ZCerberus Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I know this forum seems like it has become the Lord of the Rings forum lately, but maybe you guys should wonder in to view all the CRAZY good MOCs in Historica. Challenge VI just ended and boy, did we get some terrific entries. I know you'll are scared to click into the subforum because all the replies in there seem to be from other Historicans... maybe you thought it was Heroica the game and not Historica, the awesome Eurobricks subforum, but you should view some of the work that is there. I am already convinced, I am going to Histoica now. CLICK!! For those who are still skeptical... to ease your fears, let's show you SOME of the awesome work you could expect to see in Historica today... I'm convinced. I'll click the link! Oh, and each of those MOCs is only one of at LEAST 3 posted for the challenge by each builder. I think we have over 100 individual MOCs posted in just the last week, so get in there! What are you guys waiting for, get in there and view some AWESOME MOCs now!! CLICK ME ALREADY!! Quote
Brickington Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Do not ignore him! He speaks the truth. Go check that forum out, it is awesome! It has transformed beginner MOCers into legends. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Definitely worth your time to check Historica out If you're interested in becoming a better builder I don't know a better place to do so! Quote
Legonardo Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) haha so far all who've commented on this are historicans... but its true, theres so much to love in the forum, unfortunately hardly anyone sees it, SO LISTEN TO YOUR REGULATOR AND GO! no really though, thsi is the difference GOH has made with me in just over a year > Edited May 2, 2013 by Legonardo Quote
tf_mxsh12 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) For whatever it's worth, personally I'm a bit in awe of the creations that you folks have created. Unfortunately, though, my finances don't allow me to create MOCs which are anywhere near as epic as those which you've all created. Plus, I don't really have room for that many LEGOs in my apartment either. Nevertheless, I do enjoy occasionally dropping in to see what new creations have been crafted! Keep up the incredible work Edited May 3, 2013 by tf_mxsh12 Quote
deskp Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Yep, spot on the historica thing comes of as a fairly inside obscure game thing for people (me) that doesen't partake in it. I will take a peek at the mocs now tho! Quote
Str0ngbad Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I admit I thought it was an insider thing but I promise I'll get my butt in there tomorrow. Those builds are spectacular; thank you for bringing them to my attention! Quote
Vader X Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I can't even keep up with all these great MOC's that have been posted lately! So many great things happening! Quote
kabel Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 the problem in the subforum is, that we eat little children for breakfast and instantly kill inexperienced builders and feed them to the drow! Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 the problem in the subforum is, that we eat little children for breakfast and instantly kill inexperienced builders and feed them to the drow! That's not true! You just have to be willing to hear some critiques to help improve your MOC or photo skills. The improvement from first build to last has been ridiculous with some of those builders. R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!! Yep, spot on the historica thing comes of as a fairly inside obscure game thing for people (me) that doesen't partake in it. I will take a peek at the mocs now tho! I admit I thought it was an insider thing but I promise I'll get my butt in there tomorrow. Those builds are spectacular; thank you for bringing them to my attention! Sorry this is the impression. Though you can participate in challenges for one of the 4 guilds (plus the fifth) there is nothing stopping people from making their own stories inside one of the guilds, or simply viewing and offering feedback (or praise) to the MOCs in there. fuavarra Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I love the builds in the subforum. But I get a bit jealous too ^^ I just finished my first MOC but it looks like nothing compared with the ones in the forum. Quote

But I get a bit jealous too ^^ I just finished my first MOC but it looks like nothing compared with the ones in the forum. That's okay! Many of the builders in the subforum would say where they started wouldn't hold up to where they are now either. Plus, the main challenges have wrapped up and we are entering a temporary down period. Join today and forge your own stories!! Quote
SheepEater Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Splendid MOCs. I think some of you are mighty highly qualified to make a faithful version of the village of Bree. (I know, LotR related again...) Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 It's actually kind of silly that we get Lands of Classic Castle MOCs posted here that you guys all get to check out and comment on and enjoy while the Guilds of Historica MOCs might get missed because they are a click away. I guess I just noticed ALL the comments on the great MOCs in GoH land were from regular GoH participants. That is too bad because the MOCs in there are sweet. Here is an example of the mad skills one member learned while being in GoH (and some in LCC ) Soccerkid... Challenge 2 MOC... Challenge 6 MOCs... That last one is a stack of a ton of mini interiors that should be checked out. Look at the change in photo quality and polish! It deserves your attention! Or maybe a more obvious change in skill level from soon to be famous power MOCer Legonardo Davidy who rebuilt his own challenge 1 MOC for part of challenge 6. Challenge 1 Challenge 6: Or this other builder guy from Challenge 1.... To challenge 6... Quote
kabel Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Personally I think that the results of Ch VI deserve a front page notice for the sheer communal effort already, not to mention the quality of the mocs ... Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 I tried to lobby for that- but the exclusive reviews bumped that. Quote
SteampunkDoc Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Whoa, maybe I should give it a look. I was under the impression that it was an very insider type deal as well, so never bothered to check. My biggest problem is that I just don't have the bricks to compete. Not only are my building skills leagues below these, but the space and bricks needed are just out of my reach. Even those challenge one MOCs outclass me, so there's not any reason to get involved. This sounds bad, but I don't want to enter if I'm loosing every time. Plus, I'm not creative enough to come up with a cool story. Quote

No need to be so modest, I've seen your flickr and I really like your builds. And for someone who's into Brick Flick it shouldn't be that hard to come up with a story! Also it's a lot about the team effort. So even when you don't win, you score points for the guild that you're in. And about the lack of bricks, vignettes also do the job. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Yeah, I've improved as well, you should have seen my mocs a year ago, terrible!!! ;) In all seriousness, I really would urge other members to check out the sub-forum. Not only is it a great community to be part of, it's also a great place to learn and improve on your building skills. As has already been pointed out, every member has improved tremendously and continues to do so thanks to the helpful advice, critique and tutorials of its members. So head on in and take part, pick a guild and build away, it's as easy as that! Quote
-Carson Haupt- Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Since I joined (in January) I have improved dramatically! And that's without entering Amy challenges or anything! It really not about challenges, contests, and competition, it's about community! Quote
SkaForHire Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 It is a full out PR campaign in here! I don't know how many of us really care about winning challenges. I think there were more in the beginning, but the whole concept started becoming about teams rather than individuals. Yes, the recognition of winning is good for some, and sometimes there are prizes, but really I think the entertainment value of a good story and a close-knit group of international friends trumps that all. Also, that close-knit group is very accepting of new members, so don't be shy. Oh yeah, join Kaliphlin. On another note, I think that some of the responses for this thread open up an interesting debate, perhaps for the second era of GoH, we should open up a "new members only" guild, that way, people don't feel intimidated joining an established guild with a rich history already. (A rich history that each builder adds to, no matter the seniority.) Quote
Brickington Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Yeah, I've improved as well, you should have seen my mocs a year ago, terrible!!! ;) No my friend, you were born with a great MOC in your hands. Quote
Maxim I Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Same here! I changed a lot thanks to GoH! I started with this: and this is one of my latest MoC's, similar to my first one: Also check the difference in photographing skills!! my first real MOC: Vs anohter Challenge VI entry of me: All thanks to Guilds of Historica and its excellent community!!! Quote
kabel Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I really wonder why people take us for a sect or so something like this ... Come on guys, we're real people who are helping each other to take mocing to the next level, that's actually all there is to know about the Guilds of Historica! Quote
Maxim I Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) And we are even friendly for newcomers: we do have an own Wikia where info about GoH and the cities & Characters is written on!! http://guildsofhistorica.wikia.com/wiki/Eurobricks%27_Guilds_of_Historica_Wiki (ok I admit it, it is helpfull for the older members as well ) Edited May 8, 2013 by Damaximus Quote
