Hi All,

I'm planning a castle MOC, and I've been thinking about what kinds of details I can add to the interior of the castle. I'd like to give it a detailed interior instead of simply focusing on the architecture. So, I've posted a list of some rooms and features that I think would look good in a castle MOC, and I thought it would be nice to gather ideas from the community as well. Hopefully we can come up with a good list of ideas!

Rooms:

Great Hall: Throne, tables, chairs, banners, torches, statues, wall decorations

Armory: Extra weaponry, forge

Library: Bookshelves, maps

Kitchen: Oven, kitchenware, food

Quarters: Beds, chests, storage

Stables: Horses, riding equipment, other animals

Chapel: Windows, benches

Cells: Chains, skeletons, rats

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I forgot to mention this site: http://www.classic-c...o/articles.html

It has a lot of useful information on this topic. In particular, the article "Medieval Interiors" has some nice examples of castle interiors.

I think you forgot about an important thing in the chapel: An Altar, and maybe a desktop for priest to read holy books during a sermon. Maybe you would want to add a tomb, ot two in the chapel... I'd also would put some torture devices (like torture rack, Gibbet, decapitation block) to the dungeon... If there would be maidens' room, I would suggest putting a loom, or spinning wheel in it. If it's going to be a fantasy castle, how about court wizard's or alchemist's laboratory? With bookshelfs, crystal orbs, desks with bottles, a cauldron, or telescope...

I am confused. Are looking for ideas, or telling what you are making. Cause if you are lookin for ideas, here's a throne and statue for ya.

A little of both. I listed some ideas that I've already come up with, but I'm also looking for ideas from others.

Very nice throne room!

Very nice throne room!

Thanks! Glad I could be of help.

Maybe you could make an oubliette for your castle  .

A kitchen could stand to have some wine barrels, beds in the chambers should probably have four posts and drapes, you know.

If you want some more inspiration, I recommend you check out Stephen Biesty's Incredible Cross-Sections and Castle by David Macaulay. They were very helpful when I built a castle out of foamcore and card a number of years ago. Mind you, not a very good castle, but the books were helpful nonetheless.

Amazing details!

A solar, for the Lord and his family to be alone.

A cellar.

A Granary.

A Smith.

A latrine tower.
