Endgame Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 So this is the BO (Just added Nagure's second turn): Battle Order: (and suggested actions) Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Candy (Front Row) Nagure (Stone Hammer) vs. Candy (Front Row) >Arthur (Scroll of Frailty) vs. Candy (Back Row) >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Candy (Back Row) >Arthur (Unlucky Horseshoe) vs. Candy (Back Row) OR (Ice, Sir Roderick's Sword) vs. Candy (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mockthril Longbow) vs. Candy (Back Row) >Sorrow (Mochthril Longbow) vs. Candy (Back Row) As Violetta crumples to the ground in pain and shock, I stare down the two cats. Easy pickings. "Knew I should've shot that cat in the first place..." I mumble. I follow the plan. If we somehow don't decimate both casts here, we can auto-run.
Professor Flitwick Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Thothwick nodded in the general direction of Lord Boomingham, and lunged an attack from the back row to where he believed he could smell Lupus from. "Thank goodness I still have my sense of smell. How these humans do without is beyond me. How can they sample a good wine?"
Pandora Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Nyx giggles as Boomingham addresses her. "Lord Boomingham" she says attempting to be serious but still giggling "it would be my utmost honour to dance with such a dashing gentleman as yourself" she bows deeply, winks at Boomingham, and turns in the general direction of Steerpike, once more charging a Darkness spell at him from the back row. "Oh, and if it helps, I can belt Thothy with my Healing Staff next round. It'll free you up to keep at Steerpike, and I've pretty much got the accidentally-setting-people-on-fire bit under control now. "
Sandy Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 QM Note: There's no sense for Thothwick to attack from the back row, since the Guardian Angel protects him from everything, so I made him attack from the front instead so that this battle could perhaps end one day. Endgame Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Arthur slays the two kittens, ending the battle. "Not so cute anymore, are they, Arthur?" I was in a cynical mood after the brawl - the two generals were defeated nigh effortlessly, but the night had proven to be long and stressful. Reaching into my coin purse I pull out a handful of 250 gold, throwing it into the pile. "For the Catsuit. I'll throw in the Shackles too, as soon as the generals are promptly dealt with." I walk over to the unconscious generals, looking over their crumpled bodies. The fur recedes and their human features return, their head garments ripped to shreds by their violent transformation. Suddenly, I stop dead in my tracks, cutting off the breath I was drawing in. My entire body goes numb as I look at Violetta's unaltered face... I drop to one knee, looking over her body - covered in blood, arrows and cuts plastered all over her. Wounds I had left, arrows I had mercilessly pumped into her. i knew she wasn't her, but... the resemblance... "Oh... Oh Helvetia... What have I...?! She looks... she looks just like... her... Sarah... Sarah...!" I can't bear looking at her any longer, making retching sounds. With weak legs I walk over to the wall, pressing my head against the wall. I have to use my arms to keep myself stable, my entire body convulsing... "It isn't her, it isn't her, it isn't her... it isn't my Sarah..." I feebly try to recompose myself, but to no avail. I had struck down a woman who looked exactly like my fiance. When I needed her the most... Hope you don't mind this, Sandy! Violetta is basically a dead ringer for Sorrow's late fiance... and he isn't taking too kindly to that, having just mowed her down.
Pandora Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 "Thothy!" Nyx gasps woefully as she watches her dear friend fall. She whirls her head round to glare at Steerpike, hair blazing behind her as her eyes pierce him. "You!" she rasps "You will pay for this!" She pants heavily, controlling herself and turns to Boomingham. "Larry, I think it's now probably best for you to tango with this worm, while I'll try my Healing Staff on myself."

"Sorrow...are you all right? Ah...listen. I know this is hard, but... I need you to go Track Down Captain Patricia and tell her what's going on, bring her back with you if you can. I need to make my own report to her in person, but I can't afford to leave my post." With a feeling of foreboding, Arthur tries to think of someone he knows is dead, but does not know where the body is. Coming up with a memory, he checks his Magic Compass for the location of Lord Leorry before checking it for the locations of Grimwald Gjinko, Kiray Nastay, Arnulf Bishop, Yamsar the chef, Bilbert Wigglepike, Lord Lawrence Boomingham, Lady Nyx, Sir Thothwick, Barbariccia Dellamore, and Steerpike the Poisoner, waiting with increasing dread for the results... OOC: He's checking so he can know what the compass does in reaction to searching for a dead person.
Costy Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I toss the sticky gloves to Arthur. "So I guess I'll stay here and guard the prisoners while Sorrow gets Patrica?" I look around the alley.
Zepher Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 OoC: Hate to do this to you, Sandy... but if he's beast/humanoid, I should have a x2 multiplier onto ALL of my attacks since he's gone Werewolf. Just kidding, looks like you accounted for it, thank you! Boomingham watches as the brave Black Knight falls. "I'm sorry, Nyx." He says. He raises his sword bravely. "In the event that he gets me with this poison of his, whack me with your healing staff and hold me in front of you. The attack should wake me up - be it from him or you, and hopefully that staff of your's will help me survive the poison." Boomingham steps in front of Thothwick and Nyx. "Let's end this, old man. I'm tired." OoC: Basically, if by chance I fall asleep, attack me with your healing staff and also put me first in the battle order to soak up the free hit.
Flipz Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I toss the sticky gloves to Arthur. "So I guess I'll stay here and guard the prisoners while Sorrow gets Patrica?" I look around the alley. "You won't be alone." "You know, I've never properly thanked you for your service here tonight. You are a steadfast soldier and an honorable man--er, yeti. It has been an honor to have you serve at my side, Nagure." Arthur glances through the window into the hallway, to check on the guard.
Endgame Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I slouch down, head still leaning in the wall. Tears begin to pool up in my dead sockets, droplets of water silently trickling down my skeletal face. "I... can't go, Arthur. Besides, I'm the only one who could put the wolves down if they get back up. How would you two handle them?" I look at the beaten Violetta. "Why...why must she look like her..."
Endgame Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 "This... is quite pathetic, isn't it?" My body is still quivering, my eyes refusing to avert their gaze from the wall to look at Violetta. "Don't make the same mistakes I have made, Arthur. I am a prisoner of my past, a victim of my own memories. I can mow down as many villains as I like... but in the end, I am still weak. There's no place for someone like me on Olegaia anymore, I fear..." I give a soft chuckle. "I am the man who shall not see the legacy he had left... if he ever had one at all."

"Too late...I am the man who should not see the legacy he will leave...but shall anyway." Arthur bows his head, and as he does his journal clatters out onto the street. He quickly picks it up, and sees a new letter from De'kra. De'kra, It is funny you speak of the Wolfgang. We have just now defeated two of its generals, and a third is inside the Theatre, threatening the wealthy of Eubric. They...they claim to have Eubric's best at heart, to bring relief to the poor and oppressed, but their methods...their methods are vile. They wish to slaughter or enslave the wealthy, instead of using peace and diplomacy to solve problems. They have no qualms with killing innocents to get what they want, for they consider the privileged to be guilty just because they are fortunate. And they seek to break the Unity of Eubric--and Heroica. De'kra, this is important. Who are the Veterans? They spoke of the riot you fought in the Hovels...they claim responsibility for it, and that Heroica's use of force in putting it down is an example of why they are better than us. The Wolfgang will cause more disaster...because they have a Veteran on their side. We have to find out who this Veteran is, De'kra. We have to lead them back to the light. That's the other thing, De'kra. Not all of these people are evil. The generals we just fought, they think they are doing good, they think they are doing what's right for Eubric. But they aren't. But we HAVE to give them a chance to do better. The rank and file...and their leader, Ulric...they are the evil ones. Those caught in the middle--too weak to oppose the Wolfgang, but too strong to completely lose their morals to it--they have to be saved. I hope this helps, Brother. I urge you to reply quickly--we may not get another chance to cripple the Wolfgang so thoroughly as we will tonight. I'd like to make that victory as great as we possibly can. --Arthur "Sorrow...we have to stay strong. We have a Duty to fulfill. We can't let ourselves be caught off-guard, we must do our Duty always--even in our moments of weakness. Private Gnash taught me that." Edited May 22, 2013 by Flipz

Arthur feels a faint pulse on both Donny and Violetta, but their wounds are lethal. They would die soon if nothing is done. The compass does not react to any Lord Leorry, but on every other name the arrow turns south towards the Theater. Arthur glances through the window into the hallway, to check on the guard. The door at the end of the hallway is open, and the body of Private Gladstone is sprawled on the floor. Arthur cannot see his condition from this distance, though. I look around the alley. Nagure glances left and right, and then spots a group of watchmen approaching from the east, lead by none other than Captain Patricia herself. "Private Regulus, we got your strange magic letters, but didn't know how to answer them. Report immediately!" The captain's eyes widen as she sees the Wolfgang generals lying on the ground.
