CorneliusMurdock Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Cronk will remember that. Cronk does not like doorframe. What do friends think party should do next?
Chromeknight Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 There's one more outstanding rent to collect on this floor, room 203. He owes four hundred gold. Mister Greely said that he ducks out the window, so we may need to barge in to prevent him fleeing. We could also knock on the other doors on this floor to say hello and ask about Wolpertingers and alchemical batteries. What do you think Dyric?
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I think the outstanding rent comes first, seeing as it is our job, but once we're done with Room 203 I say it wouldn't hurt to talk to the others in the floor while we're up here. Room 203 it is.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 The party heads to room 203, no one answers their knock upon the door.
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I suppose this is when we break down the door? I shout at the door first. Heroes of Heroica! Open up!
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 A slight scurrying is heard but still no reply.
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Blast it. I grab my chain whip and swing at the door, letting the twin chains rip through it. If the man is running to the window when the door opens, I fire an arrow at him to halt his retreat, but not kill him. Edited May 6, 2013 by The Legonater
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 The chains hit the door tearing through the wood revealing an interior metal backing.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Dyric can see an imposing metal door still very much blocking their way into the room.
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I look for a lock or any other notable features on this door.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Dyric fails to note any lock and detrmines that the door must be unlocked from the inside, it appears the party will have to find some other way to get inside. Edited May 6, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Atramor fails to note any lock and detrmines that the door must be unlocked from the inside, it appears the party will have to find some other way to get inside. Wondering how the old witch showed up here, I ask him to use his magic on the door knock on the door next to 203. I think the best plan here, is to use these windows to our advantage. I'll go out the window in this room, and jump across to the one in 203.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Dyric knocks on the door to the room next to 203 which eerily creaks open. The rogue starts to make his way inside but comes upon a strange sight. "Umm... Can I help you?"
posades Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Xander pauses for a second and closes his eyes, attempting to track down the inhabitant of the room. OoC:
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I study the sight of the grim grinning ghosts for a few moments. If you wouldn't mind, sir, we are in pursuit of a man and need use of your window.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Xander pauses for a second and closes his eyes, attempting to track down the inhabitant of the room. OoC: QM Note: Which room? "Sure, I guess."
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I nod to the ghost, then step out the window and leap to the window to Room 203.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Dyric leaps out of the window and straight into an iron grating placed in front of the window in Room 203, he finds entrance will be impossible through that direction and thinks it better to return to the other room rather than risk falling to the street below. In his brief inspection of Room 203 he notes no light is on, but notices a shadowy figure moving about the room, red eyes glaring out the window.
The Legonater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Frustrated, I return to the room. If I were to guess, there's a vampire in there.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) "Oh Crube? I don't think so, we've seen him go out in the day light and according to my research vampires can barely stand the sun, much less go at high noon in it. Spengmore by the way." The ghost offers his hand. "And that's Venkler, Stanman, and Zeddtz. We'd really appreciate it though if you kept our staying here a little hush hush." Edited May 6, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
Chromeknight Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Nerwen shook the ghost's extended hand. Noting that this must be room 205, Nerwen said, Greetings. My name is Nerwen, the Orc paladin is Cronk, Xander is the hunter, and the aerobic assassin is Dyric. Did you enjoy your surf and turf from the kitchen? We were able to help the chef prepare it. Whilst we are here, we are also looking for an alchemical battery and a Wolpertinger, and possibly and escaped firedrake. Have you seen any of those? And if its not rude, may I ask why you are here? Guests or working?
Waterbrick Down Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 "Ah, thank you, but the meal was mainly for keeping up appearances. No one's actually really renting this room on the books, but what the cook doesn't know can't hurt him. The guys and I were brought in 6 years ago to deal with a haunting problem, we're sort of like exterminators." "Speak for yourself, I happen to have a degree in parapsychology and psychology..." "Anyways, the job went bad and we somehow ended up on the other side of the mortal realm in various states of mortality. We've really aren't sure where to go or what to do, so we've been hiding out here for the past 6 years." "It's not really all that bad. Sure you end up feeling like the floor of a taxi some days, but we play a little cards, scare off anyone that tries to rent out the room, and just wait and watch the world go by." "I'm afraid our alchemical batteries were transformed into an etherial state, they wouldn't do you much go in the mortal realm. Haven't seen head nor tail of a Wolpertinger, but if you're interested in fire drakes, I know they keep a pair in the basement."
Chromeknight Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 If the meal is here and you have not eaten it, may we perhaps have it? And is there some way we might give you some peace and make you ready for leaving this mortal plane? Is it your unfinished work that keeps you here?
Waterbrick Down Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 "Sure it's all yours." Spengmore motioned to the plate of food over on one of the tables. Raw Meat - Raises maximum health by 5 permanently. "As for setting us free, if you can think of anything we'd be eternally grateful. We never did find the spook that was supposed to be haunting the place, it was supposed to be a dastardly one too. You know, biblical proportions, cats and dogs living together and all that. Mayhaps if you find this spook, he might have something to do with setting us free."
