Henrik Ludvigsen Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) Yesterday I and the Danish LUG Byggepladen made a new GUINNESS World Record for the longest plastic toy train track. We made 4.000,25 meters - made entirely of LEGO, using only the old blue tracks. We used 32.000 straight tracks 14.504 curved tracks, outer 14.504 curved tracks, inner 520 crosstracks 31.544 white sleepers A total of 93.072 LEGO bricks. The track: http://grehan.dk/leg...s/P5110037.html The official from GUINNESS World records announcing the new record: http://grehan.dk/leg...s/P5110043.html There are videos here http://www.byggeplad...k/gwr_video.asp Henrik Edited May 13, 2013 by Henrik Ludvigsen Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Congrats on the world record.....now you'll have break it again......perhaps. Brick On 'HL' ! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Well done, nice to see all those wagons with the adverts going past. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) I think it's more amazing so much of that blue track exists! That alone should be part of the record! I mean 520 cross tracks, I only have 1 broken one in my collection. I mean, there is only 75 available on Bricklink Edited May 12, 2013 by paul_delahaye Quote
Locomotive Annie Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Yes congratulations from me too, - laying out all that track must've taken a while to do. And no wonder blue track has become more difficult to find, you've got most of it already Quote
ScotNick Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Congratulations - amazing to plan a layout with all those tracks! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Congrats! What were the source(s) of acquiring all the track? Quote
Henrik Ludvigsen Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Congrats! What were the source(s) of acquiring all the track? All the blue tracks are my private collection (I have more than we used, so we make it even longer next time). I have bought a lot of old blue tracks from the whole world in the last 1.5 year. It took 6 hours to set up the whole track. And was assembled by 70 people. Henrik Quote

Henrik Next time you should make a layout outside and connect for example two villages in Denmark by 5 km of blue track.... Something like this has been done by James May Toy Stories.. he made a 16 km (10 miles) long track for trains and also a long track for small RC cars..scalextric. Man with a hat Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Congratualations! What an amazing record. And that track is simply mindblowing Quote
paul_delahaye Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 All the blue tracks are my private collection So when you think about it, they could also give you a Guinness World Record for owning the most blue track in the world! Quote

Henrik Ludvigsen Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 It is the blue tracks from the 4.5 volt era. I am keeping them - I have more than 100.000 old blue tracks in the collection. Maybe - someday - the record will be improved ... Henrik Quote
