Bob De Quatre Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) The Cicada is a military freighter, designed to convey supply pods to the battleships even in the middle of a combat area. It is fast, well armored with two shield projector, and capable of defending itself with two quad cannon turrets. On each side an armoured supply pod is attached. Sometimes passengers are transported, but with no comfort at all. cicada par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr cicada4 par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr So this was supposed to be the new command bridge of the Astradea... But it didn't worked well, so I decided to turn it into a small minifig scale ship, by adding a cockpit, some weapons, and engines. I reused the exact same cockpit interior as my republic gunship, just changed some colors on the pilots. I hope you like the curves as much as I do. Too bad it would be difficult to brickbuilt it. DraikNova Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Amazing. You've actually managed to make a SHIP that looks sleek and agile. Quote

Thanks guys... I'm not totally satisfied with it, I could have done much better...Even if I think that for a 3:00AM model, it's pretty good It's still so close to the Astradea command bridge that "inspired" it astradea4 par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr Quote

Timber Jackalope Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Wow, that is both fantastic and awe inspiring! I really like that cockpit! Quote
Only Sinner Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 The design is beautiful enough to be a ship unto itself. I really like the curvy sleekness. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 It's kind of amusing to be able to compare the scale of the cockpit, ship/bridge and Astradea. I'm impressed you managed to get so much done before giving up. Quote

I'm impressed you managed to get so much done before giving up. I'm still working on the Astradea "thanks" to you But it's so big, my laptop is struggling to handle the 23 000 bricks For example, I can't use the rotate tool with the mouse, I must type the angle and wait dozens of seconds to see the result... when LDD doesn't crash. So I must save regularly, and that too takes a few seconds... and sometimes it crashes too Quote

If you manage to finish that ship, you deserve a medal. You probably deserve one anyway. Edited May 7, 2013 by DraikNova Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Awesome ship, how did you render it? Thanks. I used LDD to POV-Ray converter Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The curves in the ship are beautiful! Your MOCs keep getting better and better, keep up the nice work. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 The curves in the ship are beautiful! Your MOCs keep getting better and better, keep up the nice work. Thank you Masked Builder. I don't consider it my best work, as it uses lots of big parts and simple building technics, and after having improved the Astradea's bridge, I'm convinced I could have done much better work with the Cicada, and shouldn't have rushed it late in one night Quote
Bighappysmiles Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Wow! That looks great! I like how you rendered it instead of just taking a screen in LDD, it looks a lot better! I really like the smoothness of it and how it looks like it is made of metal and not lego! great MOC! Quote

Rufus Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 That is indeed a beautiful use of curves. I take it the largest curves on the sides are the Slave I windscreen? It's a pity it doesn't come in solid colours. Quote
Fabz Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Just awesome, love the round shape of the cockpit Si seulement tu nous le faisais avec des vraies ptites briques , ça serait carrément terrible!! J'adorerai voir ça (comme tes autres creations sous LDD ) Quote

I also think it would be a really nice part if it came in solid colors Just awesome, love the round shape of the cockpit Si seulement tu nous le faisais avec des vraies ptites briques , ça serait carrément terrible!!
