yeah Bricklink ) and a few random pieces for $5. I'll try to post pictures later. I just finished getting rid of the filth that was mixed in the box, aka the Megabloks.
prateek Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Oh my gosh. I wish I can find a good garage sale like this one day.

I had to look up what car boot was, we call them car trunks. In the USA they are called outdoor flea markets, or just large tag sales, yard sales, garbage sales, they all seem to be the same thing.
k_peek_2000 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) I just got a 6285 Black Seas Barracuda for 40 USD complete with all the minifigs. Edited June 2, 2010 by k_peek_2000
GRogall Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Bought this about 2 years ago at a local Kaufhof (Still sealed today), My girlfriend was working there at the time and they found it hidden in a storage room and very dusty. The offered it to me for a little over €11 and with my girlfriends rebate of 30% i got it for a little over €7. I put the receipt inside the box so if anybody ever opens it the will be very astound! but besides that I just bought 3221 for €19.95 - 20% so €15.99
SilentMode Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I travelled all the way to Gillingham, Kent yesterday to pick up what turned out to be a small lot of Lego. (The Gumtree ad I'd answered falsely advertised the location as Gillingham, London.) I felt ripped off from the start, as a lot of the bricks turned out to be [some other brand], as was common with most of the lots I'd bought. But lo and behold, of the genuine parts that were left, I managed to find a yellow bicycle! I hear these things fetch a good price. (I really have to start going to car boot sales.)
jamzee Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 In my local "The Entertainer" last weekend, there were 3 x 7699 Armoured Drilling Units which I think were discontinued ages ago - strage how sets sometimes turn up!! Awesome set btw...
Sisco Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I was staying at my friend's house yesterday, helping him clean up a bit. We were digging under the bed when... I dragged a big 'ol bag of Lego out from the dusty underside of his bunkbed. It was a nearly complete Naboo Starfighter set. I asked him if he ever considered selling his Lego, and he said to take it, because he had ''grown out'' of Lego. So... A complete Naboo starfighter, minus three easily replaced pieces, for free. Score!
