The Legonater Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Are we ruling out Eusta- er, Ecastue possible getting the fire drakes to do it? They do seem dragon-like.
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Nerwen, Ecatsue said each dragon could heat a room in winter. That power combined might do some damage. Or it is possible that Ecatsue is well versed in fire magic. Ecatsue does seem to have knowledge of alchemy... At very least, Ecatsue does not seem to care about paying rent so friends must resolve that situation. What do friends think party should do about it?
The Legonater Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 No, not these dragons, the fire drakes, the ones downstairs! Is it possible he could have gotten them to do it!
Chromeknight Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Nerwen looks at Dyric with pity. You do need sleep. According to U'reeves, the drakes were not in the building when Krook died. So whether he could encourage them to do it is irrelevant. Turning to Cronk This is the same sort of situation as with 'justice' Crube. We should ask him if he has anything valuable to offer if he does not have the gold, or at least something he would offer as security. Or perhaps we might consider paying his debt for him if we believe in his cause.
The Legonater Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Right, of course. Does this man really have a cause? His actions seem almost purely selfish in nature. Sure, they are understandable, and I pity the man, but I'm not sure it could be said he has some noble cause or anything. That said, I do think we should help him if we can. I'm fine with asking him for something in collateral, but he does not appear to have much besides chemicals and dragons.
posades Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 "We came here with a clear objective; either we get the gold from him, or something of equivalent worth. While I feel for the man, this does not concern the current task at hand."
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Cronk agrees. If party can help Ecatsue, great. But Ecatsue did not seem willing to accept help that Cronk offered. Perhaps if Dyric took up negotiations as party leader...
The Legonater Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Alright, let's see. Greetings, sir - Ecatsue, is it? I'm Dyric Rone, leader of this party and hero of Heroica. I understand we're in a bit of a tight situation here. You have something Mr. Greely wants, but seem to have nothing to offer. I disagree. You are an alchemist, and a skilled one I might add. Surely you could create something or sell a few unneeded chemicals to make up for the debt?
Waterbrick Down Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 "Dyric is it? While my skills at alchemy might prove entirely thorough, I must use the remainder of my supplies to finish my own experiment. I am afraid there is nothing else I could offer him."
The Legonater Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I was afraid of that. Perhaps you could offer Mr. Greely some services? I understand you are busy - and rightly so - but perhaps you could assist in odd jobs like helping clean up. I believe there is an... investigation somewhat underway as well, perhaps you could assist with that?
Waterbrick Down Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 "Services? No, I'm afraid as soon as this experiment is done, I will be leaving. I'll ensure to make sure Mr. Greely is compensated for any back rent though. Now if you excuse me, this next step requires my utmost concentration and I cannot have any distractions for the rest of the evening."
The Legonater Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I'm going to see if we can get anything he knows about Krook's death in exchange for an extension on his debt. Kill two birds with one stone. Any objections?
Chromeknight Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Is there anything you can offer in security as to your promise of payment?
Waterbrick Down Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 "Apart from my word, no. But I am sure you have received greater promises from lesser people and would not hold it against you to not accept mine."
posades Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Speaking to Ecatsue, Xander says evenly: "I am confused as to why you need this room for your alchemy experiment? We would be more than happy to move your operations outdoors."
Waterbrick Down Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) "Have you ever attempted a week long ritual in the streets of Eubric? Not something particularly looked upon with appreciation." Edited June 28, 2013 by Waterbrick Down
Chromeknight Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Your dedication to your task is commendable. Clearly you are not entirely adverse to the thought of performing your experiment elsewhere, it is merely your desire to do it right now that is problematic. You indicated that you are older than most humans, have you not learnt in your time that fate is happy to wait? Whether this ritual begins today or tomorrow is of little consequence in the long run. Therefore I counsel you, settle up with Greely now. This means we need not bother you any longer and you can find somewhere to complete your self appointed task. I am afraid we cannot leave until you have done so.
Waterbrick Down Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 "The ritual has already begun and to leave it now would spell certain failure at ever regaining my original visage. Yes, I have lived longer than almost any human I know, but fate is also happy to never grant what one most desires. Therefore I must seek to take back what is mine while I still can. Now I will speak no further on this matter, I must concentrate" With that, the man turns from the party and begins gazing into the crystal ball intently.
The Legonater Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 It doesn't seem he's going to talk much more. Should we talk to Greely about an extension? I don't like it, but we don't seem to have much choice. Just so you all know, I'm gone July 2-15th on a trip. I'll get on when I can. Hopefully we can have this wrapped up by then, however?
Waterbrick Down Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 QM Note: You're on the last bit of the quest, so we should be finishing up just about then.
Chromeknight Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I am concerned he hides half his face. And there's is something... backwards about him. It is nothing specific, but off putting nonetheless. As for returning to Greely, I do not which to fail this quest, which requires us to collect the rents owed. Perhaps we should wait and observe how the ritual progresses.
The Legonater Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 And interesting suggestion. As there seems to be little more to do at the moment, I agree. We'll see how this ritual goes.
Waterbrick Down Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 As the party waits, they notice Ecastue's figure slightly distort. His shoulders hunch more and he begins to turn a sickly green color. The man it seems is in pain, but he remains standing, his eyes fixed upon the crystal.
