Shoker86 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "Oh, I see, good thinking Kiray, I forgot about ol' chef Yasmar" Then he aproached Arthur "Is, Barbariccia being from another plane of existence master Arthur? She's obvioslly very potent in magic. How can you track otherwordly creatures "
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "That, my good man, would be a question for the Zeigfrieds. They have always been the most talented at magic of that scale."
Sandy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 QM Note: Zepher, you forgot the spoil division again... Boomingham stares each of the House's heads in the eyes. "My lords and ladies, I will give you a command now. I have no authority to do so other than my own conviction, but I am doing it just the same. The songstress, while she had you under her spell, demanded that you seek the cracks in your relationships. She breathed the breath of hatred into you. You must not fall to it. Power is not one person doing one impressive thing. Power is a group of powerful people striving for a common goal. I fought in the Orcish War. I can tell you that no one group won that war. The Paladins alone did not, nor did the High Kingdoms. We all played our part. We were powerful together. Even the veterans did nothing alone. Six survived, but many died. Those who died - we may not know their names, but we owe them our freedom just the same." The leaders look incredulous. Admiral Bonaparte leans to his wife. "What the hell is that man speaking about? He's obviously out of his mind... The Orcish War was fought 250 years ago!" "I am already filled with rage towards the murderers of my son. Hatred is a powerful weapon..." "Ha, my ears and heart are open only to the songs of my lovely wife! I'm not that easily swayed by the chants of some wench!" "She's here, Ms. Ziegfried. The one we all fear, she's here, in Eubric. Baba, of the Kalakita Bog. She was Barbariccia, and she tried to set you all upon eachother. And nearly succeeded. Surely now, more than ever, you can see what a threat her ilk pose to our society?" Zelda Ziegfried raises an eyebrow. "Her ilk? Do you speak of spellcasters? I'd advice you to watch your tongue, if that's the case! Magic can be used for evil, but much good has been done with it as well. But we do have a score to settle with that woman, so you can count that Ziegfrieds will do their part in the war against Wolfgang." "If we do our Duty in Unity, we can achieve a prosperous Destiny for all. And I think we all want that." "Unity? Are you thaying ve thhould work together with mageth vho don't rethpect even the motht bathic ruleth ov nature?! Ithn't magic the biggetht reathon thith evening turned into a total dithathter in the virst plathe?" "Speak for yourself, Doctor Cula. Isn't that blood dripping from your fangs...?" "Gah!!!" "Sometimes the young possess wisdom beyond that of even the eldest and wisest Elves. From what I have heard, your children possess such wisdom. Use it well." "My boys are both still wet behind their ears. They know nothing of this world!" "My beautiful enfants... Zey may be sweet and cleveur, but I am still ze 'ead of ze 'ouse, and will be four many years tu come!" "Long prosper the Shadeaux House, huh? Don't make me laugh! The moment that witch gave you permission, you were onto me like a direwolf! So much for unity..." "Sacre chauve-souris, 'ow dare you?! I was undeur a devilish curse and you know it!" "Haven't you always bragged that a Shadeaux never misses an opportunity when he sees one, Noctus?" "You insolent, boasting...!!!" "That's enough, gentlemen! Take it outside!" Captain Patricia and Bilbert Wigglepike escort the merchant tycoons outside, where their families are waiting for them. "Inutile de dire, Monsieur 'Inckwell, ze engagement is off!" "My son will find someone much better than your sickly ghost of a daughter!" "Father, don't speak about her like that!" "Père..." "Zat is enough insults four zis night. Allons-y!" The Shadeaux take off in their black carriage as the Hinckwells return uphill to their villa. One by one, the other families depart as well until only the Ziegfrieds remain. Mabel Ziegfried approaches Thothwick. "Excuse me, Sir Thothwick. If that songstress was really Baba, could that mean that Bluto is somewhere in Eubric as well?" What will Thothwick reply?
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 As everyone exits the theatre, Arthur remembers something. He stoops to pick up the envelope that fell to the ground when the dinosaurs appeared.
Professor Flitwick Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "Best not to let her know I saw him. She would be livid to know he slipped our grasp again." Thothwick extended his arms, and firmly grasped Mabels hand. "I am one hundred percent certain he is here, Ms. Ziegfried. She as good as told me. And believe me, I shall do everything I possible can to retrieve him. S.O.Ws shall not cease, until he is safely return. Speaking of S.O.W, I don't suppose you've thought about joining us?"
Zepher Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Boomingham watches sadly as the Heads of the Houses begin to exit the Theatre. He pats Nyx on the back. "Some folks can't change their ways, I suppose," he says sadly. "Too short of a life time," Barty explains. Boomingham approaches instead the one person he has continued faith in. He does not wear his normal pomp or bravado, just his weary shoulders and eyes. "Captain Patricia, it has been a pleasure serving with you tonight. I have no doubt that you have the good of the people in your heart. That is the most I or anyone can ask of anyone."
Sandy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 As everyone exits the theatre, Arthur remembers something. He stoops to pick up the envelope that fell to the ground when the dinosaurs appeared. Arthur picks up the letter and opens it. Inside is a short letter. TO THOTHWICK AND OTHER HEROES HELP ME! THE WITCH BABA HOLDS ME AS HER SLAVE. SHE HAS TAKEN MY YOUTH AND MY VOICE AND FORBIDDEN ME TO ESCAPE OR GO CLOSE TO MY FAMILY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I HOPE THE WAX I GAVE YOU WAS ENOUGH TO RESIST BABA'S SPELL. COME FIND ME FROM THE WOLF'S DEN AND KILL BABA. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY I WILL BE FREE AGAIN. BLUTO ZIEGFRIED PS. TELL MOTHER AND FATHER I'M ALIVE. I MISS THEM SO MUCH. EVEN LILLY. "I am one hundred percent certain he is here, Ms. Ziegfried. She as good as told me. And believe me, I shall do everything I possible can to retrieve him. S.O.Ws shall not cease, until he is safely return. Speaking of S.O.W, I don't suppose you've thought about joining us?" Mabel smiles to Thothwick. "Yes, Sir Thothwick, I will join your gathering, if only to see my little boy again. And you can consider yourself a true friend of the Ziegfrieds." Thothwick's reputation among the Ziegfrieds increases.
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Arthur claps a hand over his mouth. "Sir Thothwick...! Oh. I apologize, I did not realize you were...well, good. Perhaps you both ought to see this...I saw it fall as Baba slipped through the portal. Captain Patricia! You'll want to see this as well." Arthur shows the letter first to Thothwick, then to Captain Patricia, and finally to Mabel Zeigfried. "I doubt this will work, but..." Arthur holds his Magic Compass out in front of all of them and uses it to try to locate Bluto Zeigfried.
Sandy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Boomingham sighs and wipes his forehead. He turns to the Golum. "Now, may I please have a drink?" When all the guests are gone, the golem maitre d' serves everyone some wine. "This is the least I can do. You saved us. You might have even saved Eubric. It remains to be seen." Phoebe, the sole surviving waiter is drying her tears as she walks to the heroes. "Gosh, I'm so grateful! Who would have taken care of my pooch Glitter if I would have died? She would've starved, poor thang..." A heavy sigh sounds behind the heroes. Master Chef Yasmar slumps to sit on a table, looking weary. "My whole megablocking career is over... Nobody willI want to go anywhere near my cooking after tonight, since who knows when it'll turn into another bloody demon and kill everyone in the room... I guess I'll return to Baltarok to cook for the tribal chieftains, then. megabluck it all." "Captain Patricia, it has been a pleasure serving with you tonight. I have no doubt that you have the good of the people in your heart. That is the most I or anyone can ask of anyone." "You sound as if you doubted my conviction, Lord Boomingham. But thank you, anyway. Please gather everyone to the doors, I'd like to have a word with all of you." Arthur shows the letter first to Thothwick, then to Captain Patricia, and finally to Mabel Zeigfried. "I doubt this will work, but..." Arthur holds his Magic Compass out in front of all of them and uses it to try to locate Bluto Zeigfried. QM Note: One action at a time, please... Arthur's compass does not respond to Bluto's name, just spins around without stopping.
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) Arthur sighs. "It is the attempt that matters. Madam Zeigfried, I swear to you, if by my life or death I can bring back your son, I will do it. We all need to find the Wolf's Den, and to kill the Wolfgang leaders within. This letter makes that all the more urgent. I gladly offer you the aid of my powers, such as they are, against Baba." Arthur shows Mabel the letter. Edited May 31, 2013 by Flipz
Zepher Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 "As you wish." Boomingham gulps down his wine before calling out to the heroes. "Chaps, ladies, to me. The Captain is going to share a word with us."
Sandy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Arthur shows Mabel the letter. Mabel gasps as she reads the letter. "What does this mean? She has stolen Bluto's youth? Oh, my precious little boy..." The shocked Mabel returns to her family with the letter. The family of wizards leave as well.
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Saddened, Arthur heeds Boomingham's call and moves to his side. OOC: Going to be gone for several hours, see you all later!
Professor Flitwick Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Tired, Thothwick turns to Arthur. "This will get worse, before it gets better, Mr. Regulus. Come, let us join the Captain."
Shoker86 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) "Ah, power games. Never changes " Arnulf stoped for a moment to eat Apple and then follows other heroes Edited May 31, 2013 by Shoker86
Pandora Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Nyx listens to the heads of the houses, wanting to say something, but just not being able to. The guests begin to disperse, and she feels Boomingham's hand on her back. She looks round and sees how tired the man looks, so she pats him tenderly on his back too in camaraderie. She gratefully accepts the wine, drinking deeply, wishing she'd had the opportunity to speak to the Ziegfrieds. Phoebe, the sole surviving waiter is drying her tears as she walks to the heroes. "Gosh, I'm so grateful! Who would have taken care of my pooch Glitter if I would have died? She would've starved, poor thang..." Nyx smiles wearily as she sees Phoebe's friendly face. "I'm glad you're ok, Phoebe, it must have been a traumatic night for you. I'm sure your pooch will be just fine, and maybe Master Chef Yasmar will let you take some gourmet tidbits home for a treat for ... Glitter." "My whole megablocking career is over... Nobody willI want to go anywhere near my cooking after tonight, since who knows when it'll turn into another bloody demon and kill everyone in the room... I guess I'll return to Baltarok to cook for the tribal chieftains, then. megabluck it all." Nyx turns to the Chef, unfazed by his size. "I really doubt anyone can blame the demonic food on you, and it's not like your food killed any of the guests, it was the poor unfortunates in the kitchen that suffered the most. The highfalutin' Houses probably don't even know there was any sort of problem with the food, so your reputation's probably intact, plus it probably strengthens your reputation that it's hell to work in your kitchen." "You sound as if you doubted my conviction, Lord Boomingham. But thank you, anyway. Please gather everyone to the doors, I'd like to have a word with all of you." Nyx moves with the others to listen to what Captain Patricia has to say, wondering if there'll be an opportunity to go and help young Bluto.
Sandy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 QM Note: Still no loot division... I gave all the Chaotic Bombs to Boomingham, so they can be divided from his inventory, as it's time to wrap up the quest now. The heroes gather at the entrance of the Theater, where Captain Patricia and Bilbert Wigglepike address them. "So the curtain closes... Little did I know this night would end with a black eye." "You'll live, Mr. Wigglepike. Champions of Heroica, for once you have made me glad to have called your organization for help. I now have the bodies of three Wolfgang leaders. If this doesn't set Ulric back, I don't know what will. Barbariccia Dellamore is still at large, but only time will tell what kind of a threat she poses to this city. But you nine have done a great service tonight - well, some more so than others - but all in all, I'll name you all heroes who are actually worth something. Color me surprised." The captain's praises make the heroes feel elevated, having experienced something few others before them have. "If that's all, you're dismissed." How noble of you." The gigantic direwolf that Ulric lies on growls threateningly. "DO NOT MOCK THE MASTER!!!" "Easy, Garmr. The woman is our friend... for the time being." "I'm always yours, as I promised." "That remains to be seen, Barbie-dear. With Violetta gone, my bed needs a new warmer... Now, where were we, Mr. Gaunt?" "The laaaaw agaaainst discriminaaation, Maaaster. Claaause Seeeven." Barbariccia's amber eyes flash nastily as she leaves the room. Only her servant sees this, but he has already seen much of the evil that's inside the beautiful body. QM Note: Thank you for participating! Hope you had as much fun as I did in this very plot-heavy quest! You can still talk to the NPCs at the Theater if you wish, otherwise you are free to return to the Hall.
Shoker86 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Arnulf adressed Kiray and Grimwald "Great job you two, you were great team. I was honoured to fight beside you." Then he adressed captain Patricia "Thank you for your words captain, I'm glad to see that not all City Watchmen are corrupted. I've stumbled across couple of those, but in my name I have to say it was an honour serving with good City Watchmen, and that I'm at your disposal"
Endgame Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I take a sip of the wine handed to me, savoring its taste. Heroica could never afford brews this expensive... especially at the rate some heroes chugged their beverages. "Thank you, Patricia." I say nodding to the captain. I turn and address my quest mates, glancing downwards at the bloody cloth. "I have... errands of my own to attend to. Good to quest with you all. Cold drinks at Heroica, perhaps?" And with that, I exit through the giant oak doors, wondering what verdict was soon to be handed down to me... Bravo - Excellent quest, Sandy!

Professor Flitwick Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Thothwick bowed to his Quest-givers. "All due respect, Mr. Wigglepike, I believe we've done enough here tonight." Thothwick rotated to face Lawerence. "I believe I heard mention of a 'Flaming Gumball'? I'd quite enjoy sampling this beverage..."
Pandora Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Nyx bows gracefully at Patricia and Bert, with a slight smile. "Nice to see you yet again Captain, glad you're a little happier this time. Mr Wigglepike, it was just lovely to meet you." At Thothwick's mention of her favourite drink she turns to him excitedly. "Thothy, you'd just adore it, it's a wonderful drink, even more so if you get it to flame. I'll light yours for you if you'd like?!" She turns to the other members of the group. "It really was such good fun questing with you all" she looks specifically at one fellow questmate "even you Arthur. " She gives Arthur a small smile; she didn't fully trust him, but he'd gone to some lengths to change the person he was, and she respected that. "I look forward to drinking with you all in the Hall." Nyx lingers a little longer, wondering if she'll yet hear from Phoebe or Yasmar, but also watching Larry closely; the fight had worn him down but his spirits still seemed to be high. She just wanted to make sure he was ok.
Flipz Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Arthur gives a salute to Captain Patricia, and returns Nyx's smile. But as soon as he was out of sight his face fell. Thothwick was right. Things would continue to get worse, and Heroes could do nothing to stop it. Patricia's words, while well-meaning, rang false. He was no Hero, he was not worth anything. He was nothing. And nothing could change that. Arthur found himself walking past the blood-stained alley, a bevy of guards working to render the scene somewhat presentable and to repair the damage his spell had wrought upon the door. As he turned to walk away, he felt his foot step on something soft. A mask, flung from its owner's head as she had been brought down. Violetta's. He picks up the scrap of cloth, and remembers her final word. "Karie..." He tucks the worn cloth into his belt and continues walking. If he could do nothing else, he could at least discover the truth, before the city came crashing down behind him. He would stop by the Barracks for some hard-earned rest and a thorough debriefing, and then... It was time to return to the Hall. OOC: Awesome Quest, Sandy! Can't wait for the next one!
Zepher Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Boomingham watches as Sorrow and Arthur quickly breezes out of the hall, catching sight of the cat suit as the undead goes. Boomingham catches them both by the arm as he walks out and slips them each one of the Choatic Bombs. "Good work, tonight," is all he says to Arthur. "And tell me what you wish to do with that suit, Sorrow. I think it would serve Nyx well. She's a hell of a fighter, the more flexible her outfit is, the better." Boomingham then turns to the newer heroes, and tosses them each a bomb as well. "You may return to the Hall. Arnulf, Kiray, Grimwald, you all did well. I am proud to have served with you." Boomingham also flings a bomb to his silent Yeti friend, giving him only a nod of thanks. Finally, the old Lord turns to Nyx and Thothwick. He hands Nyx 2 Chaotic Bombs, 40 Gold, and 4 Deadly Venoms. He hands Thothwick 1 Bomb, 40 Gold, and 5 Deadly Venoms. "Thothwick, my dearest Nyx, we survived the night. I could not have asked for more. Thothwick, if you need help tracking down that boy of your's, Bluto, Nyx and I will be there. Nyx, you know how thankful I am. Always. The three of us, and the rest of the Hall, we are beacons for the city. We must lead by example." Boomingham gives Thothwick a crushing hug. "If you'd be willing to give Nyx and I each one or two of those Essences for future encounters, I think we'd both be grateful, but that is your choice. Go home to your loved ones, Thothwick." Boomingham hugs Nyx as well, lifting her off the pavement. "Nyx, we will continue. Onward and upwards." Finally, Boomingham slinks over to the Captain. He bows to her and says in his simplest of voices, no flirtatious air in the slightest. "Thank you again, Captain. I hope that soon we may meet over drinks to discuss this city we've both grown to love. We are its defense. I'm glad I was able to prove my worth to you. It means something to me." With that, Boomingham sets off into the city, Barty zipping behind him. "You did good, Lawrence." "Thank you, Barty."
Professor Flitwick Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Thothwick, unaccustomed to being hugged, politely thanked Lord Boomingham. As per his suggestion, Thothwick reached into his pocket to divide the essences, but the Lord had departed before he could do so. "I'll find him in the Hall. I've work to do, for now." Thothwick walked up to Patricia. "Good evening, Captain. I didn't quite get the chance to say earlier, but I'd like to offer my condolences over the deaths of Captain Bennetton, and Private Gnash. I was there the night they died. Tragic. Alas, so preventable, if only... Witches are a growing epidemic. Their deaths can be traced to Witches, the events of tonight can be, too. We were lucky tonight, but might not be so lucky in the future. There was only one Witch. And that Witch, is now the Queen of the Wolfgang. They need to be stopped. I'll be frank, would you join S.O.W to remove them from our society, and restore some peace to Eubric?"
