Hey Joe Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I had something akin to an epiphamy as to how we could get some cool new train stuff out of Billund. It's so obvious I'm surprised that no one's thought of it already. It is; The Friends Train! I thought that the engine might look something like this (in the Friends pink and purple colors): There are endless rolling stock possibilities: - additional identical engines & passenger cars - Boyfriend Observation Car (for scoping out guys along the right-of-way) - Boutique Cars (shoes, clothes, cosmetics would each have a seperate car) - Cafe Car (gluten and MSG free, naturally) - Beauty Salon Car - Horse Stable Car All cars would be available seperately. The Friends mini-dolls in these sets will be wearing overalls/work clothes. There could be a new girl named 'Butch'. There will be a large selection of trackside structures including; main and secondary stations, towers, engine sheds, turntables, etc. There will be a complete range of track, including competitively-priced, remote-controlled switches! There's one caveat however; the track will be pink! Ok, hope you got a laugh out of it, and that the Friends-lovers out there see my tongue-firmly-in-my-cheek. Joe Quote
JopieK Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 hehe, indeed a very nice idea ;) hope it includes sunglasses if the tracks will be pink :) Quote
PeteM Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 You may joke, but.... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71360 Quote
Ondra Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I think we will see new trains in 2014, because there is going to be 4 year gap between last trains. What are you expecting?Lego classic for passenger trains that means closed train unit or something like last lego TEE?And what for freight?Diesel or electric locomotive? I hope for passenger train some interesting colour like blue or yellow. And for freight some maintenance train. Quote
pacc Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 The passenger/freighter has had a very long shelf life, lego must introduce PF somehow but I wonder if they can push two sets to resalers given the long turnaround. I guess a locomotive plus passenger wagon and a multi-purpose service wagon, maybe a smaller filler - just to get PF motor and track on the market. But for a modern look they could make a two-car motorized passenger train as all trains this side of the century, still some extras to avoid the freighter this year. There are Historic (constitution), Rapid (horizon) and US freight (mersk) trains on the market, (not to mention the ghost train) And special sets from lego.com such as a winter village addition can probably give some variety to those in this forum that can pay, Lets hope that they try to keep as many current trains on the market in the future, then they have to find some exuse to add one in city or some other theme ( I suspect that there won't be another easy movie license in the near future ...) 1974 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Well, to ad fire to burning rumour, I'd like to ad that I have a few friends within TLG. In 2012 I got the message; " no trains", in 2013 ; "maybe, but not what you'd expect", 2014 ; "we don't know!" So, I don't know .. but it's not same as "no" Quote
peterab Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Well, to ad fire to burning rumour, I'd like to ad that I have a few friends within TLG. In 2012 I got the message; " no trains", in 2013 ; "maybe, but not what you'd expect", 2014 ; "we don't know!" So, I don't know .. but it's not same as "no" Well apart from the 2012 ghost train, they were right in 2012 (it didn't really count as a train IMHO), and in 2013 we got the HE and Constitution so not city trains, so right again from one view. "We don't know" could mean a) we don't know, b) we do know but are not allowed to talk about new sets. When I've talked to TLG employees they can say "There are no trains planned for 201x" if it's true, but they're not supposed to discuss upcoming sets. I guess we'll know for sure by about June next year. If trains are to be released, I'd guess they'll want them on the shelves for Christmas, so a second half release makes sense. Quote
JopieK Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 It is interesting that more and more 2014 sets are leaking and we don't have any other hints than the vague speculations like the one from 1974! Of course train sets are often released around the summer so... but indeed it has been a while since we have gotten any city sets. @PeteM: I can live with a pinkish train, but luckily that one has still bley tracks, pink would be quite another story :) Quote
nesquik Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Horizon Express won't be retiring until 31st Dec 2015, so don't expect any new Exclusives until then. A new City train set is coming next year, however. Quote

A new City train set is coming next year, however. That is good news for my wallet...however i would rather empty my wallet on a new exclusive train........ Horizon Express won't be retiring until 31st Dec 2015, so don't expect any new Exclusives until then. A new City train set is coming next year, however. Hope the 2014 City-Train-Set will be a set with some side-buildings....! Horizon Express won't be retiring until 31st Dec 2015, so don't expect any new Exclusives until then. A new City train set is coming next year, however. And eh..Nesquick, is the new City train just a speculation, as the title of this topic says?Greetz, LegoSjaak Quote
Seehas Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I am still wondering about the "Emerald Express" in the Creator Line 2014 (hope dies last?) ;-) Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I am still wondering about the "Emerald Express" in the Creator Line 2014 (hope dies last?) ;-) I just checked brickipedia and nothing by that name is announced yet. Where did you hear about this? It sounds interesting yet too similar to the EN. Quote
medib Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 do we really need another passenger train set. We need to get a new cargo train line..... Quote
jonwil Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=31015-1 (based on the set # and the other known 2014 Creator sets and their numbers, it looks like its just a creator train ala http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=4837-1 (or maybe its bigger) as opposed to being an actual train that runs on tracks. Quote
JopieK Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 @jonwil, I think you are right and it will be a small creator set. Quote
medib Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 judging by the price point.... 4,99 Eur / 6.99 US, I'd say too small to be too enjoyable. Quote
Cwetqo Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Its amlmostthe same as was in plastic box around 4-5 years ago. Quote
1974 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I would not entirely surprised if we'll see a white passenger trainset, a blue cargo/freight trainset and a decent sized trainstation build in a modern architecture style coming up in august Quote

Quote
JopieK Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 well it is predictable, the current trains are at the end of their cycle so it would be quite logical to see a new lineup. Quote

The timing of August sounds right for new city themes......a white one, blue as well and a new station eh ? I guess February we might see if it's true or not ? Quote
schermvlieger Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Not so much speculation but rather something that I think might make sense to implement (with my limited experience): I whish TLG would add another PF engine block to the portfolio which differs from the current one in two things: mechanically geared down to 150% - 200% of what the current motor's ratio is. Secondly, the half-pin that is used to use the motor in a bogey configuration shoulld be removable. It would also be nice if there would be more studded area for better adhesion of the superstructure. Quote
Hey Joe Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I would not entirely surprised if we'll see a white passenger trainset, a blue cargo/freight trainset and a decent sized trainstation build in a modern architecture style coming up in august I ran that past a store manager today; she: - smiled knowingly, - said she'd seen previews of next years stuff, - didn't deny it, - and said that there's some REALLY cool stuff coming, so I wouldn't doubt that 1974 is totally correct. Thanks! Joe Quote
Paperballpark Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Thankfully there's enough time before August for me to get all the current Train sets! Has anyone ever seen 7939 Cargo Train in a Bricks & Mortar LEGO store in the UK? Quote
