Endgame Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I get up, my legs still somehwat trembling. My breathing seems heavy and quick, but I soon get it under control. With a few deep breaths I pull myself together, my mind still trying to seperate Violetta and my beloved. They looked identical, almost... With a quick shake of my head I banish the last thought, focussing on the task at hand. I address Arthur, though it is also aimed at everybody: "You have too much sympathy for the devil, Arthur. Where has it gotten you before? You said it yourself, Arthur. They're being deceived, their ideals replaced with a madman's and their minds deluded into thinking what they're doing is right. They're just puppets, Arthur. Pawns. And their plan here, and always, is always going to be the same. "Destroy the Houses!" "Save Eubric!" They're not worth saving, even for information." I look down on the crumpled corpses, averting my gaze from Violetta. "To imprison them would only make the Town Watch jail a huge target. To let them go would only throw Eubric into greater turmoil. Kill them."
Costy Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 "If it was my choice, I would say we should kill them now, they are dying anyway, but it is not our choice to make. It is the job of the Town Watch."

And to murder those bound helplessly to those puppet strings...we would be no better than they. Isn't that what the Houses are, after all? Puppets, helplessly dancing on the strings of tradition, of wealth, of family pride...dancing, but unaware of the strings that control their every movement. The Wolfgang seeks to destroy them for that. Shouldn't we be better than they?" Arthur clenches his Scroll of Sleep behind his back, invisible to all but himself. If the Wolfgang leaders would not talk, he would at least grant them a peaceful death. And if they couldn't talk... "If I don't get a response from them within a minute, I'll give them each a Potion, bind them, and the guards can carry them with us. Captain Patricia gave me a second chance. I would be a hypocrite and a monster if I did not at least offer the same to them."

Pandora Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Nyx roars with fury as the Darkness bursts forward from her fingertips and she twirls, savagely striking Steerpike with her Standard, the ferocious force almost knocking him off his feet. "Larry my dearest, take this time to lick your wounds and I shall once more attack this abomination. You may still be needed to attack." Nyx once more adopts her battle stance in the back row, preparing another Darkness spell for Steerpike, still gripping her Standard tightly.
Zepher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Boomingham holds his sword out proudly. "Any final words, Steerpike? Witch, we're coming for you next. Nyx, my dearest, you may do the honors. The captain gives him a pitying look, and then takes the rapier from Lieutenant Serevan's hands. "These two are enemies of Eubric and its citizens, and both have been a pain in my megablocks for far too long." In quick succession, Patricia mercilessly stings both Donny and Violetta through the heart with the sword. The pickpocket says nothing as he dies, but Violetta lets out a single word as her last. "Karie..." Then she's gone as well. "Let's go take care of Steerpike, now. If we get him as well, this will become the best night I've had in a long, long while. Men, break down that door." The watchmen obey, but try as they might, they cannot knock down the backdoor to the Theater.

But the witch had another distraction up her sleeve... "Children of Eubric, look upon one another! See the faces of the enemies who are keeping you from reaching the light! You alone are chosen by the Wolfheaded Messiah! You alone are good enough to stand by his throne in New Eubric! Make the traitors and heretics suffer!" Much to their horror, the three heroes saw the crowd blink, turn to look each other in puzzlement, then an unnatural wrath lighting up in their eyes, resulting in a chaotic mass brawl. The Ziegfried brothers were at each other's throats. Count Shadeaux punched Heinrich Hinckwell in the face. Lee Long jumped onto a table and kicked Admiral Bonaparte in the chest. Umbra and Bellanotte tag-teamed on Beth Ziegfried. Lorcan Hinckwell jumped on Nuitan Shadeaux, and Lyren hit his brother with a goblet to defend his friend. Madame Ladybug slapped Laureline Hinckwell just as Guffington's assistant raised a chair to strike both ladies. Dr. Cula bit Madame Morrible on the neck and sucked her blood. Captain Mumbasa jumped down from the balcony and landed on all fours, growling dreadfully. Above all this, Barbariccia just laughed.
Zepher Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Boomingham heals everyone to perfect health as he yells orders. "Nyx, you're on damage control. Freeze anyone that you can in their place. Thothwick, glad to see you're alive. Make your way across the room and get to the Kitchen. See if those heroes are alive, and bring them back in here as quickly as possible. Use force if necessary." Boomingham tosses his scroll of sealing over to Nyx before reading his scroll of sleep, aiming the words as Umbra, Bellanotte, Dr. Cula, Zelda and Mumbassa. He then plunges his frozen sabre into Steerpike's chest to ensure he is dead, and jumps up on stage. "Witch! Hear me! What do you hope to accomplish by this? These are the leaders of this city. You are powerful, you have made that clear. But what is your goal. Those with power have a responsibility to protect and nurture those weaker than them. As you are more powerful than any of us in this room, you have a responsibility to all of us. You are failing that responsibility. Answer me, woman." Boomingham raises his sword, ready to strike the singer.
Pandora Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Nyx looks around aghast, and necks a Mead as she does so. She catches the Scroll of Sealing deftly, and as she pockets it she draws out her Opal. "Hell's teeth, I haven't seen a good fight like this since the last time I visited the taverns at the docks" she looks around; fortunately nobody actually heard her. She closes her eyes and focuses her ice magic to freeze each of the leaders of each house. That done, she marches into the crowd and forcibly separates any brawling couples - the fire in her Battle Mage eyes as she glares at each hopefully deterring any further infractions. Anyone who resists gets either a sharp slap on the cheek (not so much as to damage them), or a surprising kiss (if they're good looking enough to warrant it). Anything to stop them in their tracks and break the spell.

Sandy Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 QM Note: Sorry, Zepher, but I just can't allow you to do all these things at once. Frying these bodies would probably be a good idea..." I contemplate what had just happened, making a spur-of-the-moment decision to dab up some of Violetta's blood with some spare cloak cloth.
