Henchmen4Hire Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I have enough SP3 officers, now it's time to build up the other guys. Ordered some parts, going to have to paint a few bits black, easy stuff. I'm annoyed that the one guy who has a bunch of Rench (New Blacktron) torsos wants over 2 dollars for them. I'm not too keen on spending 20 bucks for a few torsos, but I may not have a choice since Rench figures sell for even more -_- Anyway, here are some made up Blacktron troops. Just imagine them with Blacktron torsos: From left to right: Sniper, Infantry with pistols, Infantry with fancier goggles and rifle. Laser Armor-cutter (to wreck tank treads, walker-legs, break into fortresses, etc), Commando, Armored Artillery Guy lol Robot Drone Demolitions Guy (he ran out of hi-tech explosives!) Space Assault Troop (capable of fighting in space, zooming around sabotaging enemy craft and being a general nuisance) Experimental Weapons Guy (they test fancy new weapons in the battlefield) Edited April 26, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
Maxim I Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 That's a nice looking space army!! Good luck with building them Quote
DraikNova Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 A near-perfect army. The only one I´d change is the Robot-Drone. The head just doesn´t work well. Quote
Devorath Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Blacktron is my favourite space theme, and your additions fit nicely into the army. I agree with J2G, but also suggest changing the Armoured Artillary Guy's visor to black. Amazing job! Quote
DraikNova Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) but also suggest changing the Armoured Artillary Guy's visor to black. You should probably change all the visors to black, except for the space assault troop´s. Edited April 21, 2013 by DraikNova Quote

Henchmen4Hire Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) Yep, the robot looks weird, it has more of a bounty hunter vibe. I'd rather make a meaner brick-built robot. I used bley visors/goggles because too much black is boring, but I'll see how much I like black visors once I get them in hand. Not changing the yellow visors though, those are too cool B-) Also going to add little yellow Blacktron symbols to some of them (like the Commando shoulder), and I got some pants with pouches/kneepads printed on them so they aren't so bland. I'm gonna suck it up and just get the torsos, who needs to eat anyway, right! EDIT: Hurrah! I found a seller in Germany who had them for about 1.30 a piece, not bad. Even after the very reasonable shipping, it cost less than the U.S. seller, and I even got some extra pieces to help finish my Commando Starfighter and Superbird. Now to look for maybe 4 or 5 of the CMF Blacktron torso. Edited April 21, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
slacker int Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Loving the idea of building out a Blacktron army! - This is looking good, very original, yet still Blacktron Looks live you've found some torso's... maybe for the next wave of troops this decal could come in handy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21805674@N04/4585254141/ Quote
DraikNova Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) I'd suggest replacing the current robot with a hardsuit of some kind. Can't wait to see this in the brick ("in the ABS" sounds weird ). Oh, and you could use the CMF space villain torso if you're having trouble getting Rench torsos cheap. It's more detailed actually. Edited April 22, 2013 by DraikNova Quote

Yep, those look handy, but I'd redo them at a higher resolution because I can't stand jagged edges haha. Then I'd have to find a place to get them printed in good quality... probably cheaper to just buy the torsos. I like this one, basically the same torso with the "B" replaced by the yellow Blacktron logo - http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ I'll probably scrub off the "B" from the torsos I got and find a way to neatly stamp the yellow logo on them. I'd suggest replacing the current robot with a hardsuit of some kind. Can't wait to see this in the brick ("in the ABS" sounds weird ). Would be neat to make a hardsuit, but that's hard to do in LDD, it would look kinda "stiff". I'll try anyway though. (and maybe finally get that "LDD Builder" tag since like 95% of my builds are with LDD ) Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Here's a quick look at the Commando, I'll take better pictures when I get more of these guys done. Who knows when the torsos will arrive from Germany though -Handpainted an Alien Trooper chest piece. Lightly sanded it to get rid of the printing (otherwise the outline shows up) and to let the paint adhere better. I only have Flat Black on hand but I'll give it a quick coat of Gloss Black when I get more paint. Going to paint the round things silver. Edited April 23, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Thankssssss! Here's a quick concept for a troop transport, or general transport really. Holds driver and 3 soldiers with weapons (on their laps lol). Rear hatch opens I think it looks better without the two front fins. Edited April 23, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
DraikNova Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 The Commando looks pretty good and that troop carrier, well...It's very Blacktron-looking (especially without the first set of fins), but it just doesn't really look like a troop carrier. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 (edited) Yep, I thought it would be harder to paint LEGO pieces but it's pretty easy once you sand them a little, just to get rid of the slickness. And I don't know what futuristic troop carrier is supposed to look like, but if you do send me some pictures and I'll try to make it lol Edited April 23, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Here's a quick idea for a hard suit. All weapons are adjustable. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) Sudden advances in Blacktron's R&D have led to a new sleeker more mobile hardsuit! Those poor Space Police don't stand a chance! I really like these, will definitely build a few. Sometimes forcing yourself not to sleep until you get a good idea pays off rofl The left one is for troops to use, the right one is a robot mainly used for heavy labor. Devorath Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) ^ Everything since my last post here is amazing. The troop carrier is nice, while not looking like a troop carrier. The hard suits are ok, but the fact they cannot fit an actual minifigure is a bit :( Very nice on the whole though! Edited April 26, 2013 by Devorath Quote
DraikNova Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Those hardsuits are amazing. For combat the first is definitely the best, for smuggling the second one. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 An update of sorts The black shoulder pieces, look like they're called battle droid bodies, are unreasonably expensive. I suspect they're expensive simply because they're called battle droid pieces and because all the cool kids want black. Meh. Going to buy tan versions at like 20 cents a piece and just paint them black. The legs don't exist in black so those are getting painted too, pretty good at 10 cents a piece. Luckily Black is very easy to color match. blackblackblack lol At least the weird inverted bracket is easy to get... but not in black lol. Light bley looks good though. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Got the torsos! I really like the d.bley gloves, don't think I'm going to change them (also, I'm not paying 20 cents per hand to replace them). A little photoshop magic and you can see how they're going to look with black helmets (they were blue). I have more pants with pouches but I have to remove the colored stripe. I'll take more pics once I've dyed all the gear black. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Well, they're looking good already (the ones that don't need further painting, anyway). Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Pretty happy with the results, more about the dye in this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82069 Edited May 9, 2013 by Henchmen4Hire Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Classic Blacktron I was always one of my favorite Space themes, and you've done righteously by it, I'd say! I especially like the fact that you decided to use the Blacktron I color scheme for the vehicles. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) It's looking pretty great. The touch of purple looks pretty good. BTW, I've recently found another absolute gem for Blacktron MOCcing: the CMF paintball guy. The paintball gun works great as a raygun and the helmet is pretty darn perfect.
