1gor Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) I have some pictures of my progress for you guys. Hi Balrog, since you're from Germany I suggest you to look at www.trac-technik.de and ask Hartmut; he is walking encyclopedia for MBTrac. My MBTrac is not finished because portal axes are not stiff enough (see the link http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=491658). The reason why I reply you is to give you only two suggestions (everything else is really good; proportions, square look typical for era when MBTrac was developed) - portal axhses and - lime color Keep with good work Regards Igor Edited October 30, 2013 by Blakbird : Trimmed long quote with many images. My initial goal was to make a version of arthra08's MB Trac with power functions. The steering and axles are his original design. I was trying to improve the front axle, but every combination I came up with wasn't stable enough. I even purchased some rare and expensive LA connectors to achieve this, but the only "good solution" was to widen the wheelbase which was against the proportions of the tractor. I though about portal axles, too. But that would have made it a lot more complicated and I doubt I could have come up with a good solution. Tinkering around with portal axles on such a narrow wheelbase seems very unrealistic to me anyway. If we had bigger wheels, we could simply scale up the whole thing and make it work. Perhaps with the PP wheels. Could be worth a try. I also thought about making a lime green version. That would be a lot more authentic. But at that time I didn't have the parts nor the ambitions to order all needed beams and connectors through BL. Even today, I am not sure if the needed parts are all available in lime green. And, currently the MB Trac isn't even assembled anyway, so I am not really eager to try and improve it more. Quote
N-4K0 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A lime green version would have been awesome to see Quote

Currently I managed to make portal axle with 15 studs track width and with lime green container as wheel (same thing like on my deere 7230R, but with lime green container 9x9x1). My only problem is portal axle housing because Lego creation does not allow gears to be placed inside of wheel where it belongs. for lime parts - I think I have enough of them including dark green 1x9 bent liftarms for mudguards. as user Error404 said it will be awsome to see it in lime green color link for deere 7230R http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5967533 links for parts that are used on front wheel http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=54120 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32197 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=47676&colorID=34&in=A I hope to make some advanced prototypes by end of year, but I can not promise that, espacially if I want that mbtrac fits to scale of my other tractors.
