Rogue Angel Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Wow. Epic is indeed the correct word to use. I am blown away by your story. I LOVE all the twists, and especially the enmity between all the guilds. I feel like this never gets portrayed normally. Marecroft Manor is perhaps my favorite of your builds Z, it is simply stunning. I love the throne room build as well (not to take anything away from the rest of your builds.) I also love the options you provide at the end of the story. This is the scale I was hoping to build on for this last challenge, but fell far short of. Amazing Finale! Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ice grandpa? Really? And I hate bow ties! Some great build filled with details, but what really stands out for me is the hand pattern on the floor. So well done! And for your story, one of the best. I can see you've put quite some effort in. Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Ice grandpa? Really? And I hate bow ties! Well must mean de Gothia and your daughter have an upcoming announcement and bow ties ROCK, so you should get on board! Though it was Avalonian centric to a degree, I wanted to go with something that included every guild that gave us somewhere to go afterwards, I'm glad you appreciated it. Quote
Infernum Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Wow! Great work CZ! I love the rockwork on the first one! The trees are great and I love the wood part! The stone sections are very well done. The base is very well done. The build inside Marecroft is great! I love the windows! I really love the story! The "Hero Habitats" are great! Cool ideas and very well done! The Assault of Cedrica is amazing! I love the usage of power functions! The tornado elemental is SO cool. The shooting catapults are a great idea! I love it! I love how you incorporated all the guild's flags in the base. The Victor's Throne build is just perfect! I love the hand and the windows are cool! I really love the story with the 5th guild and the Dark Spire! Cool idea to give each of the guilds options! Amazing entry overall! Quote
Gideon Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Great entry, both story and builds! Taken one by one all of these builds are wonderful, but integrated like this it might be the single best overall Lego work I've ever seen! I'm really lost for words when it comes to your builds, so I'll just say "inspiring!" :) Such a privilege to be part of this great project. I think your entry opens up a lot of interesting possibilities for Book II should you win. Your description of the strife in Kaliphlin was a bit short, but that's probably a good thing so we Kaliphlins would be able to elaborate on that in the future. I also like the fact that there seems to be a good deal of Hand influence still around, leaving us with a suitable enemy for many great plots to come. Edit: Iphone typos... ZCerberus Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks for the comments guys! This was really a challenge to get this done. I wanted to do a "hero habitat" for rogueang and a forced perspective build as well, but I just didn't have the time. The forge build there was the last one I finished and I took it right before sun set on the last day! Your description of the strife in Kaliphlin was a bit short, but that's probably a good thing so we Kaliphlins would be able to elaborate on that in the future. I also like the fact that there seems to be a good deal of Hand intluence still around, leaving us with a suitable enemy for many great plots to come. I agree it could have been more developed, but that will come in time. I guess to a degree I felt Kalphlin had some "persian" type influences down in the desert, but my vision was to also bring in some Egyptian type influences with mummies and pharoahs and the like with the new "Desert King" faction. More than anything I just wanted to give an avenue for the next chapter to be able to have each guild have some autonomy to write its own story for a while before a new chapter is opened. Quote
Erynlasgalen Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Not much I can add that hasn't already been said on this one! Breathtaking MOCs, You really went above and beyond on all the builds. Really love the rockwork in the first build, and the mosaics on the floor are gorgeous. Quote
Disco86 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 All of your builds and also the story are pure awesomeness ! Good Luck with this ! Quote
Silver.Smith Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I absolutely love each and every one of these builds, and I have to agree with Infernum I like the rock work of the first MOC the best! Quote
pif500 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Wow! Great mocs! The outdoor and indoor scenes are very cool, especially your first castle and the landscape all around Good luck for the challenge! Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Thank you guys. The challenge did absorb my life for a while, but it was great fun. Now let's get some freebuilds in! Quote
Garmadon Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) I had been planing on post on this for a long time, anyways, love it all (especially the story ) Excellent castle in the first build, and it is great to see so many extra builds The floor design in the third build is outstanding too. Rolli Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 The challenge did absorb my life for a while, but it was great fun. I guess that one is a huge understatement, isn't it? Nevertheless I'm going to honor that and your builds by dedicating time to a detailed comment. Marecroft Manor 'From a rocky ledge..' - what a beautiful start into this Challenge 6 entry with this manor. In my opinion this one is your best tudor style house / castle and the fact that it is build 'completely' in light grey makes it even better as the various textures make it still enjoyable. The steps on the right are just lovely. There are some minor things I don't like: In my opinion there should be more space on the right at the gate but I don't know the Challenge limitations if there were any. Furthermore mixing in the old dark gray bits in the rock work doesn't really work for me. Finally the water under the building appears to be too bright. (I had a look in flickr for more details) Marecroft’s Meeting Room Looks a bit too packed but the desk is done very nicely. I also like the tan bits not too much but the mosaic with olive, sand and dark green is very nice. Forest Watchtower of Circardia Simple and effective. I like the unusual top. The Forge Must be the first moc that uses the supports from the orc forge in a good way. The brick built columns complement the thing nicely. Looks very busy, I like it. Zakon's Secret Stash Compared to the original one you are are missing far too many mushrooms Nevertheless a lovely build with much character, very nice hut. Love the usage of the transclear dish from the TIE fighters as a mushroom! Hanging the lamp on one of the whips is another lovely detail. Siege of Cedrica To be honest, I like this one least. It is too busy and yet too empty. The walls are done in a nice style, I especially like the gate but everything in front of it looks kind of out of place. The rolling tower is nice, yes, but I guess there should be more soldiers to make it believable. I also don't like the editing on the picture with the dragon, too rough. Rellik's Last Patrol & Victor's Throne Very nice interior, wonderful flooring. For some strange reason I love the black gate as simple as it is. Love the statues on the outside. Same for the 'inside": Nice layout, even though I don't like the hand mosaic too much but I think that is due to the square shape the black background has. The different pieces of furniture are lovely! Civil War? Loved your story, Z, all along. But the best part has to be the open ending with the different factions. It is a very nice idea for the second chapter of GOH though I have no idea what I would do as I didn't take part in it for such a long time. Evilonia is very tempting but there are so many things I would like to do in Avalonia. Lets see what Chapter 2 brings and which Challenge 6 entry will write history. Awesome entry as usual, Z. I don't want to know where you're taking your inspiration from but: Hide it. Quote
Yooha Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 All the builds are brilliant and Marecroft Manor from the outside is my favourite. In the meeting room the dark tan(?) bricks look well with the grey walls, I would never imagined that. And the story is fascinating! Quote
Dr Rod Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Evilonia hey... Dr Rod was exiled from Avalonia many years ago... Feel free to drop by the Rakath Mountains and say hi Evilonians... Quote
