But on the other hand, LEGO sets cost double the price and even more in Israel. Off-Topic: I do apologise but I cannot make a new thread so I thought this thread was fitting. I found this item in a charity shop and I've been unable to find any information on it / what set it came from. Can anyone help? If you want to post images that large, put a link. Tequila Teala Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 In 1990 I was at the flea market around Aloha Stadium in Hawai'i. I found a seller who had a box full of Legos for $10.00. Turned out they were out of space sets from around the late '70s and '80s. Included four base plates, the crater, mountain range, landing pad and straight-away, all gray. When I moved, I think I left some at my parents house as I can't find the crater plate. A few years back, I bought a bag of Legos and mixed toys and found a nearly complete set of the Chief's Tepee (6746), Bandit's Wheel Gun (6790), and (6799) from the Western Themed set. I paid $3.00 for that bag. I still have many of my sets from my childhood and have had a lot of fun putting them together. Now I am back into collecting again and trying to see how I can make an awesome display/panorama scene. Oh, this is my first posting and I just joined this site today. Thanks!

I traded my Batman sets: Batcave, Tumbler, Bat Tank, and minifigs from Arkham Asylum for a slew of SW sets. In return I got (all with minifigs): 4504 Millenium Falcon (albeit missing the escape pod) Tie fighter Collection (Tie droid, advanced and two std fighters) Tie Bomber (was in the tie collection box) UCS Death Star II Imperial Inspection (missing the little cart and crane station thingy) but I only cared for the Shuttle and minifigs. I was really surprised that the lady I traded with, was willing to give me all that for only 3 batman sets. I know what the Batman sets go for on Bricklink but Im not too concerned with the values as much as I am about the sets I get in trade. I think I got a great deal. Im super pleased to get the 4504 MF since I dont think I will find a UCS MF for a decent price anytime in the near or distant future. NIB as well, in the original shipping box, which was unopened. I also picked up about 120 of the Collectible Minifigs series one after they were out of stock as well. LegoDad42 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) My 5 best finds... - Death Star 10188 ($400 kit) paid $265.00 no shipping but tax. - Space Skulls 10192 ($100 kit) paid $20.00, free shipping, no tax(saved $89.00). - Space Police Galactic Enforcer ($100 kit) paid $65.00, no shipping but tax. - Indiana Jones Temple of Doom ($90 kit) paid $76.00 which included shipping, no tax(saved $22.00). - Batman The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise ($50 kit) but paid $35, free shipping and no tax Xmas of 2008, then the line was cancelled and it skyrocketed the following spring to over $200.00. Sounds like you got back about less than $1400.00 worth of Star Wars for about $1150.00 worth of Batman sets and mini-figs. It's roughly a fair swap if they were all MISB...but looks like you got some used and missing some elements. Not sure of prices if they're used and missing parts but regardless (I figured the lower end prices on the sets), looks like you made out about $250.00 ahead in the deal (rough estimate).

Arkham Asylum $30 clearance at Tuesday Morning (Overstock store like Marshalls or TJMAXX) Bat Tank $15 Clearance at TJMAXX Tumbler $59.99 normal retail price at Target. Batcave $60 clearance at TRU So I feel pretty good about my trade.

Show them what I just got off from craigslist (see above). Your parents will go for craigslist if you can show them how cheap you can get lego. I think $50 is too high, talk them down.

I saw old Mindstorm 1.0 (from 1990's) missing everything important to Mindstorm, $200 used. Cloud City 7119 in a worn box, heavily taped, and sounding like it's missing half of the box for $100 and a bin of Duplo bricks for $60 or so. I gave up looking for Lego there. I have tried Craig's List but everytime I see something good, someone already got it. I'd like to know how it can be sold in less than 3 seconds after it gets posted Bet there's Lego resellers somewhere who spends 24 hours a day hitting refresh on browser window. I do get my deal elsewhere. Such as Mindstorm 1.5 from Walmart in 1998 for $25 (new!! complete!!!) and several Znap sets from Toys R Us for $10 (that's 2 motors per $10, can't beat that!!). And box 4404 (missing few pieces) free, boxed 8386 complete, only half assembled then abandoned for $2, and a huge 50# bin of assorted lego bricks including a complete 7898 and some 50 instruction manual from 2002-2006 for $200. If I parted that bin out and matched everything to the included manual, that was easily over $1,000 based on Bricklist average price. All from garage sales, yard sale, porch sale, barn sale, rummage sale, church charity sale, boot sale, etc.

All of the thrift shops in the area seem to be picked or overpriced, and clearance aisles consist of one Bionicle set. There are currently 5 people with posts on Craigslist in my area offering to buy legos, so no reason to throw my name in that hat. Thought about posting on facebook to see if any friends have kids who no longer use theirs, kind of a pre-emptive garage sale grab.
