Waterbrick Down Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Cronk checks the posts and finds that they are firmly secured the floor. Nerwen attempts to focus the scattering to the correct gems, however she seems to be missing a few more parts, perhaps if the party found a few more reflective surfaces, they could focus the correct beams of light into their respective gems.
The Legonater Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well, we definitely need that gold statue. Can anyone else find anything?
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 There was shield out in hallway that might be shiny. Cronk's sword and helmet are shiny, too.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Dyric determines that while such items as a shield would be helpful, they would require a little extra polish to achieve the necessary reflectiveness. Edited May 8, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Cronk just remembered that Cronk's armor is very shiny. Cronk polished armor recently, too! Should Cronk try standing somewhere? Cronk will also look under bed. Maybe more shiny things under there?
Waterbrick Down Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Cronk manages to only find dust bunnies and what look to be female undergarments, but nothing else is found under the bed.
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well those are interesting. Cronk does not see those kind of things every day either. Cronk will stand trying to reflect light from green stone into green stone on wall with Cronk's armor.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 While Cronk is able to direct light into the emerald, he ends up blocking light from getting into the other gems, it becomes apparent that the heroes will have to add polished reflective surfaces to their scavenger hunt list.
Chromeknight Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Nerwen smiles at the sight of Cronk gingerly handling discarded lingerie. Sash had a shiny plate. But we should keep looking. Let us move on to the next room. Nerwen knocks on door 305.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 QM Note: Sorry all, I'm in the middle of finals week just before graduation, you'll get a proper update in the next 24hrs. There is no answer to Nerwen's knock on 305.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 A slight breeze stirs through the hall, gusting open the door to Room 305. Cautiously the heroes peer inside.
Chromeknight Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Nerwen steps into the room, examining the body, the cupboard and letter on top, then the bookcase. She recalls a spell the masters knew. The would take a small rodent and wave it across a room. When it changed, they would know it they were pointing at something important. She wished she recalled the incantation. Greely said he had not seen this tenant in a week.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Nerwen sees that the corpse's left leg and arm have been torn off and there is blood everywhere. The man wears a nice suit and a magnifying glass is still clutched in his right hand. The cupboard seems to be an ordinary piece of standard furniture, and the letter is a note entailing the transfer of money from someones account to the inn. Apparently the tenant had been in the process of paying his rent. Nerwen moves over to the bookshelf but only notices a few less known titles on the bookcase.
Chromeknight Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Nerwen takes the magnifying glass and the letter, confirming as she does so, that the 120gold owed was accounted for. She then examines the barrel and chest. Finally, she uses the end of her staff to poke the other members of the party. The idea of something strong enough to tear of limbs is worrisome enough. But the fact the limbs have been taken is more disturbing.
The Legonater Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Could this be the act of the fire drakes? Or worse, that creature Cronk was looking for?
Waterbrick Down Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Nerwen scoops up the magnifying glass and letter, which is indeed written for 120 Gold, and goes over to investigate the barrel and chest. Lifting the lid to the chest, Nerwen catches a brief glance of a row of very sharp teeth. The elf hastily shuts the lid and returns to her companions, whom she starts poking with the end of her staff.
posades Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 "We may have found the culprit....of this," Xander says as he solemnly points to the body. "But, what is it?"
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 OOC: I'm very sorry. I'm recovering from some medical issues. To get better, I need to rest and that may mean less EB time the next few days. If I'm holding up the quest at all, someone else in the party can act for Cronk. Cronk does not think this could be fire drake. Body is not burned. If thing in trunk is wolpertinger, wolpertinger is much different than was described to Cronk. Also, how could creature enclosed in trunk kill tenant if creature is in trunk? Creature would have to be put in trunk after. Cronk checks windows. Breeze come from somewhere, right?
Waterbrick Down Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Cronk checks the windows, there is a slight draft, but it appears the wind is blowing through the room and out the windows. Edited May 11, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
Chromeknight Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I believe the trunk is sapient pearwood. Something I have only read about. Nerwen ducks out of the room and returns with the undergarments from the faun's room. She slowly approaches the trunk, lifts the lid gently and drops the clothing in.
Waterbrick Down Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) The trunk, not a fan of consuming someone's laundry, spits the garments back out. There is a rustling in the room as the furniture begins to come to life and the heroes begin to see how the poor gentleman met his end. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Chromeknight Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Sorry gents! At least we get to hit something now!
Chromeknight Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 There are seven of them and four of us. We are going to take some free hits at the start. We should leave the weakest enemies to deal free hits, which are the box, chest and cabinet. No one is wielding a Sapphire weapon, which would do no damage, nor a topaz weapon, which would do double. Xander has the electro gear, but there is no time to put it on. Cronk should take the armchair, it is the toughest opponent. Xander should take the bed as he is next strongest and hopefully can favour mechanical enemies at some point. That leaves books for myself and the assassin. Does all that sound reasonable? Nerwen attacks the black book from the front row
The Legonater Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I would actually think it more prudent for me to take the armchair - it is the most powerful enemy I have a chance of assassinating.
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Cronk could counterstrike a book in three rounds. Cronk could take on box. Afraid effect not so scary... Cronk will leave it up to friends.
