Welcome to Eurobricks Puffo. :classic:

What you would be better doing it just putting the grab on the end of the 8043 excavator, you would probably save your self some money just buying that set.

i made one tonight, based on this:

i used the two xl to drive

If there's only a building instructions for that, I will make it....But I'm not that really creative and to save money to buy those motors, I just bought a cheap 8043 for $60 and will slap the claw of 42006...as what alasdair earlier mentioned

Hello everyone, and thank you for aid.

first of all congratulations for your work Eigenbroetler & Matias. I really like the 8043 model, but the price of this model are exorbitant!!!! At a reasonable price I would buy it right away, but I do not know where to find it.

could you tell me what pieces, precisely, I need to change the model 42006? or could you say to me where I can buy the 8043 model (at a fair price)?

excuse me if my english is not excellent.

On that modified 42006: there are 5 motors, 2 receivers, 1 battery box, 2 remote controllers. that alone will cost you around $100 more or less.

it's easy to find used 8043 in ebay... You need to mention your location because it's hard to guess and give some info on sale items

Ciao, I'm from Italy too (friuli Venezia Giulia). As said by ithers, it's better if you save some money and buy a second hand 8043 on ebay than a 42006 and motorize it.

I suggest www.ebay.de (germany) where you can make really good deals on technic sets! I bought 1 year ago an 8043 on amazon.it (really good prices for new sets in italy and plus has free postage!!) and paid 121euro then a couple of months later bought on ebay.de another 8043 (used but complete with box and everything, and the man send me even the battery box with the batteries inside!) for 112euro then you have to add about 15euro for postage from germany to italy.

Be patience and look at various auctions on ebay.de and you'll find the right 8043 at the right price for sure ;)

Ciao

ok, I know that you've recommended to me to buy the 8043 model, but stubborn, I bought the model 42006. Before purchasing I checked the prices for spare change on the official website of Lego, and the cost is about 200 euro, Do you know advise me where to buy lowest price and in a safe manner?

at the moment I know for sure that I need eight 8883 M-Motor, six 8884 IR Receiver e two 8881 Battery box

I'm taking the instructions from this link: http://home.kpn.nl/beer0058/lego/Buil....

what do you think? aid? comments?

Do you think that over these pieces, that I have listed, I would need to buy other pieces?

thanks for the enormous help!!!!!!

@ puffo: I looked at the "compact fully motorized lego technic 42006 excavator" option that you found on

, and like it a lot. In addition to needing the standard 42006 set, it has "2 L-motors, 4 M-motors, 3 IR receivers and 2 battery boxes squeezed into the original dimensions of the LEGO #42006 excavator. Hi there,

I know that this is not the right place to write, but I don't want to open a new post for so trivial question.....I have a model n. 9398 and I have the PowerFunction's lights but I have problems to mount, can someone help me? and how can I mount the switch? where?

thanks

I got the model 42006.

it was delivered to me this morning.

for now I'll start the installation with the addition of 8293

then as soon as my finances permit me I buy the engines and the rest to complete the change.

I'm new to lego technic (and lego). The 42006 is my first set.

This post and videos posted above about motorizing it prompted me to buy it, but I am confused as to what extra parts I need to mount the motors etc.

The bill of materials linked appears to list all the parts without differentiate the additional parts required.

Can anyone help me please?

I would really like to motorize this set

I would rather not buy an entirely new set, I would like to buy just the parts needed to motorize the 42006 set and am seeking help in creating a list of additional parts needed to complete my little project.

I am just requesting a little help identifying the parts I am missing so that I can hopefully order them.

Can I not buy the parts individually?

Yes you can,but the point I am making is that the 8043 is motorized anyway which gives you your stock machine then you just need to add the grab to it.

For 5 motors three receivers and two controllers is going to be about £100. You might be cheaper just buying a used 8043 excavator off Ebay.

What about buying it of bricklink used?

I know it may feel like you are paying for a lot more but you need to take into mind about how much the power function parts are going to set you back.I doubt you are going to pay less that £100 for the power function parts on there own.So for £50 extra you will get a lot more for your money.
