Darth Dino Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Hi i am looking for a Slave 1, e.g. the 8097. That is the latest version, there have been two pevious versions before. The Slave one is dicontinued so i got none in store. Used in that condition i want (complete, all figs, box, manual etc) means like new, or MISB. Those are 90-150€ in germany. If there will be a new version, this will be 50-70€ MRSP plus new fig plus new parts plus "better" design. So should i wait? Or why many people pay that much for those old ones? Dino Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 How badly do you want it? I think that is the key question. Since the last set came out in 2010, it is very possible to have a remake in the next few years. But at the same time, we already have an updated Boba and with this being the third version, I would almost think they won't do a remake. I just recently purchased a used/like new 8097 on Craigslist here in US for about half of what it retailed for. It had everything including the box. Are there sites like that in Germany? Maybe you could snag a really good deal below the other prices you listed. Quote
Brickadeer Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) EUR 99,00 + Shipping in Germany (New, sealed) available at: http://www.bricklink...itemID=33505816 EUR 75,00 + Shipping in Spain (New, unboxed) available at: http://www.bricklink...itemID=43415084 Personally, I'd wait for a re-release. Darth Dino Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Hi i am wondering about these prices, they are no UCS or rarely updated ships. Its the thrird version. I do not think in 1,2 years the actual X-Wing will be at 100€. Nearly every %#<¥++ SW that is discontinued is much higher in price than MRSP. Is it just because of the fig-collectors? Dino Quote
Haderach Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 You can also consider building Anio's custom "UCS" Slave 1 - he created instructions. Quote
Darth Dino Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Hi i know most of Anios MOCs - but i do not have the parts, not a single one (maybe some grey plates) :) I also do not want to know how much th parts are, i quess more than 100€, significant more. E.g. the canopy is the one used in the 8097?! Does anybody know the time where X-Wing and Slave 1 are produced, discontinued and rereleased? So like 3 years in production, 2 years absence, than again. Dino Quote
Brickadeer Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Noone knows that for sure. The previous version of the X-Wings was produced and sold pretty long. I think it depends on how much you want the model. Since it is available via bricklink for EUR 106,00 including shipping and since you are haven't bought it yet, you don't seem to be willing to pay this price for the set. Since you probably won't get the set much cheaper any time soon, I'd simply wait until it is re-released. And if that's the decision, the "when" doesn't matter. If, on the other hand, the "when" mattered, I'd buy the set new & sealed for EUR 106,00. Edited May 13, 2013 by Brickadeer Quote
Dragonfire Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I suspect the next Slave I released will be Jango's, to go with the new fig. Boba doesn't require another update. Quote
Darth Dino Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 Hi hmm it seems i will have to wait. It is not detailed enough for me to spent MRSP twice. Its iconic yes, but no UCS. So Brickadeer analysed mm situation right ;) May i ask what is the different between Boba and jamgos S1? Its the same ship. Is the color sheme different? Dino Quote
shaggysanchez Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Nearly every %#<¥++ SW that is discontinued is much higher in price than MRSP. Is it just because of the fig-collectors? While there is a large markup in discontinued Star Wars sets I don't think they are any different than any other theme out there once a set is retired. Have you ever looked at the prices of Cafe Corner or Green Grocer they are in line with the type of mark up that the Falcon has. Buying any set that is out of production or even a particular part for that matter is just like anything else more expensive than when it was readily available. It isn't because of mini figs, theme, or even the particular set (although there are a few iconic sets that are a bit crazy looking at you Falcon) its all about supply and demand. The re-sellers have something that you want and they know they are the only way you can get it so they can determine the price. It is no different than anything else that isn't produced anymore from a classic car to Jordan shoes. Quote
J.V.D. Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Well Dino, if you still can find a 8097 for 90€, I shouldnt doubt to much if I were you.. that was +/- the price it was sold for officially in europe back in 2010.. (though of course you could find cheaper). Hoping a new one will come out for 50-70 € is just wishfull thinking I am afraid.. unless the new one will be a lot less detailled, and then again you will be better of with the 8067 or 6209. And even then you will probably have to wait a couple of years still.. unless the make next year another Jango version (in white / blue colors). Quote

Boba is the classic Red and Green and worn colors. Jango's is Blue and Silver. Plus there are some detail changes such as weapons placements. The 2nd and 3rd Boba S1's are fairly similar in construction and quality. The 2nd one has better color use with redish browns and sand greens. The 3rd one uses dark reds instead. I think the 3rd one has the slightly better build, features and figs. Quote
dwong Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 You can also consider building Anio's custom "UCS" Slave 1 - he created instructions. How much to built this ship? I don't have any lego set right now. Quote
Darth Dino Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Hi @JVD: I did not know that the MRSP was that high, 90€ or something. I guessed is was in the öine ith Y-Wing and X-Wing, 50-70€. I also have an eye now on the 6209 which looks good with a lot of sandgreen. Dino Quote
Jacob Nion Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I have thought about future redesigns for a while. I guess when episode VII will start 2015 and Disney is going to publish a new film every year, TLG wont have the capacities to make many redesigns of former sets. There will only be sets based on the new films. So there could only be a new Slave in 2014. May you wait for the winter sets to see. Quote
J.V.D. Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) I also have an eye now on the 6209 which looks good with a lot of sandgreen. I just checked again some of my old catalogs, and I remembered well; in the official Lego catalog for Belgium 8097 was priced 89.99€. At Bricklink (europe) some used/complete ones are sold for even less than that amount. But you are right; 6209 is a valid alternative: it is sold within the same price range as 8097; both have +/- the same piece count, and 6209 has a nicer / more neutral color scheme. Also the position of the cargo bay to store Han Solo is more accurate on 6209, and it has a real canon as main weapon, while the 8097 has a battery of flick-missiles; ....guess which I do prefer.. Main difference are the minifigures; the 8097 has an updated Boba, and Bossk , while the 6209 has an exclusive Bespin guard and unique version of Dengar.. When 8097 came out in 2010 I found it to expensive, and wanted to buy a cheaper, used, 6209. But in the end I got the 8097 afterall, first since I was able to buy it at reduced price from somebody who got it as unwanted christmas gift, and second because the new Boba and Bossk were still exclusive to this set 2 years ago. Conclusion: you want the more accurate ship? go for the 6209. The newer minifigs? then 8097 will be your choice ( and bricklink the bespin guard and eventually Dengar) oh, yes.. the 8097 has a DSS, and as far as I know the 6209 hasn't Edited May 15, 2013 by J.V.D. wesker Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I could see Lego releasing another Boba's Slave I as part of a Cloud City themed collection of sets (think Jabba's Palace/Sailbarge/Desert Skiff/Rancor Pit) I'm sure Zuckuss and 4-LOM would give enough incentive for people to buy another. Quote

It's very likely that Boba will climb out of the Sarlacc and be in the next trilogy. I expect the Slave I to play a big role going forward, but regardless, they'll never stop making the Slave I as long as they have the license to do so. Quote
